PREDATORS blank SHARKS with 5-0 shut out..

RECAP 11/7/19

San Jose, CA- The Nashville Predators(8-5-2) got some revenge on the defending Champion San Jose Sharks(10-3-2) with a 5-0 shutout victory inside the SAP Center on Thursday Night.

San Jose beat Nashville 3-2 in Overtime in Nashville on October 24.

"It was our turn to return the favor you could say, but you can't take San Jose lightly either. They can make you pay for every mistake if you don't stick to your game plan." Predators Head Coach Peter Laviolette stated.

Nashville(8-5-2) got on the board early when Filip Forsberg 10th Goal of the year got past Joey Backstrom for a 1-0 lead in the First Period.

The Preds wouldn't stop there as they unleashed a relentless attack on the Stanley Cup Champions.

Viktor Arvidsson and Craig Smith scored in the Second Period to give the Predators a nice 3-0 cushion as the Sharks struggled.

Backup Goaltender Joey Backstrom continued to try and keep the Fins in the game as the Sharks Offense stalled.

"We can't blame Joey at all for this loss. We left him out to dry and that's on us. We didn't score any goals and in this league you don't win games unless you score goals." Sharks Head Coach Peter DeBoer stated.

Nashville(8-5-2) went on the Power Play where Wayne Simmonds scored a PP Goal that gave the Preds a 4-0 lead before Yannick Webber scored on the Empty netter. Nashville Goaltender Pekka Rinne had 20 Saves in the shutout.

San Jose(10-3-2) will host the Edmonton Oilers(6-8-1) on Saturday Night..

~~NHL TOP HEADLINES~~

November 8, 2019

MINNESOTA WILD'S HOT START...

Despite the San Jose Sharks being defending Stanley Cup Champions, there is no hotter Team in the NHL than the Minnesota Wild. Bruce Boudreau has his Club on a redemption path after being swept out of the Playoffs last year. The Wild rock the best record in the NHL with a 15-1 record and are 8-0 at home inside the Xcel Energy Center. What gives the Wild even more confidence is that they already have beaten the Sharks this Season. All eyes will be on Minnesota as the year goes on. Can anyone slow down Minnesota?

ANAHEIM DUCKS HOT START...

The Ducks are on a hot start of their own after jumping out to a 12-4 Record including a nice 8 Game Winning streak. Anaheim sits in First Place in the Pacific Division with a 2 point cushion over San Jose. The Ducks look to keep pressure on the rest of the Division as the year goes on. Anaheim lost to San Jose in the Semi Finals last year and will look for redemption when they play the Sharks for the first time this year on November 23 in San Jose.

Coach Q has the FLORIDA PANTHERS in First Place..

When you have the best Coach in the NHL you win Hockey Games. It's simple math. That's the case for the Florida Panthers right now who sit in First Place in the Atlantic Division with a 9-5-1 record. Florida is on the uprise with Coach Q behind the bench and look to make the Playoffs for the first time since 2015-2016.

Crosby's return has PITTSBURGH PENGUINS on a redemption year...

Last February Pens Captain Sidney Crosby suffered a Season ending Concussion and missed the remainder of the season. He was due back in late April for the Penguins Playoff run. The Pens clinched the Playoffs thanks to the depth of Malkin, Letang, Kessel, etc. In the First Round however the Penguins lost to the New York Rangers in 5 Games in which Crosby never suited up. Now with Crosby's return the Penguins are on a redemption path with a First Place spot in the Metropolitan Division with a 11-4-1 record.

SHARKS bounce back with 6-1 win over OILERS...

RECAP 11/9/19

San Jose, CA- On Thursday Night the San Jose Sharks(11-3-2) were shut out by the Nashville Predators.

Tonight San Jose bounced back with a crushing 6-1 victory over the Edmonton Oilers(6-9-1).

"We needed to bounce back and give our group some confidence. Tonight we played possibly one of our best Hockey games this season." Sharks Head Coach Peter DeBoer stated.

San Jose(11-3-2) welcomed back once again former Bench Boss Todd McLellan who was greeted by the Sharks faithful with boos when Edmonton took the ice inside the SAP Center.

"They spoke their minds. I'm absolutely okay with it. I wasn't really expecting a warm welcome either given our history." Oilers Head Coach McLellan stated.

McLellan was behind the bench for San Jose until after the 2014-15 Season ended and the Sharks missed the Playoffs ending his time in Northern California.

Peter DeBoer soon took over for the Fins.

The First Period was tied 0-0 as both Teams played chess testing the waters. That soon changed when Tomas Hertl's 2nd Goal of the year broke the tie and got the Champions on the board. 1-0.

This was Hertl's 100th Career Goal.

"Huge accomplishment for me. I couldn't imagine playing anywhere else than San Jose. This is just one more to add for me." Hertl stated.

But the Sharks 1-0 lead wouldn't last long as Edmonton(6-9-1) was given a 5 on 3 Power Play when Marc Eduard Vlasic, Dennis Seidenberg, and Curtis Sawyer was in the box for penalties.

This opened the door for Oilers Captain Connor McDavid to notch his 8th Goal of the year to tie the game up at one a piece.

"That was huge for us to get back in the game. Unfortunately we didn't do much after that." McDavid stated.

In the Third Period the Sharks(11-3-2) kicked the door wide open and never looked back.

Evander Kane(10), Joe Pavelski(8), Curtis Sawyer(7) Logan Couture(5), and Tim Heed(2) all scored for the Fins.

Oilers Goaltender Mikko Koskinen had 18 saves and allowed 5 Goals before being pulled at the end of the game.

Sharks Goalie Martin Jones had 34 saves. Kevin LaBanc led with 2 Assists as Curtis Sawyer, Evander Kane, and Tomas Hertl followed with one a piece.

The Oilers were 1/3 on the Power Play as San Jose shut Edmonton down.

"Those wasted chances doomed us. Against San Jose you have to capitalize on your chances. We didn't." Oilers Head Coach Todd McLellan stated.

"Killing those Power Plays and scoring those 5 Goals in the final period was what we needed to win. Great effort and proud of these guys for digging deep." DeBoer added.

San Jose(11-3-2) will meet Boston in a few days.

SHARKS wrap up long homestand with 6-1 crushing over BRUINS...

RECAP 11/12/19

San Jose, CA- The San Jose Sharks(12-3-2) long homestand has come to an end with a crushing 6-1 victory over the Boston Bruins(9-7-2) on Tuesday Night.

San Jose went 5-2 inside the SAP Center capping off their long stay inside the Shark Tank with a 2 game Winning Streak.

On Friday Night the defending Champions will begin a 3 Game Road Trip where they will head to Denver, St. Louis, and Winnipeg.

The Sharks(12-3-2) will return to the SAP Center on November 20 to host the Dallas Stars.

"We enjoyed our Home Stand but now we have to prepare for the road." Sharks Captain Joe Pavelski said..

The Boston Bruins(9-7-2) struggled bad tonight against the Sharks as their lone Goal was from Brad Marchand. His 9th of the season.

"Our only goal. Wasn't enough tonight." Marchand stated.

Boston found out quickly how good the Champions are when just 43 seconds into the game, Joe Pavelski found Justin Callahan for his 8th goal of the season that gave San Jose a 1-0 lead.

Marchand tied it soon after.

"They really can get up on you. That first goal caught our attention." Bruins Head Coach Bruce Cassidy stated.

Sharks Captain Joe Pavelski scored his 9th goal of the season that gave San Jose a 2-1 lead and the Fins never looked back.

Tomas Hertl, Logan Couture, Evander Kane, and Justin Callahan again all followed that gave the Sharks the 6-1 victory.

Netminder Martin Jones made 30 saves for the Sharks. Bruins Goalie Tukka Rask had just 11 saves while allowing 5 Goals.

Backup Jaroslav came in to start the Third Period and had 10 Saves.

Goodrow scores Game Winner as SHARKS win 3rd straight with 3-2 victory over AVALANCHE.. Colorado loses 5th straight...

RECAP 11/15/19

Denver, CO- The San Jose Sharks(13-3-2) kicked off their 3 Game Road Trip in Denver tonight when they handed the Colorado Avalanche(9-10-1) their 5th straight loss.

With the win inside the Pepsi Center, San Jose has won 3 straight.

"It's always nice to get on a streak at any point during the Season. Getting that rhythm helps a lot in the long run throughout the year." Sharks Head Coach Peter DeBoer stated.

However with yet another loss, the Avalanche lost their 5th straight.

"It's tough being in a funk like this. Still got plenty of Hockey left but we need to get out of our slump." Avalanche Head Coach Jared Bednar stated.

It was a Chess match tonight until 11 minutes into the Second Period where Sharks Forward James Carr notched his 4th Goal of the year gave San Jose a 1-0 lead.

The lead would last into the Third when Avalanche Alternate Captain Nathan Mackinnon scored his 8th, and Alexander Kerfoot picked up his 7th goals of the year to give Colorado(9-10-1) a 2-1 lead.

But the Sharks(13-3-2) wouldn't go quietly as Kevin LaBanc's 3rd Goal of the year tied the game with 2:17 left in the game.

But the defending Champions wouldn't stop there as Barclay Goodrow scored the winner with 1.1 seconds on the clock to hand San Jose their 3rd straight win.

The Sharks then swamped Goodrow at the Colorado Net.

"That was a special moment for me. To have the guys mob me like that is special." Goodrow said.

Goodrow spent last year in AHL San Jose while the Sharks won their first ever Stanley Cup.

Martin Jones had 25 saves while new Goaltender Jimmy Howard had 22 saves. Howard was with the Detroit Red Wings last year before signing with Colorado in the Off-Season.

The Sharks(13-3-2) will meet the St. Louis Blues(9-8-2) tomorrow night in St. Louis.

Robby Fabbri scores twice as BLUES knock off SHARKS 4-3...

RECAP 11/16/19

St. Louis, MO- The St. Louis Blues(10-8-2) got a little payback over the Team that eliminated them in the Western Conference Finals last May, the San Jose Sharks(13-4-2).

Robby Fabbri scored twice to give the Blues a 4-3 victory over the defending Champions on Saturday Night inside the Enterprise Center.

"Great to pick up this win for us." Blues Head Coach Mike Yeo stated. "They ended our Season last year in the Western Conference Finals so it was nice to get a little redemption. They're a great Team and will go far again this year."

San Jose(13-4-2) took a 2-1 lead in the First Period when Justin Callahan and Logan Couture scored. Patrick Maroon got the Notes on the board.

But St. Louis(10-8-2) roared back in the 2nd Period when Robby Fabbri and Klim Kostin scored to give the Blues a 3-2 lead.

Sharks Forward Kevin LaBanc tied the game up at 3 a piece to give San Jose a chance.

"Tied the Game up at 3 there in the Third Period but you have to give the Blues credit. They didn't quit." Sharks Head Coach Peter DeBoer stated.

On a breakaway late in the 3rd however, Robby Fabbri scored again to give the Blues the lead sending the Enterprise Center into a frenzy.

"Felt good to get that Goal and help us win. San Jose ended our Season last year so it was nice for a little payback." Fabbri stated.

Blues Goalie Robin Lehner had 30 saves to help St. Louis stay in the very early Playoff chase in the Central Division.

Sharks Goalie Martin Jones had 24 saves but allowed 4 Goals as the Sharks(13-4-2) wrap up their 3 Game Road Trip on Monday Night in Winnipeg to face the Jets(9-9).
