I picked the Colts and currently in Season 3, starting off 4-0, but what about everything that lead up to this point? It's been a wild and frustrating ride. Keep in mind I super sim defense, I only play offense. Year 1 was on All-Madden, Years 2 and 3 are on All-Pro (with sliders heavily favored to the CPU)
Year 1 - 13-4
This surprised me. Jonathan Taylor and Anthony Richardson popped off, with Richardson winning MVP even though he couldn't hit the side of a barn on half his throws. He had like a 56% completion percentage for the season and only ~3300 yards, but he ran for ~1500 yards and 11 TDs. Jonathan Taylor broke the 2000 yard milestone. We also traded 1-4 2024 picks and a 2nd round 2025 pick to pick up Kyle Pitts. I love throwing to the TE and this gave Richardson another weapon to throw to, Pittman was the only consistent target.
We went into playoffs as the 2nd seed (Jets went 14-3) and had to face the Bills first round. We lost, not even close. Josh Allen threw 5 TDs and I couldn't keep up with the scoring.
Year 2 - 6-11
This was such a disappointing season. Coming off a surprise playoff appearance and Richardson shooting up in overall, I thought things could only go up, but that just wasn't the case. The defense played like wet paper. Started off the season 2-1 but then I lost 7 games in a row, with 6 of them being one possession games. It seemed like every game we would start out hot, take a quick 14-0 lead, and then in the second half the defense could just never get a stop.
The game that broke my heart the most was against the Chiefs. Took a huge 24-0 lead to start the game, and then in the second half Mahomes just scored touchdown after touchdown. We're down by 3 and Richardson leads the team down the field to score with only 11 seconds left. This was a must win game as we had to win pretty much all but one of the remaining 8 games to make playoffs. 11 seconds left and Mahomes wins it with a 75 yard touchdown to I don't even know who I wasn't sticking around to find out. I simmed the rest of the season because our playoff hopes were over, the team went 4-3 from then on.
Year 3 - 4-0
Last season is behind us and we're on a roll. Taylor is ripping up the league and Richardson has another year of development under his belt. The defense is actually playing incredibly well. The team really hasn't changed much after 2 years (I lost a lot of draft picks in the trade) other than picking up Joel Bitonio to make the line a bit better. I have so much cap space too I should have just spent it on short term deals but maybe I can make a trade happen at the deadline.
