STARS come from behind 2-0 to beat SHARKS 4-3...

RECAP 1/18/20

Dallas, TX- Backup Goalie Anton Khudobin stopped 24 of 27 shots and the Dallas Stars(27-17-4) came from behind 2-0 to knock off the Stanley Cup Champion, San Jose Sharks(28-14-7) on Saturday Night.

Khudobin is filling in for Stars Goalie Ben Bishop who is out with a Herniated Disc and is due back February 16.

"Big win for us tonight and for us to come from behind like that really shows the fight we have. Great Team Win tonight." Stars Head Coach Jim Montgomery stated.

San Jose(28-14-7) got on the board early in the First Period when Defensemen Erik Karlsson's rocket gave the Fins a 1-0 lead. His 6th of the year.

The Champions wouldn't stop there as just 17 seconds into the Power Play, Justin Callahan's 17th Goal of the year gave the Fins a 2-0 lead off Ryan Carpenter's Assist.

But then Dallas(27-17-4) roared back when Valeri Nischukin's 5th Goal of the year got the Stars on the board 2-1.

In the Third Period San Jose went up 3-1 when Ryan Carpenter scored.

"We were up 3-1 in the Third Period and too many mistakes and giving up to many penalties cost us. You make mistakes like that and you'll lose games." Sharks Head Coach Peter DeBoer stated.

Up 3-1 in the 3rd, Dallas tied it off Goals by Alexander Radulov(9) and Jason Dickinson(9)

Dickinson's tying Goal came off the Stars 3rd Powerplay of the game where Dallas was 0-2 on the man advantage.

"Third time was the charm." Dickinson stated.

San Jose was 1-1 on the Power Play where they continue to be the #1 Team on the Man advantage at 56%.

With 43 seconds left in the game Dallas pulled away for good as Esa Lindell(3) beat Martin Jones.

Martin Jones had 44 saves as he allowed 4 Goals. With the loss tonight, the Sharks have now fell from first place as the Anaheim Ducks now take over with a 1 point lead for the Pacific Division.

San Jose(28-14-7) will host the Winnipeg Jets(28-17-2) on Monday Night to wrap up January before the break.

RECAP 1/20/20

SAN JOSE- Connor Hellebuyck stopped 21 of 23 shots as the Winnipeg Jets(29-17-2) beat the San Jose Sharks(28-15-7) 3-2 on Monday Night to win their 4th straight and keep pace with Central Division leading Minnesota Wild.

SAN JOSE SHARKS: Defenseman Marc-Edouard Vlasic injures Arm in Jets loss. Will miss rest of Year.

1/21/20

Kevin Kurz

Last night after the San Jose Sharks lost to the Winnipeg Jets 3-2 inside the SAP Center, the Fins have announced that Defenseman Marc Vlasic injured his arm.

Today the Stanley Cup Champions have announced that Vlasic has broken his arm and will miss the rest of the Season.

"He suffered a bad broken arm. A laceration came up in the X-ray. He's gonna miss time. We all feel for him and he should be back for the Playoffs." Sharks Head Coach Peter DeBoer stated.

Vlasic is set to return April 19 with the NHL in the Playoffs. San Jose is well on their way to clinching another Post-Season Birth with February approaching.

"Sucks I'm out." Vlasic stated. "But I have all the hope in the world that we'll be in the Playoffs again defending our Championship. I'll be back April 19 with us in the Playoffs."

Vlasic has 3 Goals, 12 Assists in 32 Games this Season.

With Vlasic out, San Jose still has Brent Burns, Erik Karlsson, Tim Heed, Dennis Seidenberg, Brendan Dillon, Joakim Ryan, and Brent Seabrook on the Blue Line.

Re: ~~Blood in the Water (Reboot)~~ The Story of the San Jose Sharks...

January TOP 10

1. Pittsburgh Penguins(40-8-3)

Last Month: 1.

There is no HOTTER Team in the NHL this year than the Penguins. Captain Sidney Crosby is really putting the League on notice since missing the Playoffs last year with his Concussion. Crosby leads the NHL in Goals, Assists, and Points as Goalie Matt Murray is really being an anchor between the pipes winning 33 Games. The Pens are on an absolute tear this year and have redemption on their mind as they look to rebound from an early Playoff exit loss to the Rangers last Spring. Coach Sullivan is the favorite for Coach of the Year. With a 23 point cushion over second place Carolina, the Stanley Cup Playoffs should go through the Steel City in the Eastern Conference.

2. Minnesota Wild(34-16-1)

Last Month: 2.

Minnesota stays at #2 as they are still possibly the best Team in the Western Conference. The Wild lead the Central Division with a 7 point cushion over St. Louis as Bruce Boudreau has his Club on a redemption path of their own looking to rebound from a First Round sweep to San Jose. Minnesota have been leading the Central Division all Season long and February looks to be no different. The Wild look to be winning their first Division Title since 2007-08 Season. Minnesota should also wrap up Home Ice Advantage if they continue to win.

3. Boston Bruins(32-14-3)

Last Month: 3.

If there was a Team in the Eastern Conference who looks to be just as good as the Penguins it's Boston. The Bruins are in firm control of the Atlantic Division with Toronto 4 points out. The B's are looking to rebound themselves after being swept in the Second Round of the Playoffs last Spring by the Maple Leafs. However the Bruins are looking to be a much better focused Team on the ice with Bruce Cassidy really making a case for himself to be in the "Jack Adams Award" Discussion. Entering February Boston looks to close in on another chance at Lord Stanley.

4. Anaheim Ducks(31-17-2)

Last Month: 5.

Anaheim wrapped up January by regaining the Pacific lead by 1 point over San Jose. The Ducks have been under the radar but tore through January chasing the Sharks for the lead in the Pacific. The Ducks are looking to rebound from their Round 2 loss to the Sharks and make another run for Lord Stanley. With February arriving Anaheim will try to hold the Division lead with the Champions hot on their tail.

5. San Jose Sharks(28-15-7)

Last Month: 4.

The defending Champions drop to #5 as January was rough for the Sharks. Losing Veteran Marc-Edouard Vlasic is putting an even bigger target on their backs. Martin Jones has had some struggles allowing even more Goals in losses as it looks like San Jose is on a bit of a Championship Hangover. Entering February San Jose is 1 point behind Anaheim for the Division lead.

6. Los Angeles Kings(28-19-6)

Last Month: 8

Los Angeles makes a huge jump after going 5-3-2 in the short Month of January and sits in 3rd Place in the Pacific. The Kings have really rebounded this year after missing the Playoffs last Spring. The Kings continue their push to rebound and punch their ticket to Lord Stanley. Keep your eyes on the Kings this Month.

7. Dallas Stars(28-18-4)

Last Month: 7.

Dallas stays at #7 on our list as they continue to prove doubters wrong after missing the Playoffs for the 3rd year in a row last Spring. The Stars have also rebounded from allowing 11 goals to the Sharks earlier this year. Jim Montgomery has Big D making noise entering February. Dallas sits in the Wildcard spot and 5th in the Central Division.

8. Florida Panthers(26-20-6)

Last Month: 6

Florida drops to the 8th spot this Month after really cooling off in January. The Panthers dropped from 2nd in the Atlantic to 5th place entering February. But the good news is that Florida is still in control of a Wildcard Spot as Coach Q has really made an impact in South Beach. The Panthers will need to keep making noise in February to keep possession of the Wildcard.

9. Carolina Hurricanes(27-17-6)

Last Month: 10

Carolina climbs up a spot as they have really proven doubters wrong this year. The Hurricanes have taken a massive step this year after missing out on the Playoffs last year for the 10th year in a row. Rod Brind-Amour has really made an impact this Season for Carolina. The Canes currently sit in 2nd Place in the Metropolitan Division behind the red hot Penguins. Keep your eyes on Carolina this Spring.

10. Winnipeg Jets(29-18-2)

Last Month: N/A

Cracking the Top 10 for this first time this Season are the red hot Winnipeg Jets. The Jets had an early exit last Spring where they fell behind to the Nashville Predators 3-1 before coming back and forcing a Game 7 which the Jets lost. This year Head Coach Paul Maurice has Winnipeg looking to rebound as entering February the Jets sit in a Wildcard spot and 4th in the Central Division. To close out January the Jets went 4-1 winning 4 straight and had a victory over the Stanley Cup Champion Sharks. The Jets appear to be for real but time will tell.

Tempers flare as ISLANDERS crush SHARKS 6-2...

RECAP 2/4/20

Brooklyn, NY- Barry Trotz stood at the podium smiling from ear to ear.

"Huge win for us. A statement like that against the Champions, that's momentum for us." Islanders Head Coach Barry Trotz stated.

A year in New York where the Isles in Trotz first year last Season the Islanders finished with a 34-45-3 Record near the bottom of the Metropolitan Division.

However this Season the Islanders(25-18-9) are really coming together in the Barry Trotz ERA in Brooklyn.

New York currently sits in 3rd Place in the Metropolitan Division behind Carolina and Division leading Pittsburgh.

The defending Champions San Jose Sharks(30-16-7) still trail Anaheim for the Pacific Division lead.

Tonight inside the Barclays Center, The Islanders crushed the Sharks in which San Jose gave up 6 Power Plays where the Isles converted on half of them.
Martin Jones 47 saves kept the Sharks in it but failed as he was under sieged constantly throughout the night.

"Too many penalties. Too many mistakes. Just bad Hockey." Sharks Head Coach Peter DeBoer stated.

Thomas Greiss had 26 saves to help knock off the Sharks.

San Jose(30-16-7) took a 2-0 lead in the First Period when Captain Joe Pavelski(25) and Curtis Sawyer(18th on the Power Play) got the Fins on the board.

Islanders Matt Barzal's Tripping penalty made it 4 on 4 and Curtis Sawyer scored.

After the Sharks took a 2-0 lead, New York rallied back. Nick Leddy's 4th Goal of the year got the Isles on the board. Brock Nelson's Power play Goal tied it up at 2. His 8th of the year.

It was 2-2 heading into the Second Period.

In the Second Period, New York(25-18-9) pulled away for good. Anders Lee scored his 10th of the year. A Brent Burns Tripping penalty gave the Islanders another Power Play Goal when Josh Bailey scored his 8th Goal of the Season for a 4-2 Islanders lead.

"We were down 2 Goals just like that. We can only blame ourselves. We made many mistakes and New York capitalized. Give them credit." Sharks Head Coach Peter DeBoer added.

Things only got worse for the Sharks in the Third Period when the Islanders had a 5 on 3 Man Advantage thanks to Penalties by Brent Burns(Tripping), Kevin LaBanc(Fighting), and Brendan Dillon(Interference) allowed New York to capitalize with Goals by Jordan Eberle(21) and Anthony Beauvillier(9) for a 6-2 lead.

"Tough loss for us. We have to shake this off and move on to the next one. Pittsburgh." Sharks Captain Joe Pavelski stated.

The Islanders victory came at a cost however as Brandon Pirri will miss a good 10 days nursing a Sore Foot.

The long Road Trip continues for the San Jose Sharks(30-16-7) as they now head to Pittsburgh to meet the RED HOT Penguins(40-9-4) who will be without Zach Aston Reese who has a herniated Disc.

The Penguins led by Sidney Crosby are the Hottest Team in the NHL.
