Re: TNK MLB 23 SLIDERS

TNK - BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE
Game #3 of Season

Baltimore Orioles (1-1) @ Boston Red Sox (1-1)
Pitching Matchup – Cole Irvin vs Tanner Houck

The Red Sox jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the 1st when Justin Turner doubled to put runners on 2nd & 3rd with 1 out for Masataka Yoshida who picked up a RBI on a ground out to Mountcastle at 1st base/ Tanner Houck was pitching well early for Boston and was through 3 scoreless innings on the mound. Boston added to their lead in the bottom of the 2nd when Turner doubled and came in to score on a RBI double by Yoshida to make it 2-0 after 3 innings. The Orioles were threatening in the top of the 4th after singles by Gunnar Henderson and Ramon Urias put runners at the corners with 1 out but Houck would strikeout Austin Hays and get Adam Frazier to ground out to escape the jam and keep it a 2-0 game. Irvin recorded two quick outs to begin the bottom of the 4th before leaving a pitch up in the zone to Kike Hernandez who drove it into the green monster seats for a solo HR to make it 3-0. Houck and Irvin pitched 1-2-3 innings in the 5th and the Orioles would get on the board in the top of the 6th when Hernandez booted a ground ball at SS allowing Mountcastle to reach with 1 out and Gunnar Henderson short hopped the wall in left-center for a RBI double as Mountcastle slid in safely at the plate to make it 3-1. Ramon Urias punched a liner into RF for a RBI single to cut the deficit to 3-2. Houck would get out of the inning to finish his night and exit with a 3-2 lead. Tyler Wells replaced Irvin on the mound for Baltimore after a 1 out double by Verdugo in the bottom of the 6th and Wells would retire Arroyo and Hernandez to strand Verdugo at second base and send the game to the 7th inning with Boston leading 3-2. Richard Bleier took over on the mound to begin the top of the 7th for Boston and Cedric Mullins punched a ground ball through the hole into RF for a lead off single. Rutschman bunted Mullins into scoring position. Bleier would retire Santander for the 2nd out and Chris Martin would come on to face Mountcastle with 2 outs in a big spot. Mountcastle hit a ball back up the middle that hit Martin off the leg and reached for an infield single to bring up Henderson for a huge at bat with runners on the corners and 2 outs. Henderson hit a ground ball in the hole to the left side and Hernandez would get to it but had no play as Henderson was safe at first with a RBI single as Mullins scores to tie the game at 3-3. Martin came back with a huge strikeout of Urias to end the frame but the score was now tied 3-3. Bryan Baker came on to pitch the bottom of the 7th and would leave a cutter up in the zone to Connor Wong who was able to elevate it just enough to get over the monster for a solo HR to put Boston back on top 4-3. Martin returned to the mound for the top of the 8th and struck out the side making it 4 straight Orioles hitters that went down on strikes as Martin sends the game to the bottom of the 8th inning with the Red Sox leading 4-3. Yoshida and Duvall hit back to back singles to put two on with nobody out against Keegan Akin in the bottom of the 8th. Christian Arroyo would line a RBI double in the gap with 1 out to score Yoshida making it 5-3 and Akin would intentionally walk Hernandez to load the bases and try to set up a double play with Wong coming up. Wong would work to a full count and draw a walk to force in a run extending the lead to 6-3. Mychal Givens would replace Akin on the mound for Baltimore and got a huge K of Refsnyder to bring up Rafael Devers with the bases loaded and 2 outs. Givens would get a head in the count before leaving a fastball up to Devers who launched it into the Red Sox bullpen for a grand slam HR to blow the game open as the Red Sox take a 10-3 lead. Zack Kelly came on to pitch the 9th for Boston and recorded two quick outs before Anthony Santander went opposite field for a solo HR to make it 10-4. Kelly would get Henderson to fly out to Duvall in CF for the final out and the Red Sox win 10-4

GAME NOTES
* The Red Sox take the series and improve to 2-1 while the Orioles fall to 1=-2

* Tanner Houck pitched well in his first start of the season for Boston throwing 6 strong innings allowing 2 runs on 5 hits with 2 walks & 6 Ks

* Rafael Devers blew the game open with a grand slam in the 8th inning while Boston also got home runs from Kike Hernandez and Connor Wong

* The Red Sox will remain at home as the Pittsburgh Pirates come to Boston to begin a 3 game inter-league series at Fenway Park. Kutter Crawford gets the start in the opener for Boston against Johan Oviedo for Pittsburgh

Re: TNK MLB 23 SLIDERS

Loving these sliders so far. Only have two things I had questions on that maybe you can help me with.

1. It seems like since I moved up to HOF hitting that the only hits I get are either singles or homeruns. I've played about five games so far and noticed this. Anything I can adjust so that I see more doubles and less homeruns?

2. I'm thinking of bumping up fielder reaction speed by 1. I've noticed several balls get by my outfielders that definitely should be singles that they can't get to fast enough and get by and go to the wall. Have you noticed this at all in any of your games?

Re: TNK MLB 23 SLIDERS

Hi mate, like every year, I try to restart a franchise with the Dodgers and like every year I continue to use your Gameplay/Sliders set.
So far, after 5 games I have to admit that it is paying off very well, the whole complete set
I'm having a lot of fun and I'm pleased to note that the matches are coming out very balanced and fought.
I continue to follow the post for any changes to the sliders or gameplay.
Hoping, this season, that I will be able to be more consistent and to be able to complete the Franchise.

I have not had those problems at all man

Do you use POWER SWING? I 99.99999% of time use only the X regular swing....maybe that could be part of it?

Feel free to try tweaking any slider you feel like you need to ......maybe even try just SWING TIMING and see if things change

Re: TNK MLB 23 SLIDERS

Love the sliders. Two questions

Do you ever use fielding aids where you have catcher call pitches? I didn’t know if that would effect the sliders

Also what rosters are you using?

Thanks

FIELDING AIDS - Nope.....I use Automatic fielding, let them go get the ball for you and not worry about bad angles, timing your dive or jump, etc. Focus on making the throws

CATCHER CALL PITCH - Nope, I call my own game

ROSTERS - using the Live Roster download and I added Kodai Senga from the Vault to the Mets and Tatis to the Padres. I typically wait for the Ridin/Full Minors roster, but the in game rosters this year are pretty damn good considering

TNK - BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE
Game #4 of Season

Pittsburgh Pirates (2-1) @ Boston Red Sox (2-1)
Pitching Matchup – Johan Oviedo vs Kutter Crawford

The game was scoreless after 2 innings as Kutter Crawford and Johan Oviedo each cruised through their first two innings of work on the mound. Crawford battled command issues in the top of the 3rd hitting Jack Suwinski with a pitch and walking Austin Hedges and Pittsburgh opened the scoring with 2 outs when Brian Reynolds lined a ball past Devers at 3rd base and down the LF line for a two run double to give the Pirates a 2-0 lead. The Red Sox got back to back 2 out singles from Alex Verdugo and Rafael Devers in the bottom of the 3rd but Oviedo battled Justin Turner to a full count before getting him to chase a fastball away for a big K to end the threat and send the game to the 4th inning with Pittsburgh up 2-0. Crawford was through 5 innings having allowed just the one hit by Reynolds while Oviedo had allowed just two hits and retired the side in the bottom of the 5th to send the game to the 6th inning with the Pirates leading 2-0. Crawford struck out Cruz to begin the top of the 6th before back to back singles by Reynolds and McCutchen put two men on with 1 out for the Pirates. Crawford came back with a huge K of Santana and would finish his outing by getting Hayes to pop out as the Pirates strand a pair and fail to score. Alex Verdugo drove a ball over the head of McCutchen in RF for a triple to lead off the bottom of the 6th and that would be all for Oviedo as Jose Hernandez came on from the Pittsburgh bullpen to make his MLB debut. Hernandez would get Devers to ground out to Santana at first base but Verdugo would score to cut the deficit to 2-1. Hernandez allowed singles to Justin Turner and Adam Duvall putting two men on with 2 outs for Triston Casas but Hernandez would escape the jam getting Casas to hit a routine fly ball to Reynolds in LF ending the threat and sending the game to the 7th inning with Pittsburgh leading 2-1. Joely Rodriguez made his Red Sox debut out of the pen with 3 lefties due up for Pittsburgh and he would pitch a scoreless top of the 7th to keep it a 2-1 game. Dauri Moreta worked around a single by Wong in the bottom of the 7th to send the game to the 8th inning with the Pirates leading 2-1. Cruz singled off Rodriguez to lead off the top of the 8th and Ryan Brasier replaced Hernandez on the mound for Boston and gave up a single to Reynolds putting two men on with nobody out for the Pirates. McCutchen grounded out to Casas at first base but the runners would move up on the play and Brasier would then intentionally walk Santana to load the bases with 1 out for Ke'Bryan Hayes. Brasier got out of the jam as Hayes flew out to Verdugo in shallow RF for the 2nd out as the runners had to hold and Brasier would strike Choi out looking on a nasty back door slider to end the frame as the Pirates leave the bases loaded and the score remains 2-1 heading into the bottom of the 8th. Colin Holderman was on to pitch the bottom of the 8th for Pittsburgh and Devers worked a full count before driving a ball deep down the RF line toward the Pesky pole but McCutchen would get there and reach up to take away what would have been a game tying HR for the first out. Turner struck out for the 2nd out and Yoshida flew out to McCutchen in deep RF as Holderman retires the side and sends the game to the 9th inning with the Pirates still leading 2-1. Brasier returned to the mound for the top of the 9th and Ji Hwan Bae singled with 1 out and advanced into scoring position on a chopper to 3rd base by Hedges. Oneil Cruz came up with 2 outs and Bae on second base and he would hit the ball hard on the ground to the right side but Casas would make a nice diving stop at first base and flip to Brasier just in time to get the speedy Cruz for the 3rd out and we would to the bottom of the 9th with the Red Sox coming to bat trailing 2-1. Pirates closer David Bednar was coming on to pitch the bottom of the 9th looking to close it out and record the save for Pittsburgh. The Red Sox had Duvall, Casas and Arroyo due up in the bottom of the 9th and Duvall lined a ball into RF for a lead off single putting the tying run on base for Boston with nobody out. Bednar came right back to get Casas to ground into a huge 6-4-3 double play and the Red Sox were down to their final out. Christian Arroyo would go down swinging on a breaking ball in the dirt as Bednar picks up his 2nd save of the season and the Pirates hang on to win 2-1

GAME NOTES
* The Pirates win a low scoring game 2-1 to take the opener of this 3 game series at Fenway Park

* Red Sox fall to 2-2 while the Pirates improve to 3-1 on the season

* Kutter Crawford pitched well for Boston throwing 6 strong innings allowing 2 runs on 3 hits with 8 Ks and 1 walk but took the loss to fall to 0-1 on the season

* Johan Oviedo made his first start for Pittsburgh and pitched into the 6th inning allowing 1 run on 3 hits with 4 Ks and 1 walk to earn the win

* Brian Reynolds provided the offense for Pittsburgh as he went 3 for 4 with a double & 2 RBI

* The Red Sox and Pirates will play the 2nd game of this 3 game series tomorrow with Nick Pivetta taking the mound for Boston against Roansy Contreras for Pittsburgh
