A few things I would like to see in 13 ...

- that plays would take less time to develope than what they currently do, in general.
- take out the circles for initiating plays, plays should be called from anywhere on the court ... even tho the players move once you call them.

- also, change those restrictive circles for areas (like the indicators for zone d but without the colors), to prevent the plays to broke as easily as they do now or to delay/last forever, due to players not being on tiny specific places.
- more playtype classes per players.

- dont take out the weighting of the playtypes for the players, not even for more playtypes per players ... or else we risk monotony or even worse: an unfixable/uneditable "broken" experience hence the recurrence of the huge amount of bad executed plays that seem to plague the playbooks for the past 2 years.
- better presentation of the plays when selecting one in the mid of the action (pages or colors by play types ? ... or the extra button press for having a specific order).

- editable quick plays ... or having quick plays per players.
- flexibility to chose where to go when on picks (left/right).

*customization, editability and vast options are a 2k benchmark ... let them know that we know and that we appreciate that, so they dont take things away but rather give us more ... even tho I understand that there arent endless resources.

If we can't get the playset idea implemented, then I feel this is a good step in the right direction as long as each individual play can have multiple play types.

Do you mean outcomes?

Aside from that, I'd like to see smart routes happen depending on the play execution. There are plays where your man doesn't set a pick properly and you keep running the play that just stops. For example, play is designed for a screen low to free up a mid range shot off a curl. Big man doesn't set the pick and the defender is right there on the shooter thus making the play useless. I'd like to see there be different results where the pick isn't set and you don't make the pass, they run back out of the area and the big man posts up or sets another screen while the intended recipient makes a back cut.

Of course, the defense would need to be able to try and adjust to these as well. Last thing I want is a money play on every play b/c the defender can't see something like the back screen developing.

This is where I am.

In my Association, I run plays a lot. But when the fellas come through, I use a different team every game. I tend to run a lot less plays if any at all, relying heavily on quick plays. Same for friends that don't study the playbooks as much as some of us. Not being able to select the player is quite limiting.

The old way was so much better, being able to tell any player to get open, come off screen, post up, etc. I'm guessing this gave way to fitting in more play options.

No need to separate pick and rolls and pick and pops, no play is ever determined to be one or the other. Simply make it easier to pop or roll. Live 10 had a very easy system in place

Plays in general need to be sped up, and would be nice if they could be called by any player from any spot on the court. I'd also love to see players rub their men off picks better, especially when they are the first option on a play.

Last thing, there needs to be some more handoff animations

What I'd prefer to see are more Cutter plays with a backdoor option and a more intelligent CPU that can identify alley-oop opportunities off backdoor cuts and cuts to the basket. There are a lot of plays right now with potential backdoor alley-oop options that will NEVER get executed by the CPU because they seem to be hard scripted into choosing one or two pass options by the play system.

That gets me to my last point which is somewhat off-topic: Freelance passing.

If the play system as a whole were designed to allow more freelance/unscripted passing within the context of the set play, then each actual play in the game becomes 2-3 plays within itself much like the way plays are executed in an actual basketball game at ANY level.

Most P&R plays are also 3PT plays by design (Spot Up, Off Screen, or Cut off-ball).
Most Cutter plays are also Alley-Oop or Mid Range plays by design (Backdoor or Off Screen).
Some High Post plays are also Low Post plays (High/Low action) or Cutter plays (Horns).
Some Low Post plays are also potential 3PT plays (Inside/Out spot up action similar to what Dwight Howard does with the Magic).

One of my main problems right now with the playbooks and play execution is that the CPU only acknowledges one or two of these options per play instead of allowing players to Freelance actions within the scheme/design of the play. We can pretty much control all of those Freelance actions via Tendencies and Hotspots, so why not let the gameplay take advantage of them?

actually, there is no need for an extra button press. we can keep what we have now. the plays just need to be grouped together. for example, if i have Pick & Roll handler, Isolation, Low post, and High Post as my 4 play types, page 1 should look like this

see! ALL P&R plays.

then page 2 would look like this

all Isolation plays together.

that way little timmy knows what he is choosing and he learns which plays are which. Ice = Isolation

the way they are now, there all jumbled together and even i get confused sometimes.
