I don't think there'll be much of a bidding war for the rights to XFL games.

If they had teams in other countries, you could gain lots of extra attention that way. Who knows, those international teams could even be the leaders behind your attendance.

Do you know how expensive it would be to fly an entire football team, players and ataff, from London to North America 4 times in a couple months?

re: XFL Discussion

If the attendance is higher in another country, then that could offset the traveling costs.

England might be a longer shot, but at very least Canada/Mexico each getting one wouldn't be so bad. Get extra attention on the league from other countries.

How could attendance being higher in one location offset the cost for a team traveling there that doesn't get any of that revenue?

A team in Canada and Mexico wouldn't be a bad idea but going overseas is a non-starter. I'm going to drop some knowledge on you. The WLAF was started in 1991 as a 10 team league with 3 European squads. The costs were prohibitive and while the first year saw some okayish numbers in North America it was the 3 Euro teams that had some great attendance. The 2nd year saw the North American attendance fall off a cliff while the 3 Euro teams continued to be strong.

I feel like the same thing would happen with the XFL which will need time to grow the brand in the US so while yes, the Euro attendance may offset some costs it's not going to work when you're trying to concentrate on things at home. It's what the NFL realized when they brought the league back in '95 after a two year hiatus and made it a 6 team Euro League which did some pretty good business for most of its life.

Why do you guys keep saying this?

How does good attendance/revenue for any home team offset the travel cost for any away team traveling there that gets none of that generated revenue?

Guys, this is ECO 101.
