Or....hockey culture.

You get labelled as an issue and that rep sticks with you as the other hard nosed old school coaches and/or people who respect the guy you clashed with view you as a problem.

Re: NHL 2023 Offseason

Babcock out! He's "resigning" (which is likely just the team letting him go out on his terms rather than fire him).

Must have been as bad as we figured.

This close to training camp, they now need to find a new coach. I wonder how awkward it will be for them now, the vets were defending him while the young players apparently felt uncomfortable.

Jarmo and/or JD should be following him out the door.

They hired their associate coach as their head coach immediately when announcing this news.

Either way, must be weird all around. If that locker room isn't divided (even if it won't be publicly), that'll be a major surprise. Don't know how you have a turn of events like this and have everyone on the same page when there's clearly two different sides in that locker room.

Bill Peters is available.... no wait, he isn't because WHL got him first because they want him coaching kids again.

According to a source with knowledge of the NHLPA, it became clear that veteran players like Jenner were having a much different experience with Babcock than young players were having.
What was reported by Bissonnette was "the tip of the iceberg," according to a source.
And there you have it.
Babs knows how to manipulate people. He asks for pics of Jenner's puppy while rifling through party pics of some 20 year old rookie.

Babcock is a manipulating, narcissistic piece of human garbage.
As several former players have attested, he only cares about one person.
He claims he took classes on being a better person, blah, blah, blah. All smoke and mirrors.
And as Dr Jones pointed out, whoever green-lit Bab's hiring should be fired as well.

Re: NHL 2023 Offseason

Apparently the Babcock phone stuff has been around longer.

Leafs had a "designated player" basically being the guy who gave any new player a heads up about what to expect with Babcock (such as warnings about the phone stuff).

One of the people who was part of that investigation with the PA was Ron Hainsey, who was one of the vets on the Leafs during Babcocks time there........

It's crazy how as bad as everything has been, what we actually know of now is probably the sugar coated version.

A good way to sum up pro (and amateur) sports in general.
