Finally some NHL blockbuster

So, full deal is Tkachuk (signed for 8x$9.5) for Huberdeau, Weegar, Cole Schwindt and a first

Calgary did well despite the circumstances, although Huberdeau is also a FA. Weegar was atrocious in the playoffs but I still think he's a great Dmen.

Re: NHL 2022 Offseason

Getting Huberdeau back is big. Flames better hope he wants to stay.

What a different team Calgary will be next year.

No Tkachuk or Gaudreau, but Huberdeau in. They're still a worse team, but things could've gone way worse.

Wow, that's as big a trade as I can remember, at least in recent memory

ESPN bottom line said it's the first time 100 point scorers were traded for each other since Gretzky in '88,

Florida really wants to get over the hump

Florida was hedging themselves against one or both of MacKenzie or Huberdeau leaving. Calgary has the money to pay both if they want. Calgary is now in a place to trade a D for a forward.

Re: NHL 2022 Offseason

Calgary dumps Monahan on Montreal, giving up a protected 1st in the process, and then gives Kadri a 7x7.

When all's said and done, it's like they took the team from last year and traded a 1st for Weegar.

Re: NHL 2022 Offseason

Stastny to Canes for 1.5m
Kessel to Vegas for 1.5m

Obviously I hate the salary cap, but its crazy how some teams are able to get guys for that cheap while others will hold teams up for way more.

Hopefully one day they get rid of the hard cap.

With what’s happening with team Canada this offseason, I expected teams to pass on Virtanen but I forgot the oilers existed
