Re: NHL 2019 Offseason Thread

I thought we might just be done with the terrorism of Corey Perry.

And **** Kessel. Guy didn't want to come to Minnesota and he ended up going to the Coyotes. Have fun there bro.

Panarin is going to pick the Islanders and I'm going to cease to exist.

Re: NHL 2019 Offseason Thread

Lol, battle of ontario took a diff turn.

Sens getting Zaitsev,Brown,Carcone for Ceci,Harpur,Luchuk,3rd.

Sens signing Hainsey and Ennis who played for Leafs

Leafs signing Spezza who played for Sens

Someone should tell Sens that a Hainsey-Zaitsev pairing does not work at all. Unless Sens are tanking again.

On Chicago- The list of players Stan Bowman has reacquired grows ever longer.

On Dallas- It's gonna be strange seeing Pavelski and Perry in Dallas. Reeks a bit too strongly of the "add veterans to put over the top" trope.

On Toronto- Ottawa bailed them out.

On Minnesota- It's odd, they traded all guys in their prime and kept all the geezers, adding Zucarello in free agency. I'm pretty sure they were better off with Coyle, El Nino and Granlund vs Fiala, Rask and Donato.

Re: NHL 2019 Offseason Thread

Ottawa is paying 8m for a Zaitsev-Hainsey pairing (they willingly signed Hainsey to a 3.5m deal!)

It's fun watching rivals suck.

Spezza to Leafs on minimum deal could mean Kadri is gone. Shore is also rumored to Leafs. So they got those 2 as the 3-4Cs.

Hope the Kadri return is good. From rumors, Ceci is signing a 1 year deal. So could have a top 6 of:
Rielly-Traded player
Muzzin-Ceci
AHL-Dermott

Lots of AHL competition for 1 spot would be great.

Agree regarding Minnesota but I'm happy to regularly watch Zuccarello again.

And super happy the Rangers landed Panarin. Quick turnaround for this team.

Re: NHL 2019 Offseason Thread

I don't get it. If Montreal really wanted Aho, why not sign him to a bonus-heavy 5/52.5 contract? That would REALLY put the squeeze on Carolina. Can't imagine the Canes let Aho walk for 5/42. Why play coy and try to get Aho for cheap? If you're in win-now mode (which the Habs pretty much have to be with Price/Weber contracts), why would you give a s*** about that extra 1st rounder?

Yeah I agree this is a pretty soft offersheet, only think I can think is they’re banking on the smaller market Hurricanes balking at the large signing bonus.

21 million due in that first 12 months is a big commitment but unless ownership wants to undo all the positives that came from this past season no way they don’t match.
