Maybe the NFLPA License became separate because they wanted other football games and after the split here comes 2k coincidence ?

And the 2nd paragraph of this article is very informative about the exclusive NFL Simulation License

This should tell you the conclusion of the whats sim/Arcade

NFL Sim= simulating the NFL using jersey,logos,ect..

Arcade= not using the NFL brand and Sim gameplay

Remember 2k said using the NFLPA License each game will have different themes to them

IIRC the NFLPA didn’t like the original exclusive deal. Theirs wasn’t exclusive at first so they didn’t get the payday the NFL did and with no way to have the shield in any other games they were sort of forced to settle with what EA offered too. Once they got their own exclusive with EA they changed their attitude, at least publicly.

This is the most disappointing part of that article but let's keep in mind it's from 2020 so you never know what could have changed:

Quote:
The exclusivity in EA’s agreements applies only to simulation titles; the contract language says that “arcade-style games, youth games, and casual/mobile games” are open to anyone. Football fans frustrated with EA’s artificial stranglehold on the market might’ve thought they glimpsed a light at the end of the tunnel earlier this year, when 2K and parent company Take-Two announced the formation of their own deal with the NFL (for non-simulation titles). Alas, nobody will get a shot at making a Madden competitor anytime soon.

The NFL doesn't want change and stuck in their ways
Now you say don't fix whats not broken model$$$
Yea sure if its stuff like Nike,Little Caesars, beer🍺

But it doesn't make sense in the cable&video game world
That make the fans suffer by having only one choice

Streaming has took over not everyone has Direct TV but according to this article NFL are not with the times
The answer is right in front of them and they still wanna flirt with Direct tv
The NFL died when Roger Goodell became Commissioner 🤦

Interesting take from Eric Rayweather here

https://youtu.be/NvfCPat3GFk

He suggests the NFL is concerned that their fan base is aging ala the MLB and that this 2k game is simply a way to get younger/casual fans into football where Madden hasn’t reached them.

Probably spot on, and goes against the idea that this game is going to be bringing about an end to the exclusive any time

With them broadcasting games on Nickelodeon, they're definitely trying to reach a younger demographic. Definitely with the Lego game. That'll likely be at least 2 years or so out.

It can be arcade and still be fun. If they approach it like Super Mega Baseball, that would be a good football alternative. Where it's "arcade", but still enough sim elements to not turn away serious gamers. Off topic, but, I hope EA keeps a hands off approach with Super Mega Baseball. It is slated to come out next year. I would prefer EA provides the resources they need to reach their vision without taking their creative freedom.

So give me a Super Mega Football-esque game and I'll be happy. Where it has an "arcade" Aesthetics and gameplay, but the gameplay and career mode having enough sim elements to make it still feel like football

Re: This video proves the NFL Licenses exclusive never ending with EA!!!

I've been playing Football Simulator the past week, and while their physics model is beyond rough, it's kind of the only way I want to play football games these days (with the exception of 2K5 and 2K8 of course).

I really hope 2K is using some Euphoria physics engine. That would be all-time.
