What are they going to pay Prescott? Everyone is saying a max deal.

Whatever he wants. Dak has literally all of the leverage:

- MVP-caliber 2023 regular season, easily the best season of his career
- $60M 2024 cap hit
- $36M 2025 cap hit regardless whether he’s on the roster (void year)
- no-tag clause
- no-trade clause

I would expect to see a record-setting contract.

We might see CeeDee Lamb extended before the Dak deal is done, though. The math just barely works out that a market-rate extension for Lamb can fit under the 2024 salary cap assuming a veteran minimum 2024 base salary (which is common as most of the initial money in contract extensions is paid as a signing bonus as opposed to salary).

Yeah as long as you don't look at his post season games he is amazing.

I'm 53 and thinking I'm not going to be rooting for the Cowboys anymore. I'm not picking any new team or anything. I'm just so disgusted with it all, and disheartened that I'll just watch Redzone and not really have a team.

Resigning McCarthy was iffy, but resigning Dak the Clown for Mahomes money is just the final straw. I honestly cannot stand him and his stupid, smiling grin he has.

What are the odds that Parsons flat-out refuses to play LB?

There's been rumors of this, to some degree...

He's arguably better used as a hybrid backer, and can create just as much difficulty for the OL via uncertainty as he can by rushing every down.

The defense clearly needed LB help...and either Quinn or Jones is too stubborn to use him there...or Parsons said he wouldn't do it.

If that's the case...trade him at his peak.

I don't think Parsons refused. I think Quinn cares more about
turnovers than yards. This formula was fine when you score a
lot. Or play really bad teams (Pretty much half the schedule)

Parsons needs to be a full time Linebacker, that rushes the passer
on obvious passing situations. Because he is too small for DE.
All good teams run the the ball and are physical up front.

Was McCarthy coach when the Packers lost all their Interior
Linebackers and they moved Clay Matthews to ILB?
He hated, but did it for the team.

If he did refuse to play LB. I'd agree with you, but I don't
think that happened.

Dallas Cowboys War Room

In 2023, Micah Parsons led all edge defenders in both double team percentage and pass rush win rate, per ESPN.

Parsons additionally joined the likes of Reggie White and Derrick Thomas — both Hall of Fame full-time pass rushers — as the only players in NFL history to post 40+ total sacks across their first three NFL seasons and 13+ sacks in each of their first three NFL seasons.

Any snap Micah Parsons takes where he is not rushing the passer is an obvious bail-out for opposing passing offenses. Under no circumstances should he return to off-ball linebacker full time.

Re: Dallas Cowboys War Room

I understand that he is arguably the best pass-rusher in the game.

Adding some wrinkles wouldn't be bad, though.

The right side of the OL, for example, will have to account for him when he lines up over them...and the OL will adjust...if he doesn't rush, mismatches are likely created both on the left side and middle of the OL, and they have to adjust at the snap.

Not knowing if he will rush or drop into the flat or curl zone creates opportunities for interceptions.

We've seen several games this year where MP was not a determining factor largely because teams would scheme away from him or, most often it seemed, he would be rushing the passer every down and would be missing in run defense or beaten by quick releases.

When Dallas is leading, let the dog hunt...but otherwise, he could arguably be more dangerous if used more dynamically.

Then they need to change to a 3-4, he is too small to play end.
Teams just run at him. He takes a pounding at End. And wears
down as the year goes on.

Everyone knows hes a top rusher, but his career will be short
playing DE.
