KINGS beat SHARKS 3-1 to add another Chapter in the Rivalry...

RECAP 12/7/19

San Jose, CA- It was another chapter written in the Los Angeles-San Jose Division Rivalry tonight when the LA Kings(17-12-3) met their hated rivals the San Jose Sharks(18-7-5) inside the SAP Center.

This was the first time this Season the hated rivals met.

"We know the history between us. We flat out don't like them. " Kings DefenseMan and Alternate Captain Drew Doughty stated.

It's no secret the amount of animosity between the Two Pacific Division Rivals have lasted for almost a decade with the Two meeting for the first time in the Stanley Cup Playoffs in 2010-2011.

San Jose won in Six Games.

But then Los Angeles won in 2013 and became the 4th Team in NHL History to come back from a 3-0 deficit to win Game 7 in 2014.

San Jose got some payback in 2016 beating the Kings in Five Games on their way to their first ever Stanley Cup Finals.

A loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

"Anytime we face the Kings you know it's going to be a battle. They got the best of us tonight but they have been playing great Hockey this year." Sharks Head Coach Peter DeBoer stated.

Last year Los Angeles(17-12-3) missed out on the Playoffs and General Manager Rob Blake went to work. Signing Xavier Ouellet to help boost the Kings.

"He's a great Player for our Team. We're playing well on the ice and are trying to get back to the Stanley Cup." Kings Head Coach John Stevens stated.

Tonight inside the SAP Center the score was 0-0 in the First Period as the Two Rivals played another game of Chess.

Los Angeles(17-12-3) got on the board midway through the Second Period when Ilya Kovalchuk(15) scored after Captain Anze Kopitar found him behind Sharks Goaltender Joey Backstrom.

L.A wouldn't stop there howeveras Nikita Scherbak's 10th Goal of the year put the Kings ahead 2-0 over the defending Champions.

"They're a really good Hockey Team. They won the Cup last year and are one of the best in the League. We may see them down the road if we meet in the Playoffs." Stevens added.

San Jose(18-7-5) will meet Los Angeles quite a bit in December. @LA on December 22. VS LA on December 28.

Then again on New Years Eve inside the Staples Center.

Kovalchuk's 2nd Goal of the night put the Kings up 3-0 in the Third Period until Sharks Captain Joe Pavelski's 15th Goal got the Fins on the board.

Kings Goalie Jonathan Quick had 34 Saves as Sharks Netminder Joey Backstrom had 30 saves.

San Jose(18-7-5) will now begin a 4 Game Road Trip against Eastern Conference Teams.

On Monday Night the Sharks will meet the Florida Panthers(17-10-3) who sit in First Place in the Atlantic Division with Coach Q behind the bench and won 3 in a row.

San Jose beat Florida 5-0 on October 6 in San Jose.

PANTHERS hold off SHARKS 4-3 for 4th Win in a Row in South Beach...

RECAP 12/9/2019

Sunrise, FL- The Florida Panthers(18-10-3) have won 4 in a row with their 4-3 victory over the Stanley Cup Champions the San Jose Sharks(18-8-5) on Monday Night.

"We're playing our best Hockey since I've been here I think. This Franchise has been in a rut and the way this Team is playing right now is something to be proud of. We still have a long way to go this Season so there's lot of work to do to be where we want to be. A victory over San Jose is something to be proud of since they're the Champions." Panthers Head Coach Joel Quenneville stated.

"Coach Q" has his Panthers in First Place in the Atlantic Division as we enter mid December soon.

Florida(18-10-3) got on the board when Mike Hoffman(14) scored to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead.

Moments later, the Captain Aleksander Barkov(16) scored for a 2-0 lead over the Champions.

In the Second Period, San Jose(18-8-5) got on the board when Logan Couture(12) scored to cut the Panthers lead 2-1.

"We got on the board there in the Second Period but we kind of fell off tonight. Too many missed chances." Sharks Head Coach Peter DeBoer stated.

San Jose had missed chances when two goals were taken off the board. One bounced off the bar and the other was called off when Erik Karlsson was called for Goaltending Interference.

The Panthers(18-10-3) ran away in the Third Period when Vincent Trocheck(6) and Ryan Dzingel(13) scored on the 5 on 3 Power Play to give Florida a 4-1 lead.

"That 5 on 3 killed us. We need to shut those down." DeBoer added.

But San Jose(18-8-5) wouldn't go away quietly when Brendan Dillion(3) and Captain Joe Pavelski(16) scored.

Martin Jones had 20 saves as Roberto Luongo had 30 saves to seal the Panthers 4th straight win.

San Jose(18-8-5) will meet the Detroit Red Wings(9-20-1) tomorrow night.

SHARKS bounce back with 7-4 victory over struggling RED WINGS..

RECAP 12/10/19

Detroit, MI- Logan Couture, Brent Burns, and both Evander Kane and William Karlsson scored twice as the San Jose Sharks(19-8-5) rebounded from back to back losses with a 7-4 victory over the Detroit Red Wings(9-21-1) on Tuesday Night.

"This was a good win for us for us to get some momentum. We've been in a tiny little slump so to get back in the Win collumn is huge for us." Sharks Head Coach Peter DeBoer stated.

Sharks Alternate Captain Logan Couture(13) got San Jose on the board early.

"Scored easily there but then we kind of took our foot off the gas for a bit." DeBoer added.

Detroit(9-21-1) then came storming back when Tyler Bertuzzi(4), Michael Rasmussen(4), and Andreas Athanasiou scored to give the Wings a 3-1 lead over the Stanley Cup Champions inside Little Caesars Arena.

"Just wasn't our night. We scored a few goals and just couldn't finish." Red Wings Head Coach Jeff Blashill stated.

DEVILS upset SHARKS 4-2..

RECAP 12/12/19

Newark, NJ- After a 7-4 victory over the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday Night, the San Jose Sharks(19-9-5) continued their Road Trip with a stop in Newark, New Jersey to meet Sharks Head Coach former Team, the New Jersey Devils(12-17-2).

And it was a disaster.

"Very bad game for us tonight. We kept shooting the puck but Rittich was just a brick wall for Jersey. Very frustrating loss for us tonight." Sharks Head Coach Peter DeBoer stated.

DeBoer spent a few years behind the Devils Bench where he led them to the Stanley Cup Finals in 2012 losing to the Los Angeles Kings in 5 Games.

In the First Period San Jose(19-9-5) got on the board when Evander Kane's 19th Goal of the year put the Fins up 1-0.

But then after that it was all Jersey.

Sharks Goalie Martin Jones continues to struggle allowing 4 Goals by Will Butcher(2), Connor Carrick(1), Nico Hischier(8), and Travis Zajac(4).

New Jersey(12-17-2) had a 4-1 lead late in the Third Period despite Jones having 26 saves.

Sharks Alternate Captain Logan Couture(14) cut the lead to two but the hole was to big for San Jose(19-9-5) to climb out of.

Devils Goalie David Rittich was a brick wall for Jersey racking up 38 saves as the Sharks failed to score on him.

"A complete masterful performance by David. He was just unbelievable for us." Devils Head Coach John Hynes stated.

San Jose(19-9-5) wraps up their Road Trip on Saturday Night in our Nations Capital when they meet the Washington Capitals(15-14-2).
