Re: NHL Off-Topic thread

I'm so ready for the season to start. It's so weird to not have it on. What a weird end to the year. I never want to go through this bs again lol

So glad they decided not to screw over the Wild with all those 9 PM local starts. Have fun with that Blues!

Even with the playoffs, it doesn't feel like we've really had hockey in 9 months (will be 10 by time January happens).

Haven't watched a Saturday night Leafs game since February!

Re: NHL Off-Topic thread

Obviously the NHL is looking at new ways to bring in revenue. One of them is ads on helmets. I know people are against more ads, but I'd be fine with a helmet ad. They're not exactly visible anyways. Even jersey ads, I'd be ok with adding one if the ad itself is on the back, next to the adidas logo, above the name bar.

They should tarp off the 100 level seats and just sell ad space on that too. The most I'd be fine with adding ads on the ice would be in the goalie trapezoid.

Seems as though some teams are against the realignment for this season. Besides the Blues, I wonder who else would be. Clearly it won't be anyone from the Canadian division (unless they're seriously stupid to be complaining about that at a time like this). Who else could it be? Rest of pacific division should be fine with that division given the proximity of those other cities. So I'd guess it's someone in the central division probably against it?

I'm against the Central Division because it's God-awful.

Re: NHL Off-Topic thread

No news today, so I'm guessing January 18th becomes the next possible date for games if an announcement comes by next week?

Another idea which sounds worse is the Blues AND Wild in Pacific, and Stars to central. Last I checked, isn't Minnesota closer to Chicago,Detroit,Columbus and places like that than Dallas? And Dallas closer to California than Minnesota?

Re: NHL Off-Topic thread

This wasn't the hockey news I was expecting to be trending today.

With the news of Cleveland changing their name in MLB, is Chicago next to have a change? Not the name itself, but perhaps just the logo? The black Hawk logo would be a nice change if one is needed.

This would be interesting. Fox and NBC splits NHL coverage which would be nice for sure, but too bad ESPN isn't part of this. ESPN doesn't care one bit about hockey, and sadly that influences viewers to not care either. If they covered hockey, maybe more would care.

But a split deal is great for NHL regardless. NHL on FOX would be a nice thing to have. The more money NHL gets from their new TV deal the better.

NFL has the best TV deal imo. You have games on all networks. It's about time NHL gets to branch out to multiple major US networks again. More coverage the better.
