NHL is a joke.

We had round 1 of the draft last night. The problem though...literally nobody knows the official salary cap number.


How can you go into the biggest trade time of the year and not know the salary cap? That's why last night was so boring.

Did the league forget to decide that while they spent days in Boca Raton?

I doubt it'll happen, but September 2019 is an opt out in the current CBA. You never know....


NHL should change this hard cap. Have a luxury tax(something like teams can spend up to 10-15% more than the cap, but have to pay a tax). So the teams that can afford it will do it and teams who cant afford to pay tax are the ones who benefit from the money being paid from the tax.

Could they really not find anything better? Even take Hossa in exchange for Marleau or something.

Leafs did this to themselves. They cant win in playoffs and are giving up first rounder after first rounder and losing assets to fix mistakes. Are we sure this is new Leafs management?

Leafs had no leverage in deals. You better pray to the altar of Dubas that they don't have to give up assets to move Zaitsev either.

Steve Santini, Jeremy Davies and 2 2nds for Subban. I know Subban makes 9 M, but that's a really light return for the Preds. Devils making a push to try to keep Hall.

Quenneville back in Chicago!

Blackhawks trade John Hayden to the Devils for John Quenneville.

Hopefully a change of scenery can help him, sounds like he produces well in the AHL but it hasn’t translated in his NHL stints.

I was going to joke about how Benning would've traded a 1st to take Marleau off the Leafs' hands, except he beat me to the punch. (The conditional pick is a 2020 1st rounder: if the Canucks miss the playoffs next year, it becomes an unprotected 1st in 2021.)
