The hold off defenders (hostage dribble) mechanic is bugged in New Gen

Great post. The pnr defense and interactions killed the game for me this year. The lack of hold off being one of the big factors

The funny thing is that it works in Old Gen. There are other minor issues as well. Like the transition from running to walking. By MrFil23.

It seems that animation blending has been an issue this year. Hope that at least they fix the hold off mechanic in a future patch.

I’ve kind of gotten it to work in next gen, but it’s really random and usually off high pick and rolls above the 3 point line and not in the lane. It rarely happens though.

I've triggered the hold off animations for a very short period of time like twice in 2k24 New Gen. Also above the 3pt line. This is why I think it's bugged. The mechanic is there, but it's almost impossible to trigger.

I gave up on 2k fixing this mechanic. The last gameplay change they made was in early January for Season 4.

It's sad because it's a great move that most NBA elite ball handlers use against drop coverage. Here's SGA with a perfect hostage dribble execution:

I'd like it to be attached to a badge. I only want to see players like SGA , CP3, Booker. Someone like KD nope.
