Re: WWE Off-Topic

Random fact: John Cena has won in the main event of three straight Extreme Rules PPVs (2010 - def. Batista, 2011 - def. Morrison and Miz, 2012 - def. Brock Lesnar).

Re: WWE Off-Topic

WM 29 Cena heel turn ideas:

Quote:
Note before reading - Yes I know they're hundreds of threads similar to this one and people in the IWC have been calling for a Cena heel turn for years. I also know that business wise, turning Cena heel is not a good idea at the moment but I am writing this more as a way to put people in the moment of Cena's heel turn. I'm not focusing on the aftermath of the turn or any implications that may occur because of it. In fact you guys can take this and turn it into anything you want. So with that said, lets get started.

Background
The stage is WrestleMania 29 at Metlife Stadium. The match is WWE Champion The Rock defending against both CM Punk and John Cena in a Triple Threat Match. (I do realize triple threat matches have been done to death this year but hey what harm will one more do) Anyway, the set up of this match is pretty simple. Rock beats Punk for the title at the Rumble. Later that night Punk enters the rumble and we get a classic "Both men's feet touched at the same time" finish with Cena and Punk. It looks like the refs are going to restart the match like with Batista/Cena but Punk just attacks Cena with a chair from behind and leaves, as he feels that he already won the rumble. They try to settle this with a match that is meant to be their final one on one encounter at Elimination Chamber. Match ends in some sort of draw finish like a double count out. (Smackdown Chamber can go on last just so the PPV doesn't end with a BS finish and yes I know it looks like Vince Russo is booking these matches so far) Ok, so Vince pretty much just says screw it and makes the Triple Threat Match. The match is the main event of course with Brock vs Taker being semi-main in this fantasy world of mine.

The Match
The story of this match is typical for a two face/one heel triple threat. Where the heel lets the faces go at it while he plans his next move. Therefore a lot of the early portion of the match is Punk out of the way while Rock and Cena go at it. So we get Rock/Cena 2 without actually getting it. Punk gets more and more involved as the match goes on and takes control as Rock and Cena wear each other down. Each guy gets their offense in as the match continues but the huge spot that really puts the match into high gear is when rock goes the year 2000 on us and puts Punk and Cena threw the announce table with a double rock bottom. Afterwards we get our false finishes with Punk kicking out of an AA, Punk breaking up an STF on Rock, and Cena kicking out of the GTS. Finish starts with Cena hitting an AA on Rock. Before he can make the cover however, Punk comes in an tries to throw Cena out of the ring like he did at Summerslam. This time Cena turns it around and throws Punk to the floor. Then as Cena turns around to attempt the pin he gets a whole helping of deja vu from last year as Rock kips up and hits the Rock Bottom for the three count.

The Turn
So, The Rock retains the WWE Title in the main event of WrestleMania 29. We get a close up of Cena similar to the year prior. You can see the disappointment in his face as The Rock is once again the better man. Cena rolls out of the ring toward the now destroyed announce table and sits in one of the ringside chairs and that's the last we see of him for the next few mintues. Meanwhile, Rock celebrates with the title belt and does his standard pose on each turnbuckle. When he goes to the last turnbuckle (top right for those who care) Punk re-enters the ring. The jealous former champion stalks The Rock and plans to attack him when he comes down. So were thinking "Rock counters GTS, hits Punk with a People's Elbow" sends the fans home happier than they already were. Or "Cena comes in and stops Punk, stare down with Rock to end the show" But here's what we actually get. The Rock gets down off the turnbuckle, turns around, and gets his head just about taken off by a clothsline from everyone's number one good guy John Cena who had just hopped onto the apron as rock hopped off the turnbuckle. At this point, everyone watching at home, in the arena, and even Punk himself has their jaw dropped to the floor. Michael Cole says something to the effect of "Oh my god, what the hell was that?" even though he knows what he saw. In all this commotion, Cena just stares down at Rock in disgust. He then gets down off the apron a grabs the chair he was sitting on. He gets back in the ring and goes Stone Cold on The Rock with the chair. Just beating the crap outta him as Punk stands in the corner still in shock from what he's seeing. Finally, Cena stops, throws the chair down, and just walks out. No posing, no power trip remake with Punk (at least not yet). He just walks out. And that's how Mania ends and heel Cena begins.

I hate to make Cena Heel Turn Thread #3848576, but I think it's somewhat probable to suggest that Cena can go heel on the Rock at WM29. Here's my idea on how it could happen:

There is justification for his heel turn - he said his match with Rock last year was the biggest match of his career and said that his career meant nothing if he lost. And lose is what he did, in front of the Rock's home crowd. He then went on to have the worst year of his career, and he could blame this on losing the match against The Rock, because that's where the low point began. He then said on the first Raw of 2013 that he intends for this year to be the complete opposite of 2012 and if he were to win the Rumble, he could have similarities to Austin's heel turn at WM17 (which was also ironically with Rock as well) in the sense that he will do anything to capture the title and hold on to it and remain the top guy. He could say that he wasn't about to lose to the Rock AGAIN, because losing the first time was the lowest point of his (main event) career. Plus, with it being in New York, which I think is supposed to be a smark heavy city that will boo Cena mercilessly already, it's perfect, even more so than Miami (or at least equally so.)

How he would specifically go about it is another story. Probably a similar beat down to WM17, minus the Vince interference. I picture the ref going down and then when Rock is down but not out (completely), Cena goes outside and picks up a steel chair (slowly as to build tension and make the fans speculate as to if he's really about to use a chair to win the match) and then he gets in the ring. After staring at the chair for a while with a distant stare look in his face (because he's contemplating one of the most important decisions of his career, knowing he'd be betraying his fans who look up to him if he does this), he whacks Rock with it and continues to whack him over and over again while he's down (and he whacks him on all different part of his body - legs, knees, back, chest, etc. - so as to make sure Rock stays down.) After maybe hitting one of his finishing moves on Rock as well - and maybe even a Rock Bottom to add insult to injury - he pins the Rock and becomes WWE Champion.

The image that Wrestlemania 29 ends on is Cena standing over a battered and beaten Rock, who may even sell a blade job to put the whole thing over as much as possible. Imagine Cena wiping Rock's blood on the WWE Title that is now his. The next night, he could say that that's the last image you'll ever have of the Rock in the WWE and that from now on, anytime you see Rock in movies or think of the Rock, that's the image you'll remember and then you'll think of John Cena instead. He could then give some speech about how he busted his *** to perform and put on the best match possible every night only for people to boo him and how he was tired of pondering to children and being asked (by Vince) to be the friendly face of the company. This could even lead to Vince coming out and telling Cena how horrible it was for betraying his fans. Cena could then expose Vince as a hypocrite by bringing up all the bad **** Vince has done in the past (I'm skeptical of this, as I'm afraid it might get Cena some cheers.) Blah blah blah, etc. I don't want to specifically explain every little detail, but rather give just a basic outline of how it could go down. It's late and I'm tired of typing.

Last but not least, the main argument against Cena going heel, which is that he may not have enough strong baby faces to counter his heel turn. But I think there's enough. The Miz is a horrible face but he could improve and even though I think he sucks regardless, he is an option. Del Rio just turned face and he won't be WHC forever (I myself have even warmed up to him a bit since his face turn.) There's rumors of Ziggler going face. Big Show could turn eventually and have a month or two to feud with Cena. Punk could go back face eventually. Sheamus and Orton are good choices, even though one is rumored to go heel and the other is better of as a heel as well. Ryback is being built as their new top star, so he could be built up as the big hero who eventually dethrones Cena. They could capitalize on Daniel Bryan's popularity by building him as the big underdog who might take down Cena. One of the members of the Shield could become a breakout star as a baby face (likely Rollins, Ambrose and Reigns strike me as heels, but you never know.) Triple H could always do a one-time thing (non-title match) with Cena. There's a money match with Undertaker at Wrestlemania 30, with part of the build obviously being that Cena claims he made history by leaving Rock laying the year before and will do the same with Undertaker. Then there's always mid-carders being built as new main eventers who could feud Cena and also brand new faces in the WWE who could be a great counterpart to Cena's heel character. And I'm saying all these people could feud with Cena over the next 2-3 years or more, not just all in 2013, obviously.

Point is, they have more than enough. And WM29 is a good chance to finally pull the trigger on it.
I especially agree with the bold.

Cena needs something new and a heel turn would be fresh as he could not only go back to possibly rapping on his opponents but there would be a good amount of feuds that would open up with Cena going heel that time around. That or they could simply make him more serious, I think that's what most fans wish for right? Same with most faces - tell a story of the face overcoming the dastardly heel and make it his mission to take him down or win the title or whatever, no need for jokes and that bull****. This is from a fan of his that grew up with him in 2005 (I've only recently became a "smark" this year and I've come to realize that I don't like him as much now) - I liked him a lot more back then and Edge spearing him twice while he was bloodied at NYR 2006 is a good example of him putting over a new star in what made for a pretty great story and solid matches.

He's certainly capable of being what he was before, heel or face - just not cheesy. imo Vince doesn't feel threatened to change anything to please a half-portion of the audience because he's making plenty of money with Cena right now while he's pleasing the other half. Until the WWE is challenged by somebody like TNA or ROH, there'll be no reason to take a risk and change his character when they're doing fine right now - which is why we might not see a Cena heel turn again.
