It's looking more and more like this could be true and Freeman is just an entitled POS playing the victim card.

I don't think Freeman is playing the victim card necessarily...just that he thought there'd be more back/forth when Chipper warned him not to play that game.

Meanwhile, Gottlieb continues to ruin his reputation.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

I don't think Freeman is a pos. Gottlieb is a certified pos though.

Re: MLB Off-Topic

6 years, $162mil = $27mil/per
5 years, $135mil = $27mil/per

One of the few times you can assign a dollar amount to happiness and peace of mind.

Freeman sold out for $27,000,000.

And I'm not going to feel sorry for him anymore.

.. but I do wish he was unhappy and clubbing the baseball in Seattle rather than LA.

Re: MLB Off-Topic

This should go over well with a portion of hardcore fans

Rules being voted on and expected to pass tomorrow

Quote:
A 15-second pitch clock with the bases empty and a 20-second clock with runners on

Two disengagements from the rubber -- including pickoff attempts -- per plate appearance

A requirement by hitters to be in the batter's box and "alert" with eight seconds to go on the clock. Hitters are allowed one timeout per plate appearance

Only two infielders will be allowed on each side of second base, with all four required to be on the dirt (or inner grass)

Infielders cannot position themselves on the outfield grass before the pitch is thrown

Bases will increase in size from 15 inches squared to 18
Not sure I understand significance of base sizes increasing, or stopping infielders from being in the OF (eliminating the shift is another thing).

But I'm glad to see the batters box rule here, hopefully actually implemented, and only one time the entire AB to call time.

Pitchers only allowed to step off/pick off twice during a PA. That feels like it'll be a controversial one. How far can a runner get from the base after that 2nd attempt before the pitcher is legally allowed to actually throw back over? Or could you just walk halfway to 2B without the pitcher able to do anything?

And I know the pitch clock is unpopular, but I can't wait to have it. Guys waste way too much time. We still get 9 inning, 27 out, 3 strikes, 4 ball, baseball.

Re: MLB Off-Topic

I loathe the pickoff rule. Pickoffs have never been a problem. It is the cat-and-mouse game between pitcher and baserunner. Stop ****ing with things because Tik Tok prevents people from having their attention held for a few ****ing hours.

I always thought the pitch clock was a thing, not displayed in the stadium but just the idea of it (like a pitcher couldn't refuse to pitch for a minute without the umpire saying "Okay I'mma give the batter a ball now"). Honestly what I think they should do is keep the actual pitch clock in the minor leagues, then when they come up to the major leagues you have players who are conditioned to pitching at a faster pace. It slowly becomes something over time, not just overnight.

I have a shift compromise rule that doesn't restrict infielders the way they're doing it, and I don't know if I'll end up being a fan of this either. Either way you'll still see a shortstop or second baseman up the middle. It's not like tendencies won't still be favored.

Re: MLB Off-Topic

There definitely has to be an asterisk of some sort to the "step off" rule. There's no way you can just say after stepping off twice you can't do it again. The runner could just stroll to second after the second one every time lol.

I'm done complaining or worrying about the other rules at this point. It is what it is and I've already been turned off for awhile.

I'm with Maj though on the bases, really don't see the point behind it at all.

I assumed the idea was "If he picked off and you were stealing on it, all is fair game." That still doesn't work. Majingir said it perfectly: where is the line between attempting to steal and not, and how far off can you go in that regard?

I guess if you do pick off and you're wrong, then it's a balk or whatever. It's just stupid.
