Except Hazard usually carried the team, Rapinoe was awful. Shouldn't even be starting at this point, she's been one of our worst attackers.

I've never been a fan of Jill Ellis at any point. She's an absolute dinosaur who gets out-coached on a regular basis, but still wins because we also have the most gifted players in the world on a regular basis.

This US team would be so much scarier with a better coach. Sadly, I think even if we go out to France they won't fire her.

At least she converted the penalties.

Another thing about that game that made it such a mess was the fact that Spain got called for 14 fouls. And no one picked up a yellow for persistent fouling despite the one defender fouling Alex Morgan 3 times in the first half alone. The lone yellow they got was on that hard, late sliding tackle on Rapinoe later on in the 2nd half. It's hard to get much going when you're constantly getting hacked with basically no consequences.

Yeah and let’s not forget that Spain’s only goal came off a blunder trying to play out of the back.

Canada finally woke up a little

What a save by Sweden on the penalty!

What is that, 15 shots fired into the upper deck by Canada?

Hmmm...I think that’s a penalty.

Yeah but this is basically how they always play under Ellis.

They can thrash lower level teams, and like I said they can still win bigger games, but there's never really been a time where Ellis legitimately outwitted the other coach. Her tactics are really outdated, they only work because our players are so much better than pretty much everyone.
