Re: TNK MLB 24 SLIDERS

TNK - BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE
Game #19 of Season

Cleveland Guardians (9-9) @ Boston Red Sox (12-6)
Pitching Matchup – Logan Allen vs Garrett Whitlock

The Red Sox have taken the first two games of this 4 game series with the Guardians at Fenway Park and Boston looks to extend their winning streak to 6 games with Garrett Whitlock on the mound while Logan Allen gets the start for Cleveland

Garrett Whitlock and Logan Allen were both pitching well early and the game was scoreless after 3 innings as we would head to the 4th inning tied 0-0. The Guardians opened the scoring in the top of the 4th when Andres Gimenez doubled to lead off the inning and Jose Ramirez followed with a RBI single putting Cleveland up 1-0. The Red Sox answered in the bottom of the 4th when Allen hung a breaking ball to Devers who launched a solo HR into the Guardians bullpen tying the game 1-1. Whitlock pitched a scoreless top of the 5th and Allen would retire the first two batters in the bottom of the 5th before leaving a changeup out over the plate to Bobby Dalbec who crushed a 419 foot blast over the green monster to give Boston a 2-1 lead. Andres Gimenez drew a 2 out walk in the top of the 6th but Whitlock would retire Jose Ramirez on a ground out to Dalbec at first base to end the frame. Ceddanne Rafaela singled with 1 out in the bottom of the 6th and was running with the pitch on a full count delivery from Allen to Devers who lined a ball in the gap in left-center for a RBI double as Rafaela scored to make it 3-1. Nick Sandlin replaced Allen on the mound for Cleveland and got out of the inning with no further damage sending the game to the 7th inning with Boston leading 3-1. Whitlock made quick work of the Guardians with a 1-2-3 top of the 7th. Cade Smith came on to pitch the bottom of the 7th for Cleveland and gave up a lead off single to Yoshida before Dalbec got a hanging breaking ball from Smith and hit his 2nd HR of the ball game to push the Sox lead to 5-1. Ceddanne Rafaela singled with 2 outs and stole second base but Ramon Laureano made a nice running catch down the RF line to retire Devers and end the inning as we would move to the 8th inning with the Red Sox in front 5-1. Bo Naylor doubled with 1 out in the top of the 8th and Whitlock would get Arias to ground out for the 2nd out but was running out of gas and would exit as Justin Slaten came in from the pen to face Steven Kwan with 2 outs. Slaten walked Kwan to put runners on the corners for Gimenez who got the barrel on a fastball from Slaten and drove it high and deep to CF sending Rafaela back towards the triangle and he was unable to make the catch as he crashed into the wall and Gimenez would wind up at third base with a stand up triple and 2 RBI as the Guardians cut the Red Sox lead to 5-3. Slaten should have been out of the inning as he would get Jose Ramirez to hit a bouncer up the middle that Story got to but sailed his throw over the head of Dalbec for a throwing error as Gimenez scores to make it a 5-4 game and Ramirez would wind up in scoring position at second base. Alex Cora made the move to lefty Brennan Bernardino to face Josh Naylor who drove a deep fly ball to CF but Rafaela would get back to make the catch in front of the warning track bringing the frame to an end but Cleveland now trailed by just one run 5-4. Sam Hentges came on to pitch a scoreless bottom of the 8th for Cleveland sending the game to the 9th inning with Boston leading 5-4. The Guardians had Tyler Freeman, Will Brennan and Ramon Laureano scheduled to hit in the top of the 9th against Kenley Jansen who was on to try and close it out for the Red Sox. Freeman battled to a full count before Jansen struck him out on a cutter for the 1st out bringing up Brennan who flew out to Yoshida in shallow LF and the Guardians were quickly down to their final out. Brayan Rocchio came out to pinch hit for Laureano with 2 outs and Jansen would get him swinging on a cutter down and in for a strikeout to end the game as Jansen records the save and the Red Sox hang on to win 5-4

GAME NOTES
* The Red Sox were leading 5-1 before Cleveland cut the lead to 5-4 with 3 runs in the 8th inning but Jansen would slam the door in the 9th to record the save and the Red Sox win 5-4 and have taken the first 3 games of this 4 game series

Re: TNK MLB 24 SLIDERS

TNK - BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE
Game #20 of Season

Cleveland Guardians (9-10) @ Boston Red Sox (13-6)
Pitching Matchup – Ben Lively vs Tanner Houck

The Red Sox are looking to complete the sweep of this 4 game series with the Guardians at Fenway Park and extend their winning streak to 7 games as they send Tanner Houck to the mound against Ben Lively who gets the start for Cleveland in the series finale

Tanner Houck cruised through the first 3 innings without allowing a hit and Ben Lively had retired the first 8 Red Sox batters before hanging a curveball to Ceddanne Rafaela who launched a solo HR over the green monster in LF to give Boston a 1-0 lead. Houck struck out the side in the top of the 4th and was up to 6 Ks in the game. Gabriel Arias led off the top of the 5th with a ground ball through the right side for a single for the Guardians first hit of the night but Houck would retire Gimenez and then get Laureano to ground into a 3-6-3 double play to end the frame and keep it a 1-0 ball game. Houck walked Steven Kwan but would get through the top of the 6th by retiring Brennan and Ramirez to make it 6 shutout innings and the score remained 1-0. Lively retired Devers and Story to begin the bottom of the 6th before Triston Casas crushed a fastball from Lively 416 feet for a solo HR to CF making it 2-0. Kwan made a very nice leaping catch as he crashed into the green monster to retire Yoshida ending the 6th and sending the game to the 7th inning with the Red Sox leading 2-0. Houck recorded his 8th K in a 1-2-3 top of the 7th to finish off a stellar outing. Tim Herrin came on to pitch the bottom of the 7th for Cleveland and the Red Sox would load the bases for Devers with 2 outs. Devers would hit a pop up that would drop in to no mans land in shallow CF for a RBI single as two runs score to open up a 4-0 lead for Boston. Pedro Avila who was just acquired from San Diego replaced Herrin on the mound and retired Story to send the game to the 8th inning with the Red Sox up 4-0. Josh Winckowski took over on the mound for Boston and retired the side in order in the top of the 8th and Avila pitched a scoreless bottom of the 8th to send the game to the 9th inning with Boston leading 4-0. The Guardians had managed just 1 hit in the ball game and came up to bat in the 9th trailing by 4 runs with Kwan, Brennan and Ramirez due to hit against Winckowski. Kwan popped out to Casas in foul ground for the 1st out and Brennan hit a soft liner to Devers at third base for the 2nd out and the Guardians were down to their final out. Ramirez hit a fly ball down the LF line and Jarren Duran would make a nice running catch to end the ball game as the Red Sox win 4-0

GAME NOTES
* The Red Sox defeat the Indians 4-0 to complete the 4 game sweep behind an outstanding pitching performance from Tanner Houck and Josh Winckowski who combined to one-hit the Guardians

* The Red Sox extend their win streak to 7 games and improve to 14-6 on the season while the Guardians fall to 9-11 on the season

* Triston Casas went 1 for 4 with a solo HR and is starting to heat up as he hit 3 HR in the series. Casas is now hitting .260 with 6 HR & 10 RBI on the season

* Ceddanne Rafaela went 1 for 3 with a solo HR and is off to a great start to his rookie season as Rafaela is now hitting .328 with 3 HR & 4 RBI while playing excellent defense in CF. Rafaela is able to play all over the diamond and Alex Cora plans to get him some work in the infield as the season progresses

* Tanner Houck was outstanding as he pitched 7 shutout innings allowing just 1 hit with 2 walks & 8 Ks as he earns his first win of the season and improves to 1-2 with a 4.50 ERA

* Ben Lively was just promoted from AAA Columbus to make the start and would give the Guardians 6 innings allowing 2 runs on 5 hits with 4 Ks but took the loss

* The Red Sox wrap up the 10 game home stand with a record of 7-3 after they lost the first 3 games of the home stand to the Orioles before winning 7 straight as they swept their 3 game series with the Angels and 4 game series with the Guardians. The Red Sox now head out on a 6 game road trip beginning with a 3 game inter-league series against the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park. The Pirates are off to a pretty good start to the season as they are 1 game behind the 1st place Cardinals in the NL Central with a record of 11-8. Re: TNK MLB 24 SLIDERS

TNK - BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE
Game #21 of Season

Boston Red Sox (14-6) @ Pittsburgh Pirates (11-8)
Pitching Matchup – Brayan Bello vs Quinn Priester

The Red Sox come into Pittsburgh on a 7 game win streak as they get set to begin a 3 game series with the Pirates at PNC Park in what should be an entertaining series as the Pirates are currently 11-8 and sit 1 game back of the 1st place Cardinals in the NL Central while the Red Sox sit 1 game back of the 1st place Orioles in the AL East with a record of 14-6. Brayan Bello gets the start for Boston to open the series while Quinn Priester makes the start for Pittsburgh

The Red Sox opened the scoring in the top of the 1st as they put a couple men on base for Tyler O'Neill with 2 outs and O'Neill would deliver a RBI double that brought Abreu & Devers in to give Boston a 2-0 lead. The Pirates responded in the bottom of the 2nd when Oneil Cruz lined a ball the opposite way that carried over the wall at the LF foul pole to cut the Sox lead 2-1. Brayan Bello was up to 5 Ks after a 1-2-3 bottom of the 3rd to send the game to the 4th inning with the Red Sox leading 2-1. Priester had settled in nicely and got Yoshida to ground into a 4-6-3 double play to end the top of the 4th while Bello picked up two more Ks in a 1-2-3 bottom of the 4th and we would head to the 5th inning with the score still 2-1. Priester induced another big double play when Rafaela grounded into a 5-4-3 double play ending the top of the 5th and Bello retired the Pirates on just 7 pitches in the bottom of the inning sending the game to the 6th with Boston up 2-1. Priester retired the Sox in order in the top of the 6th and Bello matched him making it 13 Pirates in a row retired by Bello who was now up to 9 Ks in the ball game as we head to the 7th inning with Boston leading 2-1. Triston Casas singled to lead off the top of the 7th and that would be all for Priester as Derek Shelton came out to the mound and made the move to Hunter Stratton as Priester exits after delivering an excellent start in his season debut after being called up the majors. Stratton recorded 2 outs before Connor Wong lined a single to CF putting two on with 2 outs for Enmanuel Valdez who battled to a full count before walking on the 10th pitch of the at bat to load the bases for Ceddanne Rafaela. Stratton would escape the jam as Rafaela hit a pop up to shallow RF along RF foul line that looked like it was gonna drop in but Jack Suwinski did a great job to get there and make a nice running catch to end the threat as Boston strands the bases loaded and the score remains 2-1. Bello retired Reynolds on a ground ball to Rafaela at SS to start the bottom of the 7th before striking out Cruz and Suwinski both looking for his 10th & 11th Ks of the game and Bello had now retired 16 straight to send the game to the 8th inning with the Red Sox up 2-1. Ryan Borucki came on to pitch the top of the 8th and retied Duran and Abreu before Devers gave the ball a ride but Taylor made the catch on the warning track in CF to end the frame. Bello was at 96 pitches as he returned to the mound to begin the bottom of the 8th having retired the last 16 batters he faced and has not allowed a base runner since the 2nd inning. Bello struck out Rowdy Tellez looking on a back door slider for his 12th K and got both Michael Taylor and Connor Joe to ground out to Valdez at second base as Bello finishes his night by retiring the final 19 Pirates batters he faced and we would head to the 9th inning with the Red Sox leading 2-1. Borucki pitched a 1-2-3 top of the 9th and the Pirates would come to bat in the bottom of the 9th needing one run as they trail 2-1 with Kenley Jansen coming on to try and close it out for Boston. Pittsburgh would have Joey Bart, Jared Triolo and Andrew McCutchen due up in the bottom of the 9thrwith Bryan Reynolds and ONeil Cruz lurking should the Pirates put a man or two on base. Bart led off with a deep drive down the RF line but Tyler O'Neill would get there to make the catch just shy of the wall on the warning track for the 1st out. Triolo followed with a hard hit ball to RF that stayed up and was right at O'Neill who made the catch and the Pirates were down to their final out. McCutchen would rip a ball up the middle for a single that breaks up a string of 21 straight Pirates who were retired and Brian Reynold would step to the plate with 2 outs and the tying run on base. Reynolds hit a sinking liner to CF that dropped in front of Duran and suddenly the Pirates have the tying run in scoring position and potential winning run now on first base with Oneil Cruz coming up. Jansen threw a first pitch slider in for a strike and followed it with a cutter in on the hands but Cruz was able to turn on it and drove it deep to RF sending O'Neill racing back and the ball would hit off the RF wall for extra bases as McCutchen scored from second and Reynolds rounded third coming home and beat the relay throw to the plate sending PNC Park into a frenzy as the Pirates win 3-2 on a walk off two-run double by Oneil Cruz

GAME NOTES
* The Red Sox were 1 out away from winning their 8th straight ball game after a masterful performance from Brayan Bello on the mound as Kenley Jansen came on to pitch the bottom of the 9th inning with a 2-1 lead and recorded the first two outs with ease as the Pirates were down to their final out with nobody on before singles by McCutchen and Reynolds put two men on with 2 outs for Oneil Cruz who smoked a ball off the wall in right-center for a two run double giving the Pirates a dramatic 3-2 walk off victory

* The Red Sox loss snaps the Red Sox 7 game win streak and they fall to 14-7 on the season while the Pirates improve to 12-8 on the season

* Oneil Cruz was the hero for Pittsburgh as he supplied all of their offense with a solo HR in the 2nd inning and the walk off two run double in the 9th. Cruz would go 2 for 4 with a double, HR & 3 RBI on the night and is now hitting .351 with 6 HR & 14 RBI on the season

* Tyler O'Neill knocked in the only two runs for the Red Sox in the 1st inning. O'Neill would finish 1 for 4 with a double & 2 RBI and is hitting .323 with 5 HR & 14 RBI on the season

* Brayan Bello was outstanding as he allowed the solo HR to Cruz in the 2nd inning and then slammed the door retiring his final 19 batters faced. Bello would finish with 8.0 innings pitched allowing 1 run on 2 hits and 12 Ks and was in line for the win before the Pirates erupted against Jansen in the 9th

* Quinn Priester was just called up from AAA Indianapolis and delivered a very good start in his first appearance of the season as he 6 innings allowing 2 runs on 4 hits with 1 walk & 4 Ks earning a no decision

* The Red Sox and Pirates will play the 2nd game of this 3 game series at PNC Park tomorrow and Boston will send Nick Pivetta to the mound against Mitch Keller for Pittsburgh

Re: TNK MLB 24 SLIDERS

TNK - BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE
Game #22 of Season

Boston Red Sox (14-7) @ Pittsburgh Pirates (12-8)
Pitching Matchup – Nick Pivetta vs Mitch Keller

The Red Sox scored in the top of the 1st when Story doubled and Casas followed with a RBI double down the RF line giving the Red Sox a 1-0 lead. The score remained 1-0 until the bottom of the 3rd when the Pirates bats came to life as Reynolds drove in two runs with a RBI double and Suwinski came through with a RBI single with 2 outs making it 3-1. Nick Pivetta was forced to exit with elbow discomfort as Chase Anderson took over on the mound and gave up a RBI single to McCutchen to make it 4-1 before striking out Tellez to end the 3rd and send the game to the 4th inning with Pittsburgh leading 4-1. Mitch Keller made quick work of the Red Sox in the top of the 4th and Jared Triolo made it 5-1 with a RBI single in the bottom of the 5th as we would head to the 5th inning with the Pirates up 5-1. Keller pitched a 1-2-3 top of the 5th and things went from bad to worse for Boston as Taylor picked up a two out RBI on a ground ball up the middle that was knocked down on a diving stop by Story but he had no play and Suwinski scored to make it 6-1. Story was forced to leave the game after injuring his shoulder on the play. Pablo Reyes came in to take over at SS and Anderson would strikeout Henry Davis to end the 5th sending the game to the 6th inning with Pittsburgh leading 6-1. The Red Sox bats came alive in the top of the 6th as Jarren Duran led off with a single, stole second base and came in on a RBI single by Yoshida making it 6-2. Pablo Reyes followed by dropping a ball in down the LF line for a double to put runners on 2nd & 3rd and the Red Sox were threatening to have a big inning still with nobody out. Tyler O'Neill beat out an infield single with 1 out as Yoshida scored to cut the deficit to 6-3. Wilyer Abreu picked up a RBI as he brought home Reyes with a sac fly to CF making it 6-4. Josh Winckowski pitched a scoreless bottom of the 6th and we would head to the 7th with Pittsburgh leading 6-4. Josh Fleming pitched a scoreless top of the 7th and Winckowski struck out Henry Davis to end the bottom of the 7th sending the game to the 8th with the Pirates up 6-4. Greg Weissert pitched a scoreless bottom of the 8th and we would go to the 9th inning with the Red Sox coming up to bat in the top of the 9th trailing 6-4. Pirates close David Bednar was on to try and close it out for Pittsburgh and struck out Abreu for 1st out. Bobby Dalbec battled to a full count and fouled off several two strike pitches before flying out to Reynolds in LF and the Red Sox were down to their final out. Re: TNK MLB 24 SLIDERS

TNK - BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE
Game #23 of Season

Boston Red Sox (14-8) @ Pittsburgh Pirates (13-8)
Pitching Matchup – Kutter Crawford vs Martin Perez

The Pirates took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st when Bryan Reynolds walked and came around to score on a RBI double by Ke'Bryan Hayes. Pittsburgh was threatening in the bottom of the 3rd with two men on and nobody out but Crawford would get Reynolds to ground into a big 5-4-3 double play and then retire Hayes to get out of the jam keeping the score 1-0. Martin Perez retired the Sox in order in the top of the 4th and has yet to allow a hit. The Pirates blew a chance to add to the lead in the bottom of the 4th after Tellez led off with a double and wound up at third after Yoshida overthrew the cutoff man but Pittsburgh failed to bring him in as McCutchen popped out for the 1st out and Suwinski followed with a fly ball to medium depth CF where Rafaela made the catch with Tellez tagging up and fired a strong throw to the plate to nail Tellez for the 3rd out ending the threat and sending the game to the 5th with Pittsburgh leading 1-0. Bobby Dalbec singled for the Sox first hit leading off the 5th but Wilyer Abreu bounced back to Perez to start a 1-6-3 double play and Wong flew out to end the frame. The Pirates put two men on in the bottom of the 5th and Crawford would get Hayes to fly out to Yoshida in LF to end the threat and send the game to the 6th with Pittsburgh leading 1-0. Perez pitched another 1-2-3 frame in the top of the 6th and Crawford left a cutter over the plate to Rowdy Tellez who launched a solo HR to RF that almost left the stadium traveling 403 feet to make it 2-0. Joely Rodriguez replaced Crawford and got through the rest of the inning as we would head to the 7th with Pittsburgh up 2-0. Rafael Devers and Tyler O'Neill reached on back to back singles for just the 2nd & 3rd Red Sox hits of the ball game putting two men on with nobody out in the top of the 7th but Perez would get Yoshida to ground into a tailor made 4-6-3 double play for two huge outs. Bobby Dalbec was up next and lined out to Cruz at SS to end the inning and keep the score 2-0. Rodriguez returned to the mound for the bottom of the 7th and had 2 outs when he got a ground ball that should have ended the inning to Devers who pulled Dalbec off the bag at first base with an errant throw allowing Cruz to reach base and keep the inning alive for Pittsburgh. The error by Devers proved costly as the Pirates made the Red Sox pay as Reynolds RBI double in the gap made it 3-0 and Hayes made it 4-0 with a RBI single to RF before Tellez grounded out to bring the inning to a close as the Pirates score a pair of unearned runs to extend their lead to 4-0 after 7 innings. Perez was under 80 pitches as he returned to the mound for the top of the 8th and the Red Sox would threaten as Connor Wong drew a 1 out walk and Pablo Reyes followed with a single to put runners on the corners with 1 out. Enmanuel Valdez came on to pinch hit for David Hamilton but Perez would get him to bounce to Cruz at SS who took it to the bag himself and fired a strong throw to first base for the inning ending double play as the Sox strand a pair and the score remains 4-0. The Pirates added to the lead against Chris Martin on RBI base hits by Suwinski and Taylor in the bottom of the 8th and we would head to the 9th inning with the Pirates leading 6-0. The Red Sox came up to bat trailing 6-0 and Perez returned to the mound looking to record the final 3 outs and finish off a complete game shutout. Tyler O'Neill spoiled the shutout with 1 out when Perez hung a breaking ball and O'Neill belted a 2-run HR to LF making it 6-2. That would be all for Perez as Ryan Borucki came on retired Yoshida on a fly ball to LF and the Red Sox were down to their final out. Bobby Dalbec grounded out to Cruz at SS to end the game and the Pirates complete the 3 game sweep of the Red Sox with a 6-2 win

GAME NOTES
* The Red Sox play a sloppy game and lose 6-2 as they are swept by the Pirates in Pittsburgh who take all 3 games from Boston

* The Red Sox have now lost 3 in a row after they had previously won 7 straight and fall to 14-9 on the season while the Pirates have won 3 straight to improve to 14-8 on the season

* Rowdy Tellez hit his 2nd HR of the season for Pittsburgh and the Pirates had 5 different players with RBI as Ke'Bryan Hayes 2 (18), Bryan Reynolds (12), Jack Suwinski (5), Rowdy Tellez (8) and Michael Taylor (11) all drove in runs

* Tyler O'Neill supplied the only offense for Boston going 2 for 4 with a HR & 2 RBI. O'Neill is having a great start to his first season in Boston as he is hitting .329 with 6 HR & 17 RBI

* Kutter Crawford pitched pretty well for Boston pitching 5+ innings allowing 2 runs on 7 hits with 2 walks & 4 Ks but took the loss falling to 0-1 with a 3.26 ERA

* Martin Perez has had a rough start to the season but he was excellent in todays ball game as he was 2 outs away from a complete game shutout when he was taken deep by O'Neill. Perez finished with a line of 8.1 innings pitched allowing 2 runs on 5 hits with 2 walks & 5 Ks as he picks up the win and is now 2-2 with a 6.41 RA on the season

* The Red Sox will have a day off tomorrow as they travel to Cleveland to begin a 3 game series with the Guardians at Progressive Field. The Red Sox and Guardians met for a 4 game series in Boston just last week that saw the Red Sox sweep the Guardians taking all 4 games at Fenway Park. Boston will send Garrett Whitlock to the mound in the opening game of the series while Logan Allen makes the start for Cleveland

Re: TNK MLB 24 SLIDERS

TNK - BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE
Game #24 of Season

Boston Red Sox (14-9) @ Cleveland Guardians (11-12)
Pitching Matchup – Garrett Whitlock vs Logan Allen

Logan Allen and Garrett Whitlock were both pitching well early and the game was scoreless after 3 innings. Boston opened the scoring in the top of the 4th when Jarren Duran singled and was running on the pitch when Triston Casas lined a ball in the gap for a RBI double putting the Red Sox up 1-0. Whitlock pitched another scoreless frame and struck out Jose Ramirez to end the bottom of the 4th sending the game to the 5th with Boston leading 1-0. The score remained 1-0 into the 6th inning and Logan Allen would get Devers to ground into a 3-6-3 double play to end the top of the 6th. The Guardians were threatening for the first time in the bottom of the 6th when singles by Estevan Florial and Brayan Rocchio put runners on the corners with 1 out for Steven Kwan who drove in Florial with a RBI sac fly to LF tying the game 1-1. Cleveland had two on with 2 outs for Jose Ramirez who fouled off 3 changeups away before Whitlock came up and in with a fastball for the K to end the threat and send the game to the 7th inning tied 1-1. Allen and Whitlock pitched 1-2-3 frames in the 7th and we would head to the 8th inning tied 1-1. Nick Sandlin took over on the mound for the top of the 8th and gave up a lead off single to Yoshida before retiring Wong and Rafaela before Enmanuel Valdez would pinch hit for Pablo Reyes with 2 outs. Valdez lined a rocket to RF but Florial would get there to make the catch ending the frame with the score still tied 1-1. Whitlock was at 78 pitches through 7 innings and returned to the mound to begin the bottom of the 8th. Whitlock finished off an excellent outing with a 1-2-3 bottom of the 8th to send the game to the 9th inning with the score tied 1-1. Sam Hentges was on to pitch the top of the 9th with the top of the order coming up for Boston. Hentges retired Duran before Devers dropped a single into LF to put a man on for Tyler O'Neill with 1 out. Hentges bounced a pitch in the dirt that got away from Naylor allowing Devers to move into scoring position and take away the double play possibility with 1 out. O'Neill would fly out to Florial in RF for a huge 2nd out bringing up Casas with 2 outs. Hentges would get Casas to fly out to Kwan deep down the LF line to end the threat and we would go to the bottom of the 9th with the Guardians coming up to bat with a chance to walk off with the win with the top of their order due up against Chris Martin who was coming on to pitch for Boston. Steven Kwan led off with a liner into CF for a single putting the winning run on base for Cleveland with nobody out. Gimenez would lay down a sac bunt to move Kwan into scoring position with 1 out for Jose Ramirez who Alex Cora would intentionally walk to set up the double play ball with Josh Naylor coming to the plate. Naylor would hit a chopper out in front of the plate and Wong would fire to first base for the sure out putting runners on 2nd & 3rd with 2 outs for Will Brennan. Cora called for another intentional walk to load the bases and set up the out at any base with Tyler Freeman coming up. Martin would blow a 97 mph fastball past Freeman for a huge K as the Guardians leave the bases loaded and we were headed to extra innings with the score tied 1-1. Bobby Dalbec led off the top of the 10th with a deep shot just over the head of Freeman in CF but Casas who was the extra innings runner had to hold at third base on the play putting runners on 2nd & 3rd with nobody out. Hentges intentionally walked Yoshida to load the bases for Connor Wong with no outs as the Red Sox were threatening to have a big inning and put some runs on the board. Hentges fell behind 3 & 1 to Wong who smoked a ball the opposite way towards right-center but Florial would get there to make a nice catch on the run but Casas would race home with the go ahead run making it 2-1 and Dalbec would tag and advance to third base setting up runners on the corners for Ceddanne Rafaela with 1 out. Hentges came back with huge strikeout of Rafaela for the 2nd out and then struck out Valdez to end the inning as the Sox manage to score just the one run and lead it 2-1. The Guardians came up to bat in the bottom of the 10th with Freeman on second base as the extra innings runner with Kenley Jansen on to try and close it out for Boston. Jansen started the bottom of the 10th with a big K of Florial for the 1st out. Bo Naylor popped up to Devers on the infield grass and the Guardians were down to their final out with Brayan Rocchio coming to the plate. Jansen had two strikes on Rocchio who fouled off a couple pitches to stay alive before getting jammed with a cutter but he was able to hit the ball on the ground up the middle for a RBI single as Freeman scored to tie the game 2-2. Kwan dropped a soft liner into CF for a single putting runners on the corners with 2 outs for Andres Gimenez with Jose Ramirez lurking in the on deck circle. Jansen came back to strikeout Gimenez looking for a big K to end the inning and we would move on to the 11th inning tied at 2-2. Tim Herrin pitched a scoreless top of the 11th for Cleveland and Josh Winckowski came on to pitch the bottom of the 11th for Boston and intentionally walked Ramirez to start the inning and try to set up a double play ball. Josh Naylor hit a ground ball down the third base line but Devers made a great diving stop and threw to second but Valdez was unable to turn the double play as Naylor just beat the throw setting up runners at the corners for Brennan with 1 out. Winckowski intentionally walked Brennan to bring up Freeman with the bases loaded and 1 out. Winckowski struck out Freeman looking at a 97 mph fastball for the 2nd out and Florial swinging at a cutter down and in as he escapes the jam and sends the game to the 12th inning tied 2-2. Rocchio made a nice play ranging to his right on a ground ball by Wong and made a spinning throw to get Yoshida on the force at second base for the 3rd out as the Sox strand a pair and Herrin pitches a scoreless top of the 12th. Winckowski returned to the mound and Bo Naylor singled to LF leading off the bottom of the 12th as Florial would hold at third base putting runners at the corners with nobody out. Rocchio was up next and laid down a squeeze bunt that Valdez fielded and came home but Florial slid in safe with the winning run as the Guardians win a 3-2 thriller in 12 innings

GAME NOTES
* The Red Sox and Guardians were tied 1-1 after 9 innings and Cleveland would eventually win it on a walk off squeeze bunt by Brayan Rocchio to score the winning run in the bottom of the 12th giving the Guardians a 3-2 win and extending the Red Sox losing streak to 4 games

Re: TNK MLB 24 SLIDERS

TNK - BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE
Game #25 of Season

Boston Red Sox (14-10) @ Cleveland Guardians (12-12)
Pitching Matchup – Tanner Houck (1-2, 4.50 ERA) vs Ben Lively (0-1, 3.00 ERA)

**NOTE** - I asked CoPilot AI to "rewrite this baseball game recap" and this is what it produced....pretty awesome

In the third inning, the Red Sox took the lead with Wilyer Abreu’s RBI single, setting the score at 1-0. Despite Ben Lively giving up six hits over four innings, he managed to hold Boston to just one run. Tanner Houck, pitching for Boston, allowed four hits in the same span, keeping the Guardians at bay. The score remained 1-0 as the fifth inning began. Ceddanne Rafaela then hammered a full-count fastball from Lively for a solo home run, extending Boston’s lead to 2-0. Abreu nearly hit a home run himself but settled for a double, later scoring on Rafael Devers’ RBI double, bringing the score to 3-0. The Guardians responded in the sixth inning with Estevan Florial’s RBI line drive, but a relay throw cut down Will Brennan at the plate, ending the inning with the Red Sox leading 3-1.

Nick Sandlin pitched a clean seventh inning for Cleveland, but Boston’s Devers and Triston Casas added to the lead with a single and a two-run homer, respectively, making it 5-1. Houck continued his strong performance with a quick seventh inning, and the Red Sox entered the eighth inning with a four-run lead. Cade Smith gave up a leadoff double to Yoshida in the eighth, but it was Reese McGuire’s RBI single that extended Boston’s lead to 6-1. The Guardians managed to score once more in the bottom of the eighth, cutting the lead to 6-2, but Boston’s bullpen held strong, closing out the inning without further damage. In a quiet ninth inning for Boston, the Guardians faced a four-run deficit heading into their final at-bat. Brennan Bernardino and Greg Weissert combined to close out the game for the Red Sox, securing a 6-2 victory and snapping their four-game losing streak.

Re: TNK MLB 24 SLIDERS

TNK - BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE
Game #26 of Season

Boston Red Sox (15-10) @ Cleveland Guardians (12-13)
Pitching Matchup – Brayan Bello (1-1, 3.00 ERA) vs Tanner Bibee (1-1, 6.08 ERA)

The Red Sox jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the 1st on a solo HR to CF by Rafael Devers. The Guardians put two men on with nobody out in the bottom of the 1st but Brayan Bello got Jose Ramirez to ground into a 6-4-3 double play and struck out David Fry to end the threat as Boston had a 1-0 lead after the 1st inning. The Red Sox added to their lead with a RBI single from Ceddanne Rafaela in the top of the 2nd making it 2-0 and Jarren Duran would lead off the top of the 3rd with a double and come home on a RBI ground out by Tyler O'Neill to make it 3-0. Cleveland got on the board in the bottom of the 3rd when Estevan Florial launched a towering fly ball down the RF line for a solo HR to cut the deficit to 3-1. Tanner Bibee pitched his first scoreless frame in the top of the 4th and Cleveland threatened as they put two men on with two outs in the bottom of the 4th but Bello would get Gimenez to ground out to Valdez to end the threat and send the game to the 5th inning with Boston leading 3-1. Bibee retired the side in the top of the 5th while Bello recorded his 6th K in a 1-2-3 bottom of the 5th sending the game to the 6th inning with the Red Sox leading 3-1. Tim Herrin took over for Bibee and retired the Sox in order in the top of the 6th and Bello started the bottom half by fanning Will Brennan before Jose Ramirez grounded to Devers for what should have been out number two but he would reach base as Devers bounced the throw to Casas for a throwing error. David Fry followed with a single and suddenly the Guardians had runners at the corners with 1 out. The Red Sox bullpen was active as Winckowski and Rodriguez were hurrying to get loose as Bo Naylor stepped to the plate. Bello set Naylor up beautifully and struck him out on a filthy changeup away for his 8th K bringing up Brayan Rocchio with 2 outs. Rocchio would make the Sox pay for the Devers error as he swung at a sinker on the first pitch of the at bat and punched a ground ball past the dive of Devers down the third base line for a RBI single to make it a one run ball game and cut the Red Sox lead to 3-2. Bello would get Gimenez on a routine fly ball to Abreu in RF and we would move to the 7th inning with Boston now leading by just one run 3-2. Scott Barlow was on to pitch for Cleveland and worked around a two out single by Rafaela in a scoreless top of the 7th. Bello returned to the mound to begin the bottom of the 7th and he would record his 9th, 10th and 11th K of the game as he finished off his outing by striking Laureano, Florial and Kwan in order to send the game to the 8th inning with Boston leading 3-2. Sam Hentges made quick work of the Red Sox in the top half of the 8th and Cleveland would have Brennan, Ramirez and Fry due up in the bottom of the 8th. Alex Cora would play the matchup and go with Joely Rodriguez to begin the bottom of the 8th as he has been excellent so far this season with a 0.90 ERA in 10 innings of work and lefties have fared better against the trio due to hit for the Guardians. Rodriguez got Brennan to fly out to Duran in LF for the first out but Ramirez was looking for something to drive on the first pitch of his at bat and Rodriguez threw a sinker over the plate that Ramirez jumped on and drove deep to left-center just clearing the wall for a game tying HR and we were all even at 3-3. Rodriguez would settle down after the HR and retire Fry and Naylor to end the 8th inning and we would head to the 9th inning with the score all tied up at 3-3. Emmanuel Clase came on to pitch for Cleveland and he went to the slider with two strikes to Triston Casas leading off the top of the 9th but the pitch stayed up over the plate and Casas absolutely crushed it 441 feet to right-center for a solo HR putting Boston back on top 4-3. Clase would get through the inning with no further damage and we would go to the bottom of the 9th with the Guardians coming to bat trailing 4-3 with Rocchio, Gimenez and Laureano due up against Kenley Jansen who was coming on to try and close it out for Boston. Rocchio hit a ground ball up the middle for a lead off single and Josh Naylor would step out of the dugout to pinch-hit for Gimenez with a man on and nobody out. Jansen would freeze Naylor on a nasty back door slider for a huge K for the first out. Jansen had two strikes on Laureano but couldn't put him away as he grounded a ball up the middle for a single putting two men on with 1 out for Estevan Florial. Jansen would get Florial to hit a slow roller to Hamilton at SS who flipped to Valdez for the force at second base but Florial would beat out the double play to keep the game alive for Cleveland as they now had runners at the corners with two outs and the tying run 90 feet away at third base as Steven Kwan stepped to the plate with the Guardians down to their final out. Kwan and Jansen battled to a full count before Jansen got Kwan to hit a routine fly ball to LF where Duran would make the catch for the final out and the Red Sox hang on for the 4-3 victory and take two out of three from the Guardians in Cleveland

GAME NOTES
* The Red Sox get a go ahead HR in the top of the 9th from Triston Casas and Kenley Jansen records the save in a heart pounding bottom of the 9th as the Guardians strand the tying run at third base and the Red Sox hang on for a thrilling 4-3 win in the series finale as the Red Sox take 2 out of 3 from Cleveland

* The Red Sox improve to 16-10 while the Guardians fall to 12-14 on the season

* Triston Casas (8) and Rafael Devers (13) hit home runs for Boston. Devers is now hitting .310 with 13 HR & 24 RBI while Casas is hitting .266 with 8 HR & 15 RBI

* Jose Ramirez (3) and Esteven Florial (1) each homered for Cleveland

* Brayan Bello was excellent as he pitched 7 innings allowing 2 runs (1 earned) on 5 hits with 1 walk and 11 Ks in the no decision

* Tanner Bibee pitched 5 innings allowing 3 runs on 4 hits with 1 walk & 6 Ks in a no decision for Cleveland

* The Red Sox finish the road trip with a 2-4 record and will return to Boston where they will play their next 6 games at home as they begin a 3 game series tomorrow with the Chicago Cubs at Fenway Park. Kutter Crawford will be on the mound to open the series for Boston while Justin Steele makes the start for Chicago
