Lol good question. I've never even heard of Wynegar. However I do believe when it's said and done Posada earns his trip to the Hall. Good catcher all around, great hitting catcher, more rings then a jewelry store. Of course it will take a few more good years, But eventually he will get in. Make room for Hip Hip Jorge behind the other greats: Dickey, Berra, Munson, Howard, and now Posada. notice: no mention of Wynegar.

I wouldn't worry about it if it was discussed. Two years of play can make a difference for many players.

I figured you were joking with Butch Wynegar ....I was just messing around, too.

Re: Hall Of Fame: Yes Or No?

Ted Williams. Babe Ruth. Stan Musial. Rogers Hornsby. Lou Gehrig.

Arguably the five greatest baseball players of all-time. What is the one stat they all have in common?

.300/.400/.500, 2,000 hits, 300 home runs, 500 doubles, 1,000 walks.

You know who else holds those same numbers?

Nearly every retired player with a .300/.400/.500 line is in the Hall Of Fame. The only two not in are Shoeless Joe Jackson and Edgar Martinez. Joe is not in for obvious reasons and Edgar is just about to enter his first year of eligibility.

If Edgar doesn't make the Hall, it'll be the biggest screw-up in BBWAA history and that's saying something.

To the previous poster in regards to Barry Bonds.
No

As far as Edgar Martinez. He quietly marched through his career putting up non stop solid numbers.

Killed the Yanks.

He's in.

Being an M's fan there haven't been many glory years, but I will never forget Edgar in the 1995 ALDS against the Yanks. He absolutely killed them that series and specifically in game 4 when he knocked in 7 runs (including the Slam off Wetteland in the 8th to bust the game open).

I can't imagine what Edgar's numbers would have been if the M's wouldn't have let him rot in AAA for years while they kept strolling Jim Presley out to third.
