SHARKS snap losing Streak with 3-2 Victory over MAPLE LEAFS in Stanley Cup Rematch..





RECAP 1/2/20







San Jose, CA- Martin Jones stopped 34 of 36 shots as the San Jose Sharks(24-11-7) have snapped their 4 Game slide heading into 2020.

"Felt good to kind of get that Monkey off our back sort to speak." Sharks Head Coach Peter DeBoer stated. "Feels great to get a Win after the kind of funk we've been in."

The Stanley Cup Champions beat the Toronto Maple Leafs(20-17-4) in a National Televised Stanley Cup Rematch.

The Sharks beat the Maple Leafs in Five Games to win the Stanley Cup back in May.

Frederik Andersen had 21 saves for Toronto.

"Tough loss for us tonight but San Jose showed they're still the Team to beat in the NHL." Maple Leafs Head Coach Mike Babcock stated.

Sharks Forward Tomas Hertl got the Fins on the board with a Power Play Goal in the First Period for a 1-0 lead.

"We showed we the better Team than them tonight and got us our first win in a little while." Hertl stated. He also had an Assist.

Toronto's Captain Patrick Marleau scored on the Power Play to tie the Game up at 1-1 in the Second Period. His 6th of the year.

"We got that Goal we needed to tie, just couldn't hold it." Marleau stated.

In the Third Period, San Jose took a 2-1 lead when Marc Edouard Vlasic scored his 2nd Goal of the year.

But the Maple Leafs(20-17-4) tied it up again when Trevor Lewis scored. His 4th of the year.

With 1:43 left, Sharks Alternate Captain Logan Couture scored for the 3-2 Victory to hand his Club their first win since December 26th.

San Jose(24-11-7) will host the Vegas Golden Knights(18-16-6) on Saturday Night...

SHARKS blank GOLDEN KNIGHTS 5-1...







RECAP 1/4/20








San Jose, CA- The San Jose Sharks(25-11-7) got another victory over their hated rival, the Vegas Golden Knights(18-17-6) who continue to struggle with Head Coach Gerard Gallant behind the bench.

"We lost tonight. What else do you want me to say? San Jose beat us." Vegas Head Coach Gallant stated.

Sharks DefenseMan Brent Burns rocket got the Champions on the board early in the First Period for a 1-0 lead.

It was Burns 7th Goal of the year and it was a Milestone. His 200th Career Goal.

"It was special to get it here in front of our great fans." Burns stated.

San Jose(25-11-7) kept it going when Forward Tomas Hertl(11) scored to make it 2-0 in favor of San Jose.

"I believe we the better Team than them." Hertl stated.

"Played a great Game tonight inside our Building. Vegas is still a good Hockey Team." Sharks Head Coach Peter DeBoer said.

San Jose Alternate Captain Logan Couture(20) put the Champions up 3-0 to kick off the Second Period with a Power Play Goal as the Sharks continued to give Golden Knights Goalie Marc-Andre Fleury fits.

The Score would be 3-0 for the whole 2nd Period as Fleury began to find his rhythm.

Former Vegas Golden Knight William Karlson(23) put the Sharks up 4-0 as he added a shot of his own against his former Club.

Then Evander Kane(21) scored to give San Jose a 5-0 lead over Vegas(18-17-6).

The Golden Knights finally got on the board in the final 17 seconds when Reilly Smith scored on the breakaway to rob Martin Jones of a shut out 5-1.

"He's a good Player and for him to get past me on the breakaway there doesn't surprise me. Great player." Jones added with a smile.

Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 19 of 24 shots allowing all 5 San Jose Goals as the Golden Knights struggles continues.

Martin Jones had 32 saves as Kevin LaBanc had 2 Assists. On Monday Night the San Jose Sharks(25-11-7) will head to Canada to face the struggling Vancouver Canucks(11-29-2).

The Canucks are 1-8-1 in their last 10 Games.

CAPITALS shut out Champion SHARKS 5-0...





RECAP 1/11/20







San Jose, CA- Backup Goalie Greg Zucker stopped 19 shots as the Washington Capitals(22-21-2) shut out the Stanley Cup Champions, San Jose Sharks(26-13-7) on Saturday Night inside the SAP Center.

"Terrible performance by us. All 4 Lines just bad tonight. Give Washington credit." Sharks Head Coach Peter DeBoer stated.

The Caps were all over the Champions from the opening Puck Drop. Washington took a 2-0 lead in just the First Period when T.J Oshie(5) and Andre Burakovsky(10) scored.

With the victory over San Jose(26-13-7), the Capitals(22-21-2) sit in 5th Place in the Metropolitan Division.

"Great win for us tonight over the Champions. The effort was top notch I thought." Capitals Head Coach Todd Reirden stated.

San Jose stopped the bleeding a tiny bit holding Washington off the Board in the Second Period as Sharks Goaltender Martin Jones was under seiged.

Jones allowed all 5 Goals but stopped 38 shots as Washington fired at will.

"It's unacceptable for us to allow that many shots. Bad Defense on our part." DeBoer added.

In the Third Period, Washington added 3 more Goals when Chandler Stephenson(5), Nicklas Backstrom(4), and Evgeny Kuznetsov(10) all scored to give Washington a 5-0 victory.

San Jose(26-13-7) is still leading the Pacific Division with a 3 Point Cushion over the Anaheim Ducks.

However the Sharks next 3 Games will all be on the road against the Top 3 Teams in the Central Division.

San Jose will be in the Music City Tuesday Night to play the Nashville Predators(24-14-6). Then on Thursday Night the Sharks will face the Central Division leading Minnesota Wild(32-13-1) in St. Paul. On Saturday Night next Week San Jose is in Dallas to face the Stars(25-16-4).

SHARKS rebound with 4-2 Victory over PREDATORS..



RECAP 1/14/20



Nashville, TN- After back to back losses to Tampa Bay and Washington, the San Jose Sharks(27-13-7) rebounded on Tuesday Night with a 4-2 victory over the Nashville Predators(24-16-6) inside the Bridgestone Arena.

"Great to rebound with a Win and against a good Team like Nashville. We can move on to Minnesota with some confidence." Sharks Head Coach Peter DeBoer stated.

Craig Smith(10) got Nashville on the Board in the First Period for a 1-0 Predators lead. But then San Jose responded with a Joe Pavelski(22) Slapshot that tied the Game.

Sharks Goalie Martin Jones rebounded from allowing 5 Goals to the Washington Capitals by allowing just 2 tonight to Nashville.

In the Third Period, Nashville(24-16-6) took the lead with a Filip Forsberg(22) Goal 2-1 in favor of the Preds.

"We took the lead then just kind of took our foot off the gas. That's on us." Predators Head Coach Peter Laviolette stated.

In the Third Period the Sharks roared back with Goals by Marc-Edouard Vlasic(3), Brent Seabrook(3), and Jay Beagle(8). Erik Karlsson had 1 Assist.

Martin Jones had 21 Saves while Juuse Suros had 20 for Nashville.

San Jose(27-13-7) will meet the Minnesota Wild(32-14-1) on Thursday Night

SHARKS top WILD 4-2!






RECAP 1/16/20






St. Paul, MN- Backup Goalie Joey Backstrom had 27 saves as the San Jose Sharks(28-13-7) topped the Central Division leading Minnesota Wild(32-15-1) on Thursday Night inside the Xcel Energy Arena in St. Paul.

The defending Stanley Cup Champion Sharks got on the board first when Justin Callahan scored his 13th Goal of the year.

Minnesota would quickly tie it when Joel Erikkson EK scored. His 8th of the year.

"It was like a game of Chess there for awhile especially being down in the Second Period." Sharks Head Coach Peter DeBoer stated.

Wild's Eric Staal(16) gave Minnesota a 2-1 lead in the Second Period.

"Tough game against a great Team like San Jose. We held a solid lead but couldn't put it away. I'm sure we'll be seeing these guys this Spring again." Wild Head Coach Bruce Boudreau stated.

In the Third Period it was all San Jose. Curtis Sawyer tied the Game up at 2. His 16th Goal of the Season. Justin Callahan's 2nd Goal of the Night gave San Jose the lead for good.

Evander Kane's Empty Netter sealed the Game 4-2 for the Champions.

Wild Goalie Devan Dubnyk had 27 saves.

San Jose(28-13-7) will meet the Dallas Stars(26-17-4) on Saturday Night.
