Can't remember recent instances of something like this going well, at best neutral. Acknowledging that they are obviously different situations, it reminds me of Kobe's press conference and Tiger's.

Who's doing the translation for Ohtani's press conference, I wonder?

Oh, no doubt. You can't get the genie back in the bottle. If Rose and Shoeless Joe were ethically bankrupt and needed a lifetime ban, so to are the people in MLB that decided its okay for them to now get in bed with gambling. Again, I have no problem with gambling. But MLB should have never went the ''Do as I say, not as I do'' route. And again, its too late now tho, genie out of the bottle.

This whole thing screams cover-up. Once the lawyers got involved, the whole story changed. Hopefully the FBI has some proof on who made the transfers.

Horrendous decision to have a press conference.

Zero benefit.

20?

Not sure we could name 5 legitimate options in this economy.

Vegas isn't even clamouring for them, from the sounds of it.

No presser after all. Ohtani will just release a statement in about 3 hours.

Baseball is one of the harder ones to get a team for. Hockey and basketball you just need an arena build that can hold 15,000+ , and some cities are ok doing that without even getting a team because you can still use it for concerts and other events.

Baseball, it's more complex. Manfred has said before the league would consider a place like Montreal if they have a full plan in place for a new stadium, but also seems like Montreal or any possible ownership group doesn't want to spend time getting a plan in place without knowing if they're getting a team for sure.

Same would be true all over I'd imagine. "Build it and they will come" vs "Come and they will build it".

Yeah, his camp need to do and say as little as possible. They've already trapped themselves multiple times. I want to hear how they explain away not going after his interpreter for the supposed theft of the $1M, because they definitely don't want that investigation happening. That would involve evidence collection and testimony.

Yeah, I stand by 20. The real problem is none of those 20 are as sexy hip and flashy as Vegas. That's what's driving John Fisher to picking Vegas. If they move to Vegas, they will find it appealing for ten years, then see what a fickle town it really is. The Braves played 13 years in Milwaukee. The A's played 13 years in KC. I give the A's 13 years in Vegas before moving on to greener pastures.
