Re: TNK MLB 23 SLIDERS

TNK - BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE
Game #9 of Season

Boston Red Sox (6-2) @ Detroit Tigers (3-5)
Pitching Matchup – Kutter Crawford vs Matt Boyd

The Tigers were opened the scoring in the bottom of the 2nd inning as Miguel Cabrera was on base after drawing a walk and Kutter Crawford started Jonathan Schoop off with a changeup that stayed up in the zone and Schoop hammered it for a 2-run HR to LF giving Detroit a 2-0 lead. Matthew Boyd had control problems in the top of the 3rd and the Red Sox made him pay as he walked Devers and then hit Verdugo with a pitch putting two men on for Boston and Adam Duvall would drive a ball off the wall in CF for a RBI double as two runs score to tie the game at 2-2. Christian Arroyo followed with a ground ball through the left side for a RBI single as Duvall slid in safe at the plate just beating the throw home from Baddoo to give Boston a 3-2 lead. The Tigers tied the game up in the bottom of the 3rd as Akil Baddoo doubled to lead off the inning, advanced to 3rd on a ground out by Greene and came in to score on a RBI ground out by Javier Baez and score was tied 3-3 at the end of 3 innings. The Red Sox went down quickly as Boyd retired the side in order in the top of the 4th and the Tigers would get a lead off single from Torkelson in the bottom half and he would come into score on a big two out RBI single to RF by Schoop giving Detroit a 4-3 lead. Crawford would get Baddoo to pop up to end the inning and we would head to the 5th inning with the Tigers leading 4-3. The Red Sox answered in the top of the 5th as Justin Turner singled and Alex Verdugo walked to put two men on for Adam Duvall with 1 out and Duvall ripped a ground ball past the dive of Maton down the 3rd base line into the corner for a two run double to put Boston back on top 5-4. Christian Arroyo dropped a sinking liner into RF and the ball got past the dive of Carpenter for a RBI double making it 6-4 and that would be all for Boyd as Rony Garcia came in to pitch for Detroit with 1 out. Garcia retired Kike Hernandez then struck out Triston Casas to end the frame and strand Arroyo in scoring position. Crawford issued a lead off walk to Greene to begin the bottom of the 5th and Baez followed with a liner in the gap in right-center for a RBI double pulling the Tigers within a run at 6-5 and knocking Crawford out of the game as Josh Winckowski made his way in to take over on the mound for Boston. Winckowski issued a walk to Carpenter to put runners on 1st & 2nd with nobody out but he would get Torkelson to bounce into a big 6-4-3 double play and then retired Cabrera on a ground out to escape the jam with and send the game to the 6th inning with Boston leading 6-5. Garcia and Winckowski pitched scoreless frames in the 6th to send the game to the 7th inning with Boston up 6-5. Jason Foley pitched a scoreless top of the 7th for Detroit while Winckowski remained in the game for Boston and retired the side in the bottom of the 7th to send the game to the 8th inning with the Red Sox leading 6-5. Foley worked around a lead off double by Triston Casas in a scoreless top of the 8th while Chris Martin came on and made quick work of the Tigers in the bottom of the 8th as we would move to the 9th inning with the Red Sox leading the Tigers 6-5. Will Vest retired the side in the top of the 9th for Detroit and the Tigers would come up to bat in the bottom of the 9th trailing 6-5 with Kenley Jansen coming on to pitch the bottom of the 9th looking to close it out and complete the series sweep for the Red Sox. Detroit had Maton, Schoop and Haase due up against Jansen in the bottom of the 9th and Jansen would record the first out as Maton chopped back to the mound bringing up Schoop with 1 out. Schoop hit a hard ground ball up the middle but Hernandez would make a nice play ranging to his left as he went down to a knee to field it and popped up and made a strong throw over to Casas to get Schoop and the Tigers were down to their final out. Haase laid off a couple close pitches and fouled off a couple two strike pitches from Jansen to stay alive before Jansen tried to put him away with a two seam fastball away but Haase would go with the pitch and drive it the opposite way high and deep and the ball would carry over the wall for a dramatic game tying HR to tie the game 6-6 as Jansen blows his first save in a Red Sox uniform. Akil Baddoo drew a walk and stole second base and suddenly Detroit had the potential winning run in scoring position but Jansen would lock up Riley Greene with a back door cutter for a huge K to end the 9th with the score tied 6-6 and we were headed for extra innings. The Red Sox reclaimed the lead in the top of the 10th on a lead off RBI single up the middle from Kike Hernandez scoring Arroyo who was the extra innings base runner to give Boston a 7-6 lead. Ryan Brasier came on to pitch the bottom of the 10th for Boston looking to close it out and recorded the first two outs with ease before Spencer Torkelson singled up the middle to score Vierling who was on to pinch run as the extra innings runner for Detroit to tie the game 7-7. Miguel Cabrera followed with a single and suddenly the Tigers had the potential winning run in scoring position for Nick Maton with 2 outs. Maton would ground out to Devers at 3rd base and the game would move to the 11th inning. Tyler Alexander pitched a 1-2-3 top of the 11th for Detroit and the Tigers would have a chance to win in the bottom of the 11th with John Schreiber coming on to pitch for Boston. Schreiber struck out Schoop on a slider away to begin the inning that bounced away from Wong for a second allowing Kreidler who was on as a pinch runner to advance to 3rd base and the Tigers had the winning run 90 feet away with 1 out and Eric Haase coming up. Haase went after the first pitch from Schreiber and was able to lift the ball to LF where Refsnyder made the catch and his throw home was off line as Kreidler raced home with the winning run to give the Tigers a 8-7 win in 11 innings

GAME NOTES
* The Red Sox were leading 6-5 with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th and were on strike away from victory when Eric Haase took Kenley Jansen deep to tie the game 6-6. Both teams plated a run in the 10th and we would go to the 11th inning where the Tigers won on a sac fly to LF by Eric Haase as the Tigers avoid being swept with a thrilling 8-7 victory

* Red Sox loss snaps the Red Sox 4 game win streak as they fall to 6-3 while the Tigers improve to 4-5 on the season

* Kutter Crawford lasted 4 innings allowing 5 runs on 7 hits with 2 walks as he doesn't factor in the decision. Crawford is going down to AAA Worcester after the game as Garrett Whitlock is set to join the rotation after missing the start of the season

* Matt Boyd pitched 4.1 innings allowing 6 runs on 8 hits with 2 walks & 6 Ks and did not factor in the decision

* Adam Duvall and Christian Arroyo led the way offensively for Boston as Duvall went 2 for 5 with 2 doubles & 4 RBI while Arroyo went 3 for 5 with a double & 2 RBI

* The Tigers got home runs from Jonathan Schoop and Eric Haase

* The Red Sox sent RP Joely Rodriguez to AAA Worcester prior to the game and called up RP Kaleb Ort

* The Red Sox will be sending Kutter Crawford down to AAA Worcester after the game to make room on the roster for SP Garrett Whitlock who is set to join the team after he was a couple weeks behind his teammates coming out of spring training after off-season hip surgery. Whitlock will make his 2023 debut in the upcoming series at Tampa Bay

* The Red Sox are 2-1 on the road trip and will travel south to Florida where they will begin a 4 game series with AL East rival Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field. Nick Pivetta takes the mound in the opener of the series

Re: TNK MLB 23 SLIDERS

TNK - BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE
Game #10 of Season

Boston Red Sox (6-3) @ Tampa Bay Rays (5-4)
Pitching Matchup – Nick Pivetta vs Josh Fleming

Josh Fleming and Nick Pivetta were both sharp in the early stages of the game with both allowing 1 hit through 3 innings and we would head to the 4th inning with the score tied 0-0. The game was still scoreless in the top of the 5th and the Red Sox were threatening for the first time after Alex Verdugo led off with a liner into CF for a single and Christian Arroyo walked to put two men on with nobody out. Triston Casas gave the Red Sox a 1-0 lead with a ground ball up the middle for a RBI single and Connor Wong dropped a bloop single behind 1st base and suddenly Boston was threatening to have a big inning as the bases were loaded with nobody out and the top of the order coming up. Fleming did a good job to get out of the inning with minimal damage as he would get Kike Hernandez to ground into a big 6-4-3 double play as Arroyo scores to make it 2-0 and then got Devers to pop out to end the top of the 5th with Boston now leading 2-0. Pivetta continued to keep the Rays hitters off balance as he had all of his pitches working and struck out Josh Lowe looking to end the 5th inning with a changeup away for his 6th K to send the game to the 6th inning with Boston leading 2-0. Fleming got Duvall to bounce into a 5-4-3 double play to end the top of the 6th while Pivetta retired the Rays in order in the bottom half to send the game to the 7th inning with the Red Sox leading 2-0. Colin Poche came on to pitch the top of the 7th for Tampa Bay and issued a lead off walk to Verdugo but he was thrown out stealing and Poche would get through the inning and keep it a 2-0 game. Pivetta made quick work of Lowe and Arozarena to begin the bottom of the 7th before hanging a curveball to Wander Franco who short-hopped the wall in RF for a 2 out double. Luke Raley was up next and Pivetta would get out of the inning by getting Raley to fly out to Yoshida in LF ending the 7th inning with the Red Sox still leading 2-0. Ryan Thompson pitched a 1-2-3 top of the 8th for Tampa Bay and Pivetta would return to the mound to begin the bottom of the 8th having thrown 92 pitches in the ball game as Chris Martin and Richard Bleier were ready in the pen for Boston. Isaac Paredes led off with a ground ball ripped down the 3rd base line but Devers made a terrific diving stop and fired a strong throw across the diamond for the 1st out. Pivetta would finish his outing in style with back to back Ks as he snapped off a curveball to strikeout Josh Lowe on his 100th pitch of the night and froze Manuel Margot with a fastball at the letters to end the 8th and send the game to the 9th inning with Boston leading 2-0. Thompson pitched a 1-2-3 top of the 9th and we would go to the bottom of the 9th with the Rays would coming up to hit trailing 2-0 and Red Sox closer Kenley Jansen coming on to try and finish it off for Boston. Jansen would get Bethancourt to fly out to Verdugo for the 1st out and Yandy Diaz tried to check his swing but couldn't hold up on a slider away as the first base ump rang him up for the K and the Rays were down to their final out with Brandon Lowe coming up. Things got interesting as Jansen got squeezed and Lowe would draw a 2 out walk to bring the tying run to the plate in Randy Arozarena but Jansen would get Arozarena to fly out to Verdugo in RF for the final out as he records his 4th save and the Red Sox win 2-0

GAME NOTES
* The Red Sox grind out a 2-0 victory in the opener of this 4 game series behind an excellent pitching performance by Nick Pivetta who threw 8 shutout innings

* Red Sox get back on track and improve to 7-3 while the Rays drop to 5-5 on the season

* Nick Pivetta was outstanding as he pitched 8 shutout innings allowing just 3 hits and striking out 8. Pivetta improves to 2-0 with a 2.02 ERA through his first two starts of the season

* Josh Fleming pitched well for Tampa Bay throwing 6.0 strong innings allowing 2 runs on 5 hits with 2 walks & 4 Ks as he takes the tough luck loss and falls to 0-1 with a 3.64 ERA on the season

* Triston Casas had the lone RBI in the game with a RBI single to CF on a night where he went 1 for 3. Casas is hitting .364 with 1 HR & 5 RBI on the season

* The Red Sox and Rays will play the 2nd game of this 4 game series tomorrow night with Garrett Whitlock scheduled to pitch for Bsoton while Shane McClanahan gets the start on the mond for Tampa Bay. Whitlock is set to make his 2023 debut after he was delayed in spring training while he worked his way back from off-season hip surgery.

Re: TNK MLB 23 SLIDERS

TNK - BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE
Game #11 of Season

Boston Red Sox (7-3) @ Tampa Bay Rays (5-5)
Pitching Matchup – Garrett Whitlock vs Shane McClanahan

THIS WAS AN INCREDIBLE GAME!!!

Alex Verdugo made a bid for a solo HR in the top of the 1st when he squared up a 97 mph fastball from McClanahan but Manuel Margot reached up to make the catch against the wall in RF. McClanahan struck out Justin Turner to finish off a 1-2-3 top of the 1st and Garrett Whitlock would take the mound for his 2023 debut after his rehab from off-season hip surgery caused him to be a couple weeks behind the rest of his teammates coming out of spring training. Whitlock looked sharp in his first inning of work registering 2 Ks and the game was scoreless after 1 inning. The Red Sox got a lead off double by Masataka Yoshida and Bobby Dalbec walked to put two on with nobody out in the top of the 2nd but McClanahan came back to strikeout the next 3 batters to get out of the inning. The Rays threatened in the bottom of the 2nd after Luke Raley tripled and Isaac Paredes was hit by a pitch putting runners on the corners with 1 out but Whitlock would rely on his heavy sinker to get Josh Lowe to ground to Chang at second base to start an inning ending 4-6-3 double play and send the game to the 3rd inning tied 0-0. McClanahan picked up two more K's in the top of the 3rd giving him 7 Ks through his first 3 innings while Whitlock was up to 4 Ks as he retired the side in order in the bottom of the 3rd sending the game to the 4th inning tied 0-0. McClanahan recorded his 8th & 9th Ks in the top of the 4th while Whitlock retired the side in the bottom half and the game was still scoreless after 4 innings 0-0. The Red Sox went down quietly in the top of the 5th but were making McClanahan work as he was over 70 pitches through 5 innings. Whitlock was sitting 95-97 mph with his fastball and struck out the side in the bottom of the 5th sending the game to the 6th inning locked in a 0-0 tie. The Red Sox got a double from Alex Verdugo in the top of the 6th and Yoshida would work a full count with 2 outs and foul off a couple tough pitches with two strikes to stay alive before hitting a ball that was sinking fast into shallow left-center but Josh Lowe came on to make a nice running catch to end the frame and strand Verdugo in scoring position. Whitlock ran a fastball in that hit Margot to put the lead off man on for Tampa Bay in the bottom of the 6th but Whitlock came back to retire Mejia and Diaz before Brandon Lowe singled up the middle to put two men on with 2 outs for Randy Arozarena. Whitlock would go back to his sinker and get Arozarena to ground out to Chang at second base for the final out ending the 6th inning with the score still tied 0-0. McClanahan pitched another 1-2-3 inning in the top of the 7th and picked up his 10th K of the game but was up to 105 pitches on the night. Whitlock continued to match McClanahan as he retired the side in order in the bottom of the 7th and recorded his 8th K when he blew a 95 mph fastball past Paredes for the 3rd out to send the game to the 8th inning with the score still tied 0-0. The Rays had Poche and Cleavinger ready in the bullpen but McClanahan returned to the mound for the top of the 8th at 105 pitches. McClanahan recorded the first two outs before Rob Refsnyder lined a single to CF on pitch #120 of the game and that would be all for McClanahan as Garrett Cleavinger came in from the pen to face Verdugo who hit the ball softly to LF where Arozarena came charging to make a running catch ending the top of the 8th with the came still scoreless. Whitlock returned to the mound to begin the bottom of the 8th and Josh Lowe lined a ball into LF for a lead off single but Whitlock would get Margot to bounce back to the mound starting a huge 1-6-3 double play and then finished his night by striking out Mejia who could not hold up on a filthy changeup away as the game remained scoreless and we were headed to the 9th inning with the score tied 0-0. The Red Sox were threatening in the top of the 9th as Masataka Yoshida singled off Cleavinger with 1 out and Bobby Dalbec followed with a double off the wall in RF just missing a HR by inches as he settled for a double and the Red Sox had runners on 2nd & 3rd with 1 out for Triston Casas. Cleavinger would get ahead in the count and had two strikes on Casas and tried to put him away with a slider that stayed over the plate and Casas was able to drive a fly ball deep enough to RF where Margot made the catch and had no shot at Yoshida who tagged up and came in to score the games first run snapping the scoreless tie to give Boston a 1-0 lead. Kike Hernandez was up next and he hit the ball hard on the ground through the right side into RF for a big RBI single as Dalbec scores a big insurance run for the Red Sox to extend the lead to 2-0. Cleavinger would strikeout Reese McGuire to end the inning with no further damage and send the game to the bottom of the 9th with the Rays trailing 2-0. Tampa Bay had the top of the order coming up as Diaz, Lowe and Arozarena were scheduled to hit against Kenley Jansen who was on to try and close the game out for Boston. Yandy Diaz lined the first pitch Jansen threw into CF for a lead off single and the Rays would bring the tying run to the plate with nobody out. Brandon Lowe followed by turning on an inside fastball and lining it into the RF corner for a double and suddenly the Rays had two men in scoring position with no outs in the bottom of the 9th. Jansen would get Arozarena to ground to Dalbec at 3rd base for a huge out as the runners had to hold and that would bring up Wander Franco with 1 out. Wander Franco would battle Jansen to a full count before Jansen got Franco to hit a fly ball to medium depth LF where Yoshida made the catch for the 2nd out and Diaz tagged up and headed to the plate but Yoshida and Dalbec executed a perfect relay throw to McGuire at home plate to nail Diaz for the final out of the game as the Red Sox win in dramatic fashion 2-0 and Jansen wiggles out of a tough jam to record the save

GAME NOTES
* The fans were treated to an incredible pitchers duel between Shane McClanahan and Garrett Whitlock who went toe to toe on the mound and the game was scoreless entering the 9th inning before the Red Sox scored a pair of runs to take a 2-0 lead. The Rays had runners on 2nd & 3rd with nobody out in the bottom of the 9th but Kenley Jansen escaped the jam and the game ended on a play at the plate as Yoshida and Dalbec combined for a relay throw to nail Diaz at the plate to end the game and give the Red Sox a thrilling 2-0 win

* The Red Sox placed CF Adam Duvall on the injured list prior to the game with an injured wrist. The Red Sox have called up INF Bobby Dalbec from AAA Worcester to take Duvall place on the active roster.

Re: TNK MLB 23 SLIDERS

TNK - BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE
Game #12 of Season

Boston Red Sox (8-3) @ Tampa Bay Rays (5-6)
Pitching Matchup – Chris Sale vs Zach Eflin

The Rays opened the scoring in the bottom of the 1st as Harold Ramirez doubled with 1 out and Wander Franco lined a rocket into LF for a RBI single to give Tampa Bay a quick 1-0 lead. The Red Sox were threatening in the top of the 2nd when Taylor Walls throwing error allowed Dalbec to reach and move into scoring position with 1 out. Raimel Tapia would line a ball into CF for a single as Dalbec attempted to score but Jose Siri fired a strong throw to Bethancourt to nail Dalbec at home plate. The Red Sox would get on the board in the top of the 3rd when Eflin retired the first two batters before grooving a fastball to Devers who launched it into the RF stands for a solo HR to tie the game 1-1. Taylor Walls walked to lead off the bottom of the 3rd but Sale would guess right with a pick off move as Walls took off for second base and Casas would throw him out. Sale struck out Ramirez to end the bottom of the 3rd and send the game to the 4th inning tied at 1-1. The Red Sox offense got going in the top of the 4th as Triston Casas drew a 1 out walk and Bobby Dalbec followed by hooking a line drive into the LF corner for a double to put two runners in scoring position. Raimel Tapia would knock them both in as he hit a line drive into RF for a RBI single as Casas & Dalbec score to give Boston a 3-1 lead. The Rays were threatening in the bottom half of the inning after Brandon Lowe doubled and Christian Bethancourt reached on an infield single to put two men on with 1 out for Tampa Bay. Sale would make a great pitch to freeze Josh Lowe with a 94 mph fastball away for a huge K bringing up Jose Siri with 2 outs. Siri would battle to a full count with Sale and foul off a couple tough pitches with two strikes before Sale pumped a fastball in on Siri who tried to check his swing but couldn't hold up and Sales escapes the inning and we would go to the 5th inning with Boston leading 3-1. Eflin recorded two quick outs to begin the 5th inning before Yoshida, Casas and Dalbec hit 3 straight singles with Dalbec picking up the RBI as the Sox extend the lead to 4-1 and Eflin would exit as Luis Patino took over on the mound for Tampa Bay. Sale cruised through the bottom of the 5th and the bottom of the 6th as he struck out Brandon Lowe looking at a slider that locked him up sending the game to the 7th inning with the Red Sox up 4-1. Luis Patino was pitching well out of the pen and retired the Sox in order in the top of the 7th while Sale retired the first two batters in the bottom of the 7th before Jose Siri singled up the middle to put a man on with 2 outs. Siri stole second base to move into scoring position but Sale would finish his outing by freezing Francisco Mejia with a nasty back door slider for his 9th K of the game and we would head to the 8th inning with the Red Sox leading 4-1. Patino pitched another scoreless frame striking out McGuire to end the top of the 8th and John Schreiber was on to pitch the bottom of the 8th for Boston. Schreiber retired Taylor Walls before back to back singles by Randy Arozarena and Harold Ramirez put runners on the corners with 1 out for the Rays with Wander Franco coming up to bat. Franco lined a first pitch fastball from Schreiber into LF for a RBI single to cut the deficit to 4-2 and put the tying run on base for the Rays. Schreiber thought he had a called strike 3 on Brandon Lowe but the umpire called it a ball to run the count full and Schreiber went to the slider and Lowe lined it into CF for a RBI single cutting the Red Sox lead to 4-3. Chris Martin came in from the pen to replace Schreiber with runners on the corners and 1 out with Boston clinging to a 4-3 lead. Christian Bethancourt would foul off a couple tough pitches with two strikes before Martin would get him swinging on a perfectly located 95 mph fastball low and away for a huge out bringing up Josh Lowe with 2 outs. Martin would make another excellent pitch as he set Lowe up with a couple sliders away before coming up and in with a 96 mph fastball that froze Lowe who goes down looking as the Rays strand the tying run at 3rd base and Martin sends the game to the 9th inning with Boston leading 4-3. Colin Poche retired the side in order in the top of the 9th to bring the Rays up to bat with the bottom of the order due up against Sox closer Kenley Jansen in the bottom of the 9th. Jose Siri hit a slow roller to the left side and beat the throw from Dalbec for an infield single to lead off the inning for Tampa Bay. Jansen would get Mejia to pop out to Devers in foul ground for the 1st out. Yandy Diaz came on to pinch hit for Walls and he would get a first pitch slider from Jansen that stayed over the plate and Diaz drove it to the wall in left-center for a RBI double to tie the game at 4-4 as Jansen blows the save and the Rays suddenly had to potential winning run in scoring position with 1 out and Randy Arozarena coming up with a chance to be the hero. Jansen recorded a huge strikeout of Arozarena bringing up Harold Ramirez with 2 outs. Ramirez would go the opposite way with a fastball and hit a fly ball into no mans land along the RF line as Verdugo made a good effort but had too far to run as the ball would drop in just a couple feet in front of Verdugo for a walk off RBI single by Ramirez to give the Rays a thrilling come from behind victory 5-4

GAME NOTES
* The Rays were in danger of dropping the first 3 games of this 4 game series as Boston had a 4-1 lead in the 8th inning but the Rays would stun the Red Sox as they scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 8th off Schreiber and then 2 more in the bottom of the 9th as Yandy Diaz pinch hit RBI double tied the game and Harold Ramirez dropped a ball along the RF foul line to give Tampa Bay a walk off 5-4 victory

* Red Sox fall to 8-4 while the Rays get back to .500 at 6-6 on the season

* Chris Sale turned in another strong performance as he pitched 7 innings allowing 1 run on 5 hits with 1 walk & 9 Ks but did not factor in the decision after the bullpen imploded costing Sale a win

* Zach Eflin lasted just 4.2 innings allowing 4 runs on 8 hits with 1 walk & 4 Ks

* Rafael Devers went 1 for 5 with a solo HR for Boston and Devers is hitting .348 with 5 & 13 RBI on the season

* The Red Sox and Rays will play the finale of this 4 game series tomorrow night with the Red Sox looking to take 3 out of 4 from the Rays who will try to earn a split after dropping the first two games of the series. Corey Kluber is set to get the start for Boston against Jeffrey Springs for Tampa Bay.

Re: TNK MLB 23 SLIDERS

TNK - BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE
Game #13 of Season

Boston Red Sox (8-4) @ Tampa Bay Rays (6-6)
Pitching Matchup – Corey Kluber vs Jeffrey Springs

The Rays were threatening in the bottom of the 2nd inning as they put runners on the corners with 2 outs but Kluber would wiggle out of the jam as Taylor Walls popped up on the infield to Arroyo and the game was scoreless after 2 innings 0-0. The Rays opened the scoring in the bottom of the 3rd as Yandy Diaz doubled and Brandon Lowe worked a 9 pitch walk to put two men on with 2 outs for Jose Siri who gave the Rays a 1-0 lead with a RBI single up the middle. Isaac Paredes was up next and put together another long at bat as the Rays had Kluber up over 60 pitches and Paredes hit the ball hard on the ground but Yu Chang made a nice play ranging to his left a few steps as he went down to a knee to make the play before spinning as he got to his feet and firing a strong throw to end the 3rd inning with the Rays leading 1-0. Jeffrey Springs got into trouble in the top of the 4th as Rafael Devers singled and Justin Turner walked to put two men on with nobody out.. Masataka Yoshida beat out a double play ball setting up runners on the corners with 1 out for Bobby Dalbec who popped out behind the plate to Mejia for the 2nd out. Springs left a changeup over the plate to Kike Hernandez who lined a rocket 111 mph off the bat into LF for a RBI single tying the game 1-1. Springs bounced back to strikeout Arroyo avoiding the big inning. Francisco Mejia led off the bottom of the 4th by working a full count before lining a ball into the LF corner for a lead off double. Mejia advanced to 3rd base on a wild pitch by Kluber with 1 out and Taylor Walls would pickup a RBI as he grounded out to Chang at SS and Mejia came in to score giving Tampa Bay a 2-1 lead after 4 innings. Springs retired the side in the top of the 5th and the Rays added to their lead in the bottom of the 5th when left a cutter up in the zone and Brandon Lowe launched a 2-run HR into the RF stands to extend the Rays lead to 4-1. Kluber was up to 95 pitches and finished his outing by striking out Paredes to end the bottom of the 5th and send the game to the 6th inning with the Rays leading 4-1. Springs continued to pitch well for Tampa Bay setting down Devers, Turner and Yoshida in order in the top of the 6th while Kaleb Ort took over on the mound for the Red Sox to pitch the top of the 6th making his first appearance of the season. Ort worked around a 1 out walk to Raley and pitched a scoreless bottom of the 6th keeping the Sox within striking distance at 4-1. Springs got into trouble in the top of the 7th after back to back singles from Dalbec and Hernandez put two men on for Boston with nobody out. Springs got Arroyo to pop out and Connor Wong put a charge into a ball to right-center but Josh Lowe made the catch on the warning track to bring up Yu Chang with runners on the corners and 2 outs and Springs ran a ball in that hit Chang on the leg to load the bases for Rob Refsnyder. Kevin Cash came out of the Rays dugout to get Springs and bring in Ryan Thompson to face Refsnyder in a huge spot. Thompson would escape the jam as Refsnyder hit a soft fly towards the RF line but Margot would come on to make a nice running catch to end the treat as the Red Sox leave the bases loaded and the score remains 4-1. Ort retired the side in his second inning of work to send the game to the 8th inning with Tampa Bay leading 4-1. Thompson rand Jason Adam combined to pitch a scoreless top of the 8th and Josh Winckowski came on to pitch the bottom of the 8th for Boston. Isaac Paredes got a slider over the plate on the first pitch he saw with 1 out and belted it over the wall in LF for a solo HR to add an insurance run making it 5-1. Winckowski would get through the inning with no more damage and the game would head to the 9th inning with the Red Sox coming up trailing by a score of 5-1 and Calvin Faucher on to pitch for the Rays. Kike Hernandez started off the inning for Boston with a lead off double would retire Arroyo and Wong and the Red Sox were down to their final out. Yu Chang would hit a ground ball along the 3rd base line but Paredes made a nice play to his right and fired a strong throw across the diamond for the final out as the Rays win 5-1 to earn a series split

Re: TNK MLB 23 SLIDERS

Wondering if you see any changes coming after the recent update. I did notice that strikeouts seemed to be easier. Maybe it’s just me, but my pitchers have over the last three games had a combined 14 or more for the game. That just seemed higher then I was getting prior to the update Curious if you have seen this

Re: TNK MLB 23 SLIDERS

TNK - BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE
Game #14 of Season

Los Angeles Angels (7-5) @ Boston Red Sox (8-5)
Pitching Matchup – Patrick Sandoval vs Tanner Houck

The Red Sox jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the 1st on a RBI single by Devers and Patrick Sandoval was lucky to avoid the big inning as the Sox registered 4 hits but only scored 1 run. Tanner Houck was pitching well early for Boston as he cruised through his first 3 innings before a grounder back to the mound with 2 outs in the top of the 4th by Gio Urshela hit Houck on the pitching hand and he was forced to leave the game to have x-rays on his finger. Josh Winckowski came in to take over on the mound for Boston and retired Trout to end the frame. The score remained 1-0 until the bottom of the 5th when Yu Chang and Alex Verdugo led off with back to back singles and Justin Turner made it 3 straight hits with a RBI single to CF making it 2-0. Sandoval was again able to minimize the damage getting Refsnyder to ground into a 6-4-3 double play and Devers to ground out to end the inning and send the game to the 6th inning with Boston leading 2-0. Luis Rengifo led off the top of the 6th with a double and Winckowski would get the next two batters before Zach Neto punched a RBI single to RF cutting the Red Sox lead to 2-1. Ryan Brasier replaced Winckowski on the mound with Urshela coming up and Trout on deck. Urshela dropped a blooper down the RF line for a double bringing up Mike Trout with runners on 2nd & 3rd for a bi at bat. Brasier would make get Trout on a nasty slider away for a huge K to strand a pair in scoring position and end the frame with the Red Sox leading 2-1. Sandoval and Jaime Barria combined to pitch a scoreless bottom of the 6th and we would go to the 7th inning with Boston leading 2-1. Brasier struck out Ohtani, Renfroe and Ward in a dominant top of the 7th while Barria retired the side in the bottom half sending the game to the 8th inning with the Red Sox leading 2-1. Chris Martin was on to pitch the top of the 8th for Boston and gave up a lead off single to Luis Rengifo. Jared Walsh came on to pinch hit for Jake Lamb and Martin tried to put him away with a high fastball with two strikes and Walsh would drive it deep to RF sending Verdugo back to the track where he reached up but couldn't grab it as the ball hit the top of the wall and bounced into the Angels bullpen for a pinch hit go ahead 2-run HR giving the Angels a 3-2 lead. Gio Urshela added a solo HR to LF with 2 outs to extend the Los Angeles lead to 4-2. Matt Moore worked around a walk to Refsnyder and struck out Arroyo to end the bottom of the 8th sending the game to the 9th inning with Los Angeles leading 4-2. Richard Bleier pitched a 1-2-3 top of the 9th and the Red Sox would come to bat trailing 4-2 in the bottom of the 9th with Carlos Estevez coming on to try and close it out for LA. Triston Casas popped up for the 1st out and Reese McGuire pinch hit for Wong and flew out to the warning track in RF and the Red Sox were down to their final out with Yu Chang coming up. Estevez would blow a fastball past Chang for a strikeout to end the game as the Angels win 4-2
