Rumors I've heard today....

Team is talking to agent for former Bills DB Antoine Winfield. (I would LOVE this pickup!!)

Garcia coming in for a visit today. (Interesting)

though i think bring Garcia in more for protocol. Just trying to gauge his interest and try to sell him on being a Cowboy.

According to the NY papers, Winfield is close to signing with the Jets, but may also visit the Vikings. Didn't say anything about Dallas though...

Even if we signed Winfield, i'd like to resign Edwards. You need 3 good corners especially in case one goes down to injury. Still don't know how Donald Mitchell will come back from the achilles.

What about Pete Hunter? I just don't consider Mario Edwards a good corner.

did you actually watch Pete Hunter in the slot this year. Mario Edwards, Pro Bowler he's far from. However, he's tall, has the long arms to jam receivers at the line. He's not fast at all so he has to rely on proper technique to be successful. If his technique is on, he's pretty reliable. If it's off, he gets burned and doesn't have the speed to make up ground. A couple of the pass interference calls that went against him were bad calls but one he got that rep in the Miami game, refs were quick with the flag. I think he's decent, he hasn't done a hideous job for us. Pete Hunter, if he doesn't put it together this year, he may never get it.

Granted there was a bad PI call against him in the Miami game but, he was rightly called on many others. Chris Chambers looked like a hall-a-famer that game. I think Pete Hunter has more potential.

Re: Cowboys War Room II

Garner is definetely free as he opted out of his contract linkage , I would really enjoy watching winfield and Newman lock down the outside. Grant wistrom would be really nice because this guy has a motor that won't quit. I really like our defensive tackle rotation with blade and Stewart, but Rod coleman would really shore up our line. We really need someone to spot Glover every now and then. We can get that in the draft. I think Garcia would be a good fit, but only at the right price. He is going to want to much money IMO. btw, with Johnson I think Carter will continue to improve. PLEASE DON'T TURN MY COMMENTS INTO A QUINCY BASHING/PRAISING SESSIONS. I also would like to see Armstead (once again, at the right price), especially since there has been talk about using the 3-4 on a partial basis.
