Re: NHL 2019 Offseason Thread

Latest rumors:
Karlsson could go back to Ottawa or even go to Montreal.

Canucks have interest in basically everyone

Leafs-Canes perhaps could do some Zaitsev+Kapanen for RHD deal (if Pesce is that dman, it's a major steal for Leafs. 4m for 5 years for a guy who could play on top pairing?)

8/72 for a 27-year-old 60-point winger on a crap team? With a lockout on deck?
Perhaps the Sabres think the cap is $183M instead of $83M?

He also has it lockout proof. Signing bonuses on the year of a possible lockout so he gets paid no matter what.

Still...
27 year old Skinner in 2 years leading to his deal: 164gp, 112pts

29 year old JVR in 2 years leading up to his deal: 163gp, 116pts

Skinner gets 9m, JVR gets 7m.

25 year old Kucherov in 2 years leading up to his deal: 154gp, 185pts

Kucherov gets 9.5m

Each of Kucherov's last 5 seasons have been better than Skinner's or JVR's career best.

It seems like they were bidding against themselves, just like the Eichel deal.

But state taxes.

9.5m in Tampa would definitely be 10m+ elsewhere, probably over 11m

Good point. He's also on a very good team and likely signed for 'less' because he wanted to keep the band together.

P.S. Is it true Skinner didn't score a goal in the last 18 games?
