Re: TNK MLB 24 SLIDERS

TNK - BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE

Game #12 of Season

Baltimore Orioles (7-3) @ Boston Red Sox (7-4)
Pitching Matchup – Corbin Burnes vs Nick Pivetta

The Red Sox and Orioles are set to play the 2nd game of this 3 game series at Fenway Park. The Red Sox will send Nick Pivetta to the mound as Boston looks to get back on track while the Orioles will have Corbin Burnes on the mound

The Orioles opened the scoing in the top of the 2nd on a RBI double by Ryan O'Hearn and Corbin Burnes was off to a good start on the mound for Baltimore retiring the first 9 Red Sox batters of the game a we would move to the 3rd inning with the Orioles leading 1-0. Pivetta was not happy with the strike zone of the home plate umpire as he was repeatedly getting squeezed leading to Pivetta walking Henderson for the second time in two at bats leading off the bottom of the 4th. Ramon Urias knocked in Henderson with a RBI single to make it 2-0 and the Orioles were threatening to have a big inning with two men on and nobody out but Pivetta came back to strikeout O'Hearn and then got Mountcastle to ground into an inning ending 4-6-3 double play to limit the damage and keep it a 2-0 ball game. Burnes continued to mow the Red Sox down as he had retired the first 12 Red Sox hitters and we were headed to the 5th inning with Baltimore leading 2-0. Pivetta struck out the side in a strong top of the 5th and the Red Sox got their first base runner of the game when Triston Casas walked to begin the bottom of the 5th. Tyler O'Neill followed with an opposite field liner down the RF line that bounced into the crowd for a ground rule double putting runners on 2nd & 3rd with nobody out. Masataka Yoshida picked up a RBI on a sac fly to deep LF as Casas scores to cut the Orioles lead to 2-1. Ceddanne Rafaela was up next and he got a 94 mph cutter over the plate and lined a rocket into the triangle in CF for a RBI triple tying the game at 2-2. Enmanuel Valdez gave the Red Sox the lead as he knocked in Rafaela with a sac fly to deep LF and Boston now had a 3-2 lead. Pivetta made quick work of the Orioles with a 1-2-3 top of the 6th and Burnes would get Story to ground into a 3-6-3 inning ending double play in the bottom of the 6th to send the game to the 7th inning with Boston leading 3-2. Pivetta returned for the top of the 7th and had control issues as he hit Urias with a pitch and then issued a walk to O'Hearn putting two men on with nobody out. Ryan Mountcastle was up next and he lined a ball down the RF line for a RBI double tying the game at 3-3 and sending Pivetta to the showers as he exits and Greg Weissert comes in to a tough spot with runners on 2nd & 3rd and nobody out. Weissert got Mullins to ground out to Devers and the runners had to stay put bringing up Westburg with 1 out. Westburg bounced to Valdez at second base and that would bring home O'Hearn putting the Orioles up 4-3. Weissert did a great job out of the pen as he froze Rutschman on a back door slider to get out of the jam with minimal damage but the Orioles now had a 4-3 lead. Burnes returned to the mound to begin the bottom of the 7th and picked up his 6th & 7th Ks in a 1-2-3 frame sending the game to the 8th inning with Baltimore leading 4-3. Weissert struck out Hays looking to end a scoreless top of the 8th and Danny Coulombe came on to pitch for an retired the side in order to send the game to the 9th inning with Baltimore up 4-3. Justin Slaten pitched a scoreless top of the 9th for Boston and the Red Sox would come up to bat with the top of the order due up in the bottom of the 9th as Duran, Devers and Story were scheduled to hit against Orioles closer Craig Kimbrel who was coming on to try and close it out for Baltimore. Jarren Duran worked to a hitters count at 3 & 1 and would crush a ball deep down the RF line but it would hook just foul missing a game tying HR by a foot or two setting up a full count and Duran would ground out to Westburg for the out bringing up Rafael Devers with 1 out. Devers would rip a ball on the ground into CF for a single putting the tying run on base with 1 out. Trevor Story was up next and he would get jammed by Kimbrel and Story hit the ball on the ground to Westburg to start a game ending 4-6-3 double play and the Orioles hang on to win 4-3

GAME NOTES
* The Red Sox fall to the Orioles 4-3 and Baltimore has taken the first 2 games of this 3 game series at Fenway Park

* The Red Sox fall to 7-5 on the season while the Orioles improve to 8-3 on the season

* Trevor Story continues to struggle as he went 0 for 4 and hit into a pair of double plays including a 4-6-3 double play to end the game with the tying run on base for Boston. Story is now hitting just .109 on the season and is going to get the day off tomorrow to do some work in the cage as the Red Sox need him to get going offensively

* Ryan Mountcastle went 2 for 4 with a double & 1 RBI and Mountcastle is having a great start to his season as he is now hitting .409 on the season with 3 HR & 12 RBI

* Nick Pivetta pitched 6+ innings alloiwing 4 runs on 6 hits with 4 walks & 5 Ks as he takes the loss falling to 0-1 with a 4.76 ERA

* The Red Sox are sending 1B/3B Bobby Dalbec down to AAA Worcester and calling up SS David Hamilton. The plan is to give Hamilton the start tomorrow at SS and give Trevor Story who has been struggling a day off and then send Hamilton back down to Worcester and bring up utility man Romy Gonzalez to give them a right handed bat on the bench that can play all of the infield and outfield positions

* The Red Sox and Orioles will wrap up this 3 game series tomorrow with Kutter Crawford making the start for Boston with Grayson Rodriguez making the start for Baltimore in the series finale as the Red Sox try to avoid the 3 game sweep

Re: TNK MLB 24 SLIDERS

TNK - BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE

Game #13 of Season

Baltimore Orioles (8-3) @ Boston Red Sox (7-5)
Pitching Matchup – Grayson Rodriguez vs Kutter Crawford

The Red Sox and Orioles are set to play the 3rd and final game of this 3 game series at Fenway Park with the Orioles looking to complete the 3 game sweep of the Sox. The Red Sox will have Kutter Crawford on the mound for the series finale while the Orioles will send Grayson Rodriguez to the mound

The Red Sox jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead when Jarren Duran launched a solo HR to RF leading off the bottom of the 1st off Grayson Rodriguez. The Orioles answered with a 2-run HR by Cedric Mullins in the top of the 2nd and a solo HR from Anthony Santander in the top of the 3rd to take a 3-1 lead. Rodriguez settled in nicely after the HR by Duran to start the game and Baltimore had a 3-1 lead after 3 innings. Crawford struck out Jordan Westburg to end the top of the 4th and Gunnar Henderson to end the top of the 5th for Boston while Rodriguez continued to cruise on the mound and David Hamilton hit him hard with 2 outs in the bottom of the 5th but his line drive was hit right at Westburg who made the catch to end the 5th and send the game to the 6th inning with Baltimore leading 3-1. Crawford pitched another scoreless frame in the top of the 6th and the Red Sox would get to Rodriguez with 1 out in the bottom of the 6th as Tyler O'Neill doubled off the green monster in left-center and Rafael Devers followed by working to a full count before getting a 97 mph fastball up in the zone that he crushed 411 feet over the Orioles bullpen for a 2-run HR to tie the game 3-3. Joely Rodriguez recorded 2 Ks and retired the side in order in the top of the 7th while Dillon Tate pitched a 1-2-3 bottom of the 7th for Baltimore and we would head to the 8th inning with the score tied 3-3. Chris Martin replaced Rodriguez with 2 outs and a man on in the top of the 8th with Rutschman coming up. Jorge Mateo was on as a pinch runner and stole second base to move into scoring position and Rutschman would foul off some tough two strike pitches before eventually grounding out to Casas ending the threat as Martin escapes and the score remains 3-3. Keegan Akin came on and pitched a 1-2-3 bottom of the 8th sending the game to the 9th inning tied at 3-3. Martin returned to the mound for the top of the 9th and retired the side in order to give the Red Sox a chance to walk off with a victory in the bottom of the 9th with Devers, Casas and Yoshida due up. Akin remained in the game for Baltimore and retired Devers and Casas before Yoshida hit a soft liner into CF for a two out single. Ceddanne Rafaela followed with a line drive single to RF putting runners on 1st & 2nd base with 2 outs for Valdez who would fly out to Mullins in CF and we were headed to extra innings. The Orioles had runners on the corners with 2 outs against Martin in the top of the 10th and Urias hit the ball back at Martin and it would carom off his leg for an infield single as the Orioles take a 4-3 lead. Henderson followed with a bloop RBI double making it 5-3 and Rutschman got jammed by Josh Winckowski and hit a flare into LF for a two-run single as the Orioles blow it open to take a 7-3 lead. The Red Sox went down quietly against Akin in the bottom of the 10th as the Orioles win 7-3 and sweep the Red Sox

GAME NOTES
* The Red Sox and Orioles were tied 3-3 after 9 innings before the Orioles exploded for 4 runs all with 2 outs in the top of the 10th and the Sox would go down quietly in the bottom of the 10th as they lose 7-3 and get swept in their first series of the season at Fenway Park

* The Red Sox have lost 3 in a row and fall to 7-6 on the season while the Orioles extend their winning streak to 5 games and improve to 9-3 on the season

* Rafael Devers went 1 for 4 with a HR & 2 RBI and is now hitting .281 with 9 HR & 14 RBI as he has cooled off a little bit after his scorching start as 8 of his 9 HR came in the first 8 games of the season

* Cedric Mullins went 1 for 4 with a HR & 2 RBI and Anthony Santander hit his 2nd HR of the season to lead the way offensively for Baltimore

* Kutter Crawford pitched 6 innings allowing 3 runs on 3 hits with 1 walk & 6 Ks earning a no decision

* Grayson Rodriguez pitched 6 innings for Baltimore allowing 3 runs on 5 hits with 1 walk & 7 Ks earning a no decision

* The Red Sox will continue their 10 game home stand as they look to get back on track when they welcome the Los Angeles Angels to Fenway Park to begin a 3 game series. The Red Sox are 7-6 after getting swept by the Orioles but just took 2 out of 3 from the Angels in Los Angeles in the previous series and will send Garrett Whitlock to the mound in the opener against Reid Detmers for Los Angeles

TNK - BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE
Game #14 of Season

Los Angeles Angels (7-5) @ Boston Red Sox (7-6)
Pitching Matchup – Reid Detmers vs Garrett Whitlock

The Red Sox and Angels begin a 3 game series at Fenway Park with the Red Sox are 7-6 and looking to get back on track after being swept by the Orioles while the Angels are 7-5 and have won 3 of their last 4 games but dropped 2 of 3 to Boston less than a week ago. The Red Sox will send Garrett Whitlock to the mound to open the series while Los Angeles will have Reid Detmers making the start

Garrett Whitlock and Reid Detmers had a good pitchers duel going as Whitlock was through 5 innings for Boston and had allowed just 2 hits while Detmers had not allowed a hit until Romy Gonzalez led off the bottom of the 5th with a liner in the gap in right-center for a lead off double. The Red Sox would open the scoring a couple batters later on a Pablo Reyes RBI double. Boston would have runners at the corners with 2 outs but Detmers struck out Trevor Story to strand a pair and get out of the inning with no further damage as we would head to the 6th inning with Boston leading 1-0. Whitlock made it 6 shutout innings on the mound with a 1-2-3 top of the 6th for Boston and Jose Suarez would take over on the mound for LA to begin the bottom of the 6th and back to back singles by O'Neill and Yoshida put two on with 1 out for Romy Gonzalez who was making his Red Sox debut and doubled in his previous at bat. Suarez would hang a breaking ball and Gonzalez launched a rocket into the green monster seats for a big 3-run HR that pushed the Red Sox led to 4-0. Adam Cimber replaced Suarez on the mound and recorded the final two outs to send the game to the 7th inning with Boston leading 4-0. Mike Trout singled to lead off the top of the 7th for the Angels but Whitlock got Brandon Drury to ground into a 6-4-3 double play and then struck out Mickey Moniak to end the frame with the score still 4-0. Cimber pitched a scoreless bottom of the 7th sending the game to the 8th inning with the Red Sox leading 4-0. Whitlock was at 79 pitches as he returned for the top of the 8th and retired Ward and Rengifo on ground ball outs before Thaiss lined softly to Reyes at second base for the 3rd out and Whitlock was through 8 shutout innings on the mound for Boston. Robert Stephenson retired the Red Sox in order in the bottom of the 8th and we would head to the 9th inning with the Angels coming to bat trailing 4-0. Whitlock was at 87 pitches after 8 shutout innings and returned to the mound to begin the top of the 9th and struck out Adrianza looking for the 1st out before Nolan Schanuel grounded out to Story at SS and the Angels were down to their final out with Aaron Hicks coming up. Whitlock would finish off the complete game shutout as Hicks hit the ball on the ground to the left side but Story would make a nice play ranging to his right and fire a strong throw across the diamond for the final out as the Red Sox get a much needed 4-0 win

GAME NOTES
* The Red Sox get an outstanding pitching performance from Garrett Whitlock and newcomer Romy Gonzalez had a big night making his debut in a Red Sox uniform to lead Boston to a 4-0 win in the opener of this 3 game series

* The Red Sox snap their 3 game losing skid and improve to 8-6 on the season while the Angels fall to 7-6 on the season

* Romy Gonzalez was making his debut in a Red Sox uniform and got the start at DH after being called up to provide a right-handed bat off the bench with positional flexibility as he will provide depth at all of the infield and outfield positions. Gonzalez had a memorable debut as he went 2 for 3 with a double, HR & 3 RBI while delivering the big blow with a 3-run HR in the 6th inning

* Mike Trout went 1 for 3 and extended his hitting streak to 12 games with a 7th inning single for Los Angeles

* Garrett Whitlock continues his excellent start to the season as he threw a complete game shutout allowing just 3 hits in 9 innings while striking out 8 for Boston. Whitlock is now 3-0 after 3 starts with a 0.76 ERA

* Reid Detmers pitched 5 innings allowing 1 run on just 2 hits with 3 walks & 5 Ks and takes the loss to fall to 1-2 with a 1.59 ERA

* The Red Sox sent David Hamilton down to AAA Worcester to make room on the roster for Gonzalez prior to the game

Re: TNK MLB 24 SLIDERS

TNK - BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE
Game #15 of Season

Los Angeles Angels (7-6) @ Boston Red Sox (8-6)
Pitching Matchup – Chase Silseth vs Tanner Houck

The Red Sox beat the Angels 4-0 yesterday in the opener of this 3 game series at Fenway Park and Boston has now won 3 of 4 against Los Angeles this season as they prepare to play game #2 of the series. Boston will have Tanner Houck making the start on the mound while Chase Silseth makes the start for Los Angeles

Tanner Houck retired the side in the top of the 1st while Chase Silseth got Masataka Yoshida to hit a pop fly to Ward in shallow LF ending the bottom of the 1st and stranding a pair of runners on base to keep the game scoreless. The Angels took a 2-0 lead in the top of the 2nd when Tyler Ward drove in a pair with a RBI single to CF. Silseth was cruising on the mound for LA and Houck settled in nicely for Boston as the score remained 2-0 through 5 innings. The Angels would load the bases on 3 straight singles by Drury, Moniak and Ward with nobody out in the top of the 6th and that would be all for Houck as Justin Slaten came in from the Red Sox bullpen to take over in a tough spot with Logan O'Hoppe coming to the plate. O'Hoppe hit a bouncer to SS and beat out the double play to pick up the RBI as Drury scored on the fielders choice making it 3-0. Slaten struck out Rengifo for the 2nd out but Zack Neto hit a ground ball in the hole for a single to RF as Moniak scored to make it 4-0. Silseth retired the Sox in order in the bottom of the 6th and we would head to the 7th inning with Los Angeles leading 4-0. Jose Cisnero replaced Silseth after a 1 out double by Valdez and Jarren Duran flew out deep to left-center to end the bottom of the 7th with LA leading 4-0. The Angels added RBI singled by Neto and Schanuel in the top of the 8th to extend the lead to 6-0. The Red Sox got on the board in the bottom of the 8th when Trevor Story and Rafael Devers went back to back with a pair of solo HR to cut the deficit to 6-2. Luis Garcia replaced Cisnero on the mound and Boston put two men on with 2 outs for Valdez who drove a ball deep to left-center short hopping the wall for a two run RBI double as the Red Sox have cut the Angels lead to 6-4. Angels closer Carlos Estevez made his way in from the pen and Reese McGuire would line out to Schanuel to end the inning after the Red Sox plate 4 runs and we would head to the 9th with LA leading 6-4. Isaiah Campbell and Joely Rodriguez would combine to pitch a scoreless top of the 9th and the Red Sox would have the top of the order due up in the 9th trailing 6-4. Duran led off with a ground ball up the middle that Neto made a nice diving stop on but the speedy Duran would beat the throw putting the lead off man on base and the Sox would bring the tying run to the plate with nobody out. Story followed with a liner into left-center for a single and Boston had two men on with nobody out. Rafael Devers was up next and he ripped a line drive down the RF line for a double scoring Duran but Story would hold at third as there were no outs and the Red Sox now had the tying and go ahead runs in scoring position. Pablo Reyes came on to pinch run for Devers but it wouldn't matter as Tyler O'Neill got ahead in the count and Estevez left a changeup up and over the plate and O'Neill smoked a rocket to LF on a line that kept rising and cleared the green monster for a 3-run walk off HR to give the Red Sox a dramatic 8-6 come from behind win

GAME NOTES
* The Red Sox were trailing 6-0 entering the bottom of the 8th before they exploded for 4 runs cutting the deficit to 6-4. Angels closer Carlos Estevez failed to record an out in the bottom of the 9th as Duran and Story singled before a RBI double by Devers made it 6-5 and Tyler O'Neill would complete the come from behind win with a 3-run walk off HR to give the Red Sox a dramatic 8-6 victory

Re: TNK MLB 24 SLIDERS

Hey TNK....I know you are committed to your set up, BUT I'd encourage you to try something for a couple innings and see if you like it.

In play offense and in play defense cam......try the Retro view.

It's a nice alternative to broadcast or medium.
Just found it this year, and I like it.

Los Angeles Angels (7-7) @ Boston Red Sox (9-6)
Pitching Matchup – Tyler Anderson vs Brayan Bello

The Red Sox have taken the first two games of this series and look to complete the 3 game sweep of the Angels after a dramatic come from behind walk off HR by Tyler O'Neill gave the Red Sox the 8-6 victory in last nights ball game. Boston will have Brayan Bello on the mound while Tyler Anderson gets the start for Los Angeles

Brayan Bello and Tyler Anderson were both pitching well early and the game remained scoreless until the bottom of the 4th when Tyler O'Neill launched a solo HR to LF putting Boston up 1-0. The Red Sox added to the lead in the bottom of the 5th when Pablo Reyes hit a 2-run HR into the green monster seats making it 3-0. The Angels got on the board in the top of the 6th when Mike Trout doubled and came in to score on a RBI single by Taylor Ward cutting the Sox lead to 3-1. Bellow as over 100 pitches but would get out of the top of the 6th by retiring Rengifo on a fly out to Duran in LF stranding a pair and keeping the 3-1 lead for Boston. Trevor Story led off the bottom of the 6th with a rocket off the monster for a double and Jose Suarez would come on to replace Anderson on the mound for LA. Triston Casas lined a ball back up the middle for a RBI single as Story scored to push the lead to 4-1. Suarez escaped with no further damage and we would go to the 7th inning with Boston leading 4-1. Josh Winckowski pitched a 1-2-3 top of the 7th for Boston and Robert Stephenson retired the side in the bottom half sending us to the 8th with the Red Sox up 4-1. Winckowski returned to the mound and pitched another 1-2-3 frame in the top of the 8th for Boston. Stephenson pitched a scoreless bottom of the 8th for Los Angeles to send the game to the 9th inning with the Red Sox leading 4-1. Kenley Jansen made his way in to pitch the top of the 9th looking to close it out and record the save. Taylor Ward dropped a lead off single into CF for the Angels Logan O'Hoppe popped out to Reyes at second base for the 1st out and Jansen would get Luis Rengifo to bounce to Reyes to start a game ending 4-6-3 double play to end the game as the Red Sox win 4-1

TNK - BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE
Game #17 of Season

Cleveland Guardians (9-7) @ Boston Red Sox (10-6)
Pitching Matchup – Carlos Carrasco vs Nick Pivetta

The Red Sox and Cleveland Guardians are set to begin a 4 game series at Fenway Park on Marathon Monday in Boston. Boston will send Nick Pivetta to the mound while Carlos Carrasco gets the start for Cleveland

The Guardians manufactured a run against Nick Pivetta in the top of the 1st with Jose Ramirez picking up the RBI. The Red Sox got a solo HR from Triston Casas in the bottom of the 2nd to tie the game 1-1 before the bats came alive in the bottom of the 3rd against Carrasco when Rafael Devers and Casas each blasting two run home runs to open up a 5-1 lead. Pivetta was through the top of the 5th with the score still 5-1 and Devers would double to lead off the bottom of the 5th but appeared to suffer a minor injury to his foot while running and was forced to leave the game as Pablo Reyes came in to replace him. Sam Hentges replaced Carrasco and recorded 3 straight Ks to get out of the jam and strand runners at the corners sending the game to the 6th inning with Boston leading 5-1. Pivetta recorded two outs in the top of the 6th before running out of gas and Joely Rodriguez came on from the pen to face Will Brennan who dropped a blooper into left-center for a double putting runners on 2nd & 3rd for Ramon Laureano with 2 outs. Laureano would ground out to Story ending the frame and stranding two runs as Cleveland fails to score and the score remained 5-1. Hentges retired the side in order in the bottom of the 6th sending the game to the 7th inning with Boston up 5-1. Rodriguez recorded two quick outs in the top of the 7th before a walk to Steven Kwan and a single by Andres Gimenez put two men on for Cleveland with 2 outs and Jose Ramirez coming up. Rodriguez would come inside and hit Ramirez to load the bases for Josh Naylor. Alex Cora stuck with Rodriguez for the lefty matchup and Naylor would ground out to Valdez at second base to end the threat and strand the bases loaded. James Karinchak pitched a scoreless bottom of the 7th and we would head to the 8th inning with the Red Sox leading 5-1. Chris Martin pitched a 1-2-3 top of the 8th for Boston and Nick Sandlin retired the side in order for Cleveland in the bottom of the 8th to send the game to the 9th inning with the Red Sox leading 5-1. The Guardians came up to bat in the top of the 9th trailing 5-1 and Martin retired Bo Naylor on a ground ball out to begin the 9th. Greg Weissert replaced Martin on the mound and gave up back to back singles to Brayan Rocchio and Steven Kwan to put two men on for Cleveland and Kenley Jansen was rushing to get loose in the Boston pen. Weissert came back with a big K of Gimenez and the Guardians were down to their final out with Jose Ramirez coming up. Ramirez lined a ball up the middle for a RBI single as Rocchio scored to make it 5-2 and bring Josh Naylor to the plate representing the tying run. Jansen would come in from the pen looking to record the final out and he would need to throw just one pitch as he ran a cutter in to Naylor who popped up to Valdez at second base to end the game

GAME NOTES
* The Red Sox get a big day at the plate from Triston Casas and a strong start from Nick Pivetta on their way to a 5-2 victory

* The Red Sox improve to 11-6 on the season while the Guardians fall to 9-8 on the season

* Rafael Devers went 2 for 3 with a double, HR & 2 RBI and is now hitting .313 with 11 HR & 18 RBI on the season. Devers left the game after tweaking something in his foot but will not require a DL stint although he may need a day or two off

* Nick Pivetta pitched 5.2 innings allowing 1 run on 4 hits with 2 walks & 6 Ks as he earns the win to improve to 1-0 with a 3.97 ERA

* Carlos Carrasco pitched 4 innings allowing 5 runs on 6 hits with 2 walks and takes the loss for Cleveland falling to 1-1 with a 5.73 ERA

* The Red Sox called up 1B/3B Bobby Dalbec from AAA Worcester and sent INF/OF Romy Gonzalez down to Worcester to make room for Dalbec

* The Red Sox have called up RP Brennan Bernardino from AAA Worcester to give them a second lefty option in the bullpen and sent down RP Isaiah Campbell who has struggled with a 14.73 ERA in 4 appearances out of the pen

TNK - BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE
Game #18 of Season

Cleveland Guardians (9-8) @ Boston Red Sox (11-6)
Pitching Matchup – Triston McKenzie vs Kutter Crawford

The Red Sox and Cleveland Guardians will play the 2nd game of this 4 game series at Fenway Park and Boston will Kutter Crawford on the mound while Triston McKenzie gets the start for Cleveland

The game was scoreless after 4 innings as Kutter Crawford and Triston McKenzie were locked in a pitchers duel early on as Crawford had not allowed a base runner through his first 4 innings and McKenzie had allowed 3 hits and we would head to the 5th inning tied 0-0. Crawford retired the first two batters of the top of the 5th before Will Brennan dropped a blooper in along the LF line for a double on the first hit of the ball game for Cleveland after Crawford retired 14 straight to begin the game. Crawford came right back to freeze Laureano with a curveball to end the frame. McKenzie pitched a scoreless bottom of the 5th sending the game to the 6th inning with the score 0-0. Gabriel Arias drew a 1 out walk in the top of the 6th but Crawford would get Kwan to ground into a 5-4-3 double play to end the frame and the score remained 0-0. McKenzie struck out both O'Neill and Casas looking to end the bottom of the 6th sending the game to the 7th inning tied 0-0. Crawford struck out the side in the top of the 7th as Gimenez, Ramirez and Naylor all went down on strikes. McKenzie dodged a bullet in the bottom of the 7th when Wilyer Abreu crushed a ball deep down the RF line that just hooked foul and McKenzie would go on to retire the side in order sending the game to the 8th inning locked in a scoreless tie 0-0. Tyler Freeman singled to LF to lead off the top of the 8th on just the 2nd hit of the night for Cleveland but he would be thrown out trying to steal second base on a strong throw by Reese McGuire. Crawford got Brennan to ground out for the 2nd out and Brayan Rocchio would come on to pinch hit for Laureano. Rocchio ripped a liner up the middle for a single and that would be all for Crawford who was tiring as Brennan Bernardino came in from the Red Sox pen to make his first appearance of the season for Boston. Bo Naylor would bounce back to Bernardino who made the play to end the frame and we would head to the bottom of the 8th with the score remaining 0-0. Estevan Florial took over in RF for Cleveland after Rocchio hit for Laureano and McKenzie returned to the mound to begin the bottom of the 8th despite being over 90 pitches in the ball game. Pablo Reyes dropped a single into LF with 1 out for Boston and McKenzie would exit the game as Tim Herrin came in from the pen to take over on the mound for the Guardians with 1 out and the top of the order coming up for Boston. Herrin struck out Jarren Duran before Rafael Devers dropped a single into RF setting up a huge at bat as the Red Sox had runners at the corners for Tyler O'Neill with 2 outs. Herrin would get two strikes on O'Neill and tried to put him away with a 98 mph fastball low and in but O'Neill was able to punch it up the middle for a RBI single to score the games first run giving the Red Sox a 1-0 lead. Herrin came back with a big strikeout of Triston Casas to end the 8th inning and send the game to the 9th with Boston now leading 1-0 and Cleveland would have Arias, Kwan and Gimenez due up in the top of the 9th. Kenley Jansen came on to pitch for Boston looking to close it out and record the save and would retire Gabriel Arias on a ground out to Valdez for the 1st out. Steven Kwan was up next and he would go down looking as Jansen froze him with a nasty back door cutter and the Guardians were down to their final out with Andres Gimenez coming up and Jose Ramirez lurking in the on deck circle. Gimenez fouled off a couple tough pitches with two strikes before Jansen got him swinging at a cutter down and in for the K to end the game and finish off a 1-0 Red Sox victory

GAME NOTES
* The game was tied 0-0 with 2 outs in the bottom of the 8th when Tyler O'Neill delivered a RBI single to CF giving the Red Sox a 1-0 lead and Kenley Jansen would retire the Guardians in order in the 9th to record his 6th save as the Red Sox win 1-0

* The Red Sox extend the winning streak to 5 games and improve to 12-6 on the season while the Guardians fall to 9-9 on the season

* Tyler O'Neill knocked in the only run of the ball game with a RBI single with 2 outs in the bottom of the 8th for his 12th RBI of the season

* Kutter Crawford was excellent for Boston as he pitched 7.2 shutout innings scattering just 3 hits with 1 walk & 7 Ks but did not factor in the decision. Crawford lowered his ERA to 3.20 on the season

* Triston McKenzie pitched 7.1 innings allowing 1 run on 4 hits with 1 walk & 6 Ks and took the tough luck loss as he falls to 1-3 with a 2.70 ER on the season

* Kenley Jansen pitched a 1-2-3 9th inning to record the save. Jansen now has 6 saves and a 2.45 ERA on the season

* The Red Sox and Guardians will play the 3rd game of this 4 game series tomorrow with Garrett Whitlock scheduled to pitch for Boston while Logan Allen makes the start for Cleveland
