I think they sacrifice graphics for better framerate, basically.

To be fair…… 2K is portraying a lot less than The Show……. Grass and outdoor stadiums with 40k people are probably more of a job than a 90 ft court with 15k people in the stands indoors, although I agree 2K does a great job with graphics

The game is never showing all those fans at once. I think the show’s engine is probably outdated if it can’t run at a locked 60fps all the time.

this has been *THE* problem for me for the show for more than a decade. the MLB 2K games had much better pitching motion animations. every time a new show game comes out i spend lots of time editing pitcher deliveries.

Anyone else think the dirt and grass textures have been improved? It looks a lot better to me than last year, as does the daytime lighting. Lighting during 4pm games looks so much better imo, and shadows on players look more realistic as well. Its not the overhaul Ive been asking for but there are some small graphical that do add up to a pretty solid looking game on PS5.

As someone who has harped on the graphics and how outdated they were The Show 22 looks pretty damn good. I think it’s all a lighting adjustment. Textures appear the same.

No, the grass and dirt is exactly the same, in some stadiums it just looks better than others. Some dirt has okay textures while others are really flat/carpet looking…and don’t get me started on those “bread crums” what was an extra for the PS4 pro years ago. Unfortunately now on the PS5 we haven’t gotten any progress in that regard.

Re: Are there ANY new graphical enhancements this year?

Spent about four hours with this puppy. Vibing me like a 95/100 type situation, hoping the internal logic changes to franchise pan out.

Graphics, honestly the birds look better than anything else. Some decent texture upgrades here and there but I’d say it looks 98% or so the same.

Still getting some aliasing but not much.

I think they made a big mistake giving so much attention to the crowd over the years. All those 3D models with individual behaviors was really ambitious at the time, but looking back all it did was tank the framerate for five years.

I mention that because really the game looks pretty good except for basically all the humans. The crowd looks pretty bad and the players look pretty bad. (Bad is relative here, obviously. They’re just awfully last-gen-looking, is all I mean.)

The game really needs a more advanced lighting engine.
