That’s awful value for Subban but I’m 100% sure Duchene is going to Nashville now.

Yeah I like JT Miller so I thought the Canucks made a good pickup then they said the return.

How do you let a team in that cap situation get a first rounder out of you? Tampa had to clear space to keep more important pieces and you give up a first, Benning is something.

I'm hoping against hope that this move will at least prevent Benning from throwing money at a washed-up Simmonds or exchanging Eriksson's horrible contract for *shudder* Lucic's worse one.

It's more likely that he'll throw horrible money at Tyler Myers in an attempt to fill the hole on the right side of the D. It sounds like Benning was willing to go after Subban to do the same. If the Miller trade said anything, is that the Canucks see themselves as a playoff team if they can execute on their FA plans.

If I'm Leafs, I'm going after Myers. They basically have to. Once Zaitsev is gone, their best RHD is probably someone who'd be top line AHL.

Re: NHL 2019 Offseason Thread

Not sure what Carolina was thinking with today’s move, must be freeing up money to make a run at someone in FA because de Haan just signed reasonably last off-season.

Blackhawks trade two RFA’s in Forsberg who didn’t seem to have a future with Chicago and Forsling who has started to get passed up by other prospects due to his injuries and they get Calvin de Haan (sure he might be out til December but they didn’t give much up). Then Carolina throws in Saarela (Blackhawks just drafted his brother) who just scored 30 goals and had a strong showing in the playoffs in the AHL.

I don’t get it but I like it a lot, well done Bowman.

Avs clearing cap space when they have a ton? Welcome to Colorado, Mitch Marner!

Just kidding, Kroenke just needs that money so Arsenal can fund the Kieran Tierney transfer
