Diego Costa was picked by Spain, completing the heel turn.

I've always wonder why Messi didn't try to join Spain when he had the chance.

I think age has a lot to do with it. Messi made his Argentina debut at 18, so you could say he always felt like he was wanted. Although saying that, Diego Costa is only 25 and has only really come onto the scene in the past couple of years.

Argentina was also a top 5 squad back in 2005 while Spain had yet to break through. It is scary to think how good Spain would have been/be if they had Messi up top although Torres & Villa were very good until injuries hit.

http://www.espn.co.uk/football/sport/story/309561.html

Luis Suarez had knee surgery to repair a meniscus problem but he insists he'll be ready for the World Cup.

That would be a huge blow to Uruguay's hopes if he has to miss a game or two (or three).
