Another ironically named PPV from that era ... Extreme Rules. One year i remember they had a cruiserweight submission match, a mixed tag match, and that absolutely lame kendo stick match between Bayley and Alexa Bliss. That sure brings to mind ECW, I tell ya.

I just want them to stop muting crowd chants. I’m assuming it’s more a WWE call than a USA Network one, but maybe Netflix can point out how dumb it is.

IIRC, there was even an extreme rules ppv where there wasn't a single match with a no dq stipulation? Or maybe it only had 1 or 2, either way, that was a joke.

If you're doing a ppv called extreme rules, every match better have stipulations of some sort.

When you go from balls to the wall "holy ****" type content to a more tame product, dead crowds are gonna happen.

My problem was them continuing with things like the TLC PPV, when they knew they were never going to deliver what they used to. They went from TLC matches with guys going through like 20 tables, blood everywhere, to a "tables match" where a guy goes through a single table and the ref is frantically calling for the bell. As a fan you couldn't help but feel disappointed.
We rarely agree on anything on OS, but this we can find common ground on.

I checked out around the time of the Benoit family tragedy, but I also felt bad for the guys and girls having to defend and protect their industry.

And it does feel weird that 'Extreme Rules' and 'TLC' matches are still a thing, even though they aren't doing the off-the-wall **** that shortens a talents' career.

I don't need them doing stupid stuff for the sake of doing it, but a lot of the "extreme rules" matches aren't that much different than the week-to-week matches so it doesn't have as much of an impact as it used to.

To just use tables as an example - guys go through tables every week, so why is a tables match supposed to be interesting? Or the aforementioned kendo stick match. That's such a common weapon now that having a match revolve around it was just...who cares?

Now, ripping Rey Mysterio's eye out? That was at least something new.

That’s fair. Do they mute them after 10pm on USA? That used to be a thing right? After prime time on cable they could get away with more? Maybe I’m making that up.

I think it's just a WWE thing.

I've noticed it a lot over the years. You'll hear the crowd when they want you to hear the crowd, then lower the volume when they either don't want you to hear the crowd or someone's on the mic talking.

Re: WWE Off-Topic

They allow so much on cable these days, I don't see why they should mute any crowd chants. Unless they are worried about kids hearing it, in which case they are trying to PG.
