Re: TNK MLB 24 SLIDERS

TNK - BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE
Game #27 of Season

Chicago Cubs (15-10) @ Boston Red Sox (16-10)
Pitching Matchup – Justin Steele (2-1, 2.76 ERA) vs Kutter Crawford (0-1, 3.26 ERA)

NOTE - I am using Co-Pilot AI to write the recaps now. I basically type the recap [the way I normally do and copy/paste it into Co-Pilot and tell it "rewrite this as a sports article". I've been using Co=Pilot at my job when I have important emails to write and/or respond to, it corrects any errors and gives back a beautifully written email that makes me sound way more eloquent than I actually am. If you haven't played around with a tool like Co-Pilot, I highly recommend checking it out

Historic Fenway Park is set to host an electrifying inter-league series that will see the Boston Red Sox take on the Chicago Cubs. The Red Sox, riding high on a two-game winning streak, are looking to continue their ascent in the AL East standings, where they currently hold third place, trailing the first-place Orioles by 4 games with a solid 16-10 record. The Cubs, not far behind in their own divisional race, are just half a game behind the NL Central-leading Pirates, boasting a commendable 15-10 record. This three-game series in Boston is more than just a set of games; it’s a battle for momentum as both teams vie for the top spot in their respective divisions. Fans from both cities are buzzing with excitement as two of the league’s storied franchises collide.

The early stages of the game between the Red Sox and Cubs was a showcase of stellar pitching as Kutter Crawford retired the first nine batters with ease for Boston, while Justin Steele of the Cubs allowed only two hits through three innings, keeping the game scoreless. The fourth inning brought the Cubs’ first hit from Nick Madrigal, but his attempt to steal second was foiled by a strong throw from Wong. The Red Sox Bobby Dalbec hit a ball deep down the right-field line, but it ended up as a ground rule double, leaving O’Neill stranded at third. Steele struck out Yoshida to end the threat and keep the game tied 0-0.

The fifth inning saw the Cubs take the lead with Matt Mervis’ sacrifice fly, but the Red Sox quickly responded. Pablo Reyes turned on a low fastball from Steele, sending it over the green monster for a solo home run, tying the game at 1-1. Nick Madrigal reached base on a throwing error by Red Sox shortstop David Hamilton with 1 out in the top of the 6th. Kutter Crawford capped off his impressive outing for Boston by inducing Cody Bellinger to hit into a fielder’s choice and then striking out Morel for his fifth K of the game as the inning concluded with the Cubs failing to score. The Red Sox bats came alive in the bottom of the 6th. After Steele dispatched Devers to lead off the bottom of the 6th, Tyler O’Neill doubled to the gap, setting the stage for Triston Casas who drove in the leading run with a RBI double to left-center to give Boston a 2-1 lead. Bobby Dalbec continued the rally with an RBI single, bringing Casas home and extending Boston’s lead to 3-1. The inning ended with Yoshida grounding into a double play, but not before the Red Sox took a 3-1 lead into the 7th inning.

Josh Winckowski took over on the mound for Boston and the 7th inning started with Ian Happ hitting a double to right field. Despite Winckowski striking out Tauchman, Matt Mervis managed to drive a soft line drive into center field, bringing in a run with a single and narrowing Boston’s lead to 3-2. Following a consultation on the mound with pitching coach Andrew Bailey, Winckowski regained his composure and struck out both Pete Crow-Armstrong and Miguel Amaya, maintaining Boston’s slim lead. Yency Almonte pitched a scoreless bottom of the 7th for Chicago as the game progressed into the eighth inning with the Red Sox leading 3-2. In the top of the 8th, Chris Martin struck out Dansby Swanson and Nick Madrigal flied out to Tyler O’Neill in RF, securing two quick outs. Cody Bellinger then placed a blooper into right-center, landing a 2-out double. Christopher Morel followed with a ground ball through the right side for a RBI single, allowing Bellinger to score the tying run, making it 3-3. Martin wrapped up the inning with a key strikeout of Ian Happ, but the Cubs had managed to tie the game. In the bottom of the 8th, Drew Smyly took the mound for the Cubs, and Rafael Devers started with a deep drive to RF, but Mike Tauchman made a notable catch on the run at the warning track. Triston Casas singled with 2 outs, but Smyly concluded the inning with a strikeout of Bobby Dalbec, sending the game to the 9th with the score still tied at 3-3. In the top of the 9th, Brennan Bernardino took over on the mound for Boston, surrendering a lead off single to Tauchman. Nico Hoerner pinch-hit for Mervis, but Bernardino recorded back-to-back strikeouts of Hoerner and Crow-Armstrong. Miguel Amaya then laced a fair ground ball over the third base bag for a single, advancing Tauchman to third and placing runners at the corners with two outs. Dansby Swanson was up next, but after Justin Slaten replaced Bernardino from the Boston bullpen, Swanson lined a first-pitch slider deep to LF but Masataka Yoshida made a spectacular game-saving catch while crashing into the Green Monster keeping the score knotted at 3-3. In the bottom of the 9th, Boston stepped up to bat with Keegan Thompson now pitching for Chicago. Yoshida grounded out, but Connor Wong reached base on a rocket that Swanson knocked down with a diving stop but he had no play as Wong reached, putting Boston’s winning run on first with one out. Despite considering a pinch hitter for Pablo Reyes, manager Alex Cora stuck with Reyes who was 2 for 3 with a HR in the ball game. Reyes capitalized on a 3-1 count, hammering a Thompson fastball for a 408-foot, two-run, walk-off HR over the Green Monster in left-center sending Fenway Park into a frenzy as the Red Sox come away a 5-3 victory.

GAME NOTES
* The Red Sox and Cubs were tied 3-3 in the 9th when Yoshida made an outstanding game-saving catch crashing into the wall and holding on to save two runs ending the top of the 9th before Pablo Reyes hit a walk off HR in the bottom of the 9th giving the Red Sox a thrilling walk off victory

* The Red Sox have won 3 in a row and improve to 17-10 while the Cubs fall to 15-11 on the season

* Pablo Reyes was the hero for Boston as he got the start at second base to give Valdez a day off and Reyes would go 3 for 4 with 2 HR & 3 RBI inclduing a walk off game winning 2-run HR in the bottom of the 9th. Reyes is now hitting .278 with 3 HR & 6 RBI while playing a banch role

* Matt Mervis was amking his season debut for the Cubs and drove in 2 RBI

* Kutter Crawford pitched 6 strong innings allowing 1 run on 5 hits with 5 Ks in a no decision for Boston

* Justin Steele pitched 6 innings allowing 3 runs on 7 hits with 1 walk & 8 Ks for Chicago in a no decision

* The Red Sox and Cubs will play the 2nd game of this 3 game series tomorrow Cooper Criswell set to make his Red Sox debut as he gets the start on the mound for Boston while Jameson Taillon makes the start for Chicago

TNK - BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE
Game #28 of Season

Chicago Cubs (15-11) @ Boston Red Sox (17-10)
Pitching Matchup – Jameson Taillon (0-3, 5.19 ERA) vs Cooper Criswell (0-0, 0.00 ERA)

Cooper Criswell made quick work of the Cubs in his first two innings of work and the Red Sox would open the scoring in the bottom of the 2nd against Jameson Taillon when Masataka Yoshida doubled with 1 out and Wilyer Abreu followed with a RBI double to give Boston a 1-0 lead. The Cubs bats came alive in the top of the 3rd as Pete Crow-Armstrong reached and stole second base before Mike Tauchman and Cody Bellinger delivered two RBI singles to give Chicago a 2-1 lead. Christopher Morel followed with a rocket off the green monster in LF scoring Happ to make it 3-1 and Bellinger tried to come all the way around from first but was cut down on a relay to the plate for the final out. Boston got a run back in the bottom of the 3rd on a sac fly by O'Neill and we would head to the 4th with Chicago leading 3-2. Criswell pitched a 1-2-3 top of the 4th and the Red Sox would tie the game in the bottom of the 4th when Enmanuel Valdez drove a ball deep off the wall in CF tying the game 3-3. Criswell pitched a scoreless top of the 5th and Jarren Duran led off the bottom of the 5th with a ground rule double down the RF line and came in to score on a RBI single by Rafael Devers putting the Red Sox up 4-3 with nobody out. Tyler O'Neill followed with a double high off the monster in LF putting men on 2nd & 3rd and Jordan Wicks replaced Taillon on the mound as the Sox were threatening to have a big inning with two men in scoring position and nobody out. Triston Casas grounded out and Devers scored to make it 5-3 and Masataka Yoshida blew the game open as he drove a ball deep to LF that carried over the green monster for a 2-run HR pushing the Red Sox lead to 7-3. Criswell returned to the mound to begin the top of the 6th with a four run lead and retired the side striking out Mervis to end the frame. Wicks retired the side in order in the bottom half to send the game to the 7th inning with Boston leading 7-3. Criswell finished his outing with another scoreless frame striking out Tauchman looking at a back door slider and Wicks got Yoshida to bounce into an inning ending 4-6-3 double play sending the game to the 8th inning with the Red Sox up 7-3. Justin Slaten came on to pitch a 1-2-3 top of the 8th for Boston. Drew Smyly came on to pitch the bottom of the 8th and gave up singles by Abreu, Valdez and Hamilton to load the bases with 1 out for Jarren Duran who ripped a liner up the middle for a two run single extending the lead to 9-3. Boston would load the bases again with 2 outs for Casas but Colten Brewer would get him to ground out ending the 8th and we would go to the 9th inning with Boston leading 9-3. Dansby Swanson led off the top of the 9th with a double and Slaten would get Mervis to ground out for the 1st out. Greg Weissert took over for Slaten on the mound and Swanson would come in to score on a RBI ground out by Miguel Amaya cutting the lead to 9-4 but the Cubs were down to their final out. Weissert would get Nico Hoerner on a ground ball out to end the game and the Red Sox win 9-4

Re: TNK MLB 24 SLIDERS

TNK - BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE
Game #29 of Season

Chicago Cubs (15-12) @ Boston Red Sox (18-10)
Pitching Matchup – Shota Imanaga (1-1, 5.28 ERA) vs Garrett Whitlock (4-0, 1.14 ERA)

Garrett Whitlock and Shota Imanaga were both pitching well early on and the game was scoreless after 3 innings as we would head to the 4th inning tied 0-0. Chicago put runners on the corners with 2 outs in the top of the 4th but Whitlock would retire Miguel Amaya on a ground ball to Rafaela at SS to end the threat and keep the game scoreless. Imanaga retired the side in the bottom of the 4th sending the game to the 5th inning tied 0-0. Whitlock and Imanaga pitched scoreless frames in the 5th and we would move to the 6th inning with the score still tied 0-0. The Cubs were threatening in the top of the 6th after a single by Dansby Swanson put runners on the corners with 2 outs for Patrick Wisdom. Whitlock would leave a sinker over the plate to Wisdom who hit a long drive that was hooking down the LF line and stayed fair just clearing the green monster for a huge 3-run HR to give the Cubs a 3-0 lead. Imanaga got some help from his defense as Pete Crow-Armstrong made a nice running catch at the warning track in CF taking extra bases away from Casas and saving a run as we would head to the 7th inning with Chicago leading 3-0. Zack Kelly was making his season debut for Boston and pitched a scoreless top of the 7th striking out Bellinger looking to end the frame. The Red Sox were threatening in the bottom of the 7th after back to back singles by Wilyer Abreu and Connor Wong with 1 out. Valdez flew out to Tauchman in RF for the 2nd out bringing up Ceddanne Rafaela with 2 on and 2 outs. Rafaela would get into a hitters count and get a hanging slider from Imanaga and drive it deep to LF midway up the green monster for extra bases as Valdez scored but Wong was cut down when he held up rounding third base and was tagged out scrambling back to the bag ending the inning and sending the game to the 8th inning with the Cubs leading 3-1. Kelly pitched a scoreless top of the 8th and Adbert Alzolay retired the side in the bottom of the 8th sending the game to the 9th inning with Chicago leading 3-1. Chris Martin pitched a scoreless top of the 9th for Boston and the Red Sox would come to bat in the bottom of the 9th trailing 3-1 against Hector Neris who was on to try and close it out for the Cubs after recently taking over the closer role for Chicago. Triston Casas flew out to Crow-Armstrong in CF for the 1st out but Bobby Dalbec would follow with a liner into the LF corner but settled for a single to bring the tying run to the plate for Boston. Wilyer Abreu hit a fly ball deep to RF sending Tauchman back and he would make the catch at the warning track and the Red Sox were down to their final out with Connor Wong coming up. Wong hit a bouncer in the hole to the left side and would beat the throw from Swanson to first base putting two men on with 2 outs. Masataka Yoshida came out of the dugout to pinch hit for Enmanuel Valdez and crushed the first pitch down the RF line for what would have been a 3-run walk off HR but it hooked just foul. Neris would get two strikes on Yoshida who hit the ball hard up the middle but Swanson would make an outstanding diving stop and flipped the ball from his stomach to Hoerner for the final out and the Cubs win 3-1

GAME NOTES
* The Cubs get a 3-run HR from Patirick Wisdom and a strong pitching performance from Shota Imanaga as they beat the Red Sox 3-1 and avoid the sweep

* The Red Sox loss snaps their winning streak at 4 games and they fall to 18-11 while the Cubs improve to 16-12 on the season

* Patrick Wisdom was the hero for Chicago as he supplied all the offense when he launched a 3-run HR off Whitlock in the 6th inning. Wisdom finished the game 2 for 3 with a HR & 3 RBI and is now hitting .272 with 8 HR & 20 RBI

* Ceddanne Rafaela supplied the only Red Sox run with a RBI double in the 7th inning

* Garrett Whitlock pitched 6 innings allowing 3 runs on 9 hits with 7 Ks and suffered his first loss of the season falling to 4-1 with a 1.59 ERA

* Shota Imanaga pitched 7 strong innings allowing 1 run on 7 hits with 6 Ks earning the win to improve to 2-1 with a 4.50 ERA

* The Red Sox will have a day off tomorrow before the San Francisco Giants come to Boston to begin a 3 game series at Fenway Park. The Giants are off to tough start to the season and are currently in last place in the NL West with a record of 11-18 on the season. Tanner Houck will open the series on the mound for Boston while Keaton Winn gets the start for San Francisco.

Re: TNK MLB 24 SLIDERS

TNK - BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE
Game #30 of Season

San Francisco Giants (11-18) @ Boston Red Sox (18-11)
Pitching Matchup – Keaton Winn (0-4, 11.17 ERA) vs Tanner Houck (2-2, 3.73 ERA)

The Boston Red Sox jumped out to an early lead against the San Francisco Giants as Tyler O’Neill notched an RBI double followed by Wilyer Abreu’s 1st HR of the season as he launched a two-run HR to RF pushing the Boston lead to 3-0. O’Neill suffered an injury on his slide into second base and was forced to leave the game and Alex Cora to bring Rob Refsnyder into the game to take over in LF. Tanner Houck was showcasing command of his sinker over three scoreless frames while Giants’ hurler Keaton Winn settled down after a turbulent 1st inning and we would advance to the 4th inning with the Red Sox holding a 3-0 lead. The Red Sox would extend the lead in the bottom of the 4th when Winn hung a curveball to Garrett Cooper who launched a towering HR that cleared the green monster almost in CF as Cooper goes deep in his first game in a Red Sox uniform and Boston was leading 4-0 heading to the 5th inning. Houck recorded his 4th & 5th Ks of the ball game in a 1-2-3 top of the 5th and Winn finished a 1-2-3 bottom of the 5th by striking out Refsnyder for his 7th K of the night to send the game to the 6th inning with Boston leading 4-0. The score remained 4-0 through the 6th inning and San Francisco would get on the board in the top of the 7th after they put runners on the corners with 1 out and Michael Conforto would bring home a run with a sac fly to make it 4-1. The Red Sox answered in the bottom of the 7th with RBI singles by Rob Refsnyder and Garrett Cooper to make it 6-1 before Randy Rodriguez came in to record the final out sending the game to the 8th with Boston now leading 6-1. Chris Martin pitched a scoreless top of the 8th and Rodriguez pitched a scoreless bottom of the 8th to send the game to the 9th inning with the Red Sox holding a 6-1 lead. The Giants came up to bat in the bottom of the 9th against Chase Anderson who was on to pitch for Boston with a five run lead. San Francisco put two men on base with 1 out for Conforto who would pop out behind home plate to McGuire and the Giants were now down to their final out with Matt Chapman coming up. Anderson would strikeout Chapman on a curveball to end the game and the Red Sox win 6-1 to take the opener of the series

GAME NOTES
* The Red Sox take the opener of this 3 game series with the Giants by a score of 6-1

* The Red Sox improve to 19-11 while the Giants fall to 11-19 on the season

* Garrett Cooper was playing his first game in a Red Sox uniform and went 2 for 4 with a HR & 2 RBI in his debut. Wilyer Abreu also continues to swing a hot bat of late going 2 for 4 with a HR & 2 RBI for Boston

* Michael Conforto knocked in the only run for San Francisco with a sac fly in the 7th inning

* Tanner Houck pitched 7 strong innings allowing 1 run on 6 hits with 6 Ks to earn the win improving to 3-2 with a 3.29 ERA

* Keaton Winn pitched 5 innings allowing 4 runs on 6 hits with 7 Ks taking the loss to fall to 0-5 with a 10.36 ERA

Cooper comes to Boston hitting .261 with 0 HR & 1 RBI on the season in limited action with Chicago before he was designated for assignment. Dalbec was having a good start to the season but he still has options and could be sent down without going on waivers.

* Red Sox 2B Vaughn Grissom is wrapping up his rehab after suffering an injury in spring training and is expected to be activated following the series with the Giants when the Red Sox travel to Minnesota to make his much anticipated Red Sox debut after being acquired from the Braves in the off-season in return for Chris Sale.

* The Red Sox and Giants will play the 2nd game of this 3 game series tomorrow with Brayan Bello scheduled to pitch for Boston while Blake Snell will make the start for San Francisco in what should be an excellent pitching matchup.

Re: TNK MLB 24 SLIDERS

TNK - BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE
Game #31 of Season

San Francisco Giants (11-19) @ Boston Red Sox (19-11)
Pitching Matchup – Blake Snell (3-1, 2.13 ERA) vs Brayan Bello (1-1, 2.70 ERA)

Brayan Bello and Blake Snell were both pitching well early as the game was scoreless until the bottom of the 4th when Jarren Duran walked to lead off the inning, then stole second base and Rafael Devers got a good pitch to hit with a full count and smoked a liner in the gap in right-center for a RBI double putting Boston up 1-0. Tyler O'Neill was up next and Snell left a changeup up and over the plate that O'Neill crushed for a 2-run HR off the billboard over the monster seats in LF making it 3-0. Wilyer Abreu just missed going back to back as he drove a ball the opposite way high off the green monster for a double. Nick Ahmed made a tough play in the hole but bounced his throw to first base allowing Garrett Cooper to reach and the Red Sox had two men on still with nobody out. Snell would get two big outs bringing up Ceddanne Rafaela with runners on the corners and he would draw a two out walk to load the bases for Zack Short but Snell would record a huge K as Short went down swinging on a breaking ball and the Red Sox leave the bases loaded but score 3 runs and we would head to the 5th with Boston leading 3-0. Short made a nice leaping catch to snare a line drive off the bat of Jorge Soler ending the top of the 5th and Snell bounced back with a scoreless frame in the bottom of the inning to send the game to the 6th with the Red Sox leading 3-0. Bello recorded two quick outs in the top of the 6th before back to back singles by Michael Conforto and Patrick Bailey put two on with 2 outs for Thairo Estrada who hit the ball to the left side on the ground but Rafaela would get to it and make a spinning throw to second base to force Bailey and end the threat as Bello escapes and the score remains 3-0. Luke Jackson took over on the mound for San Francisco and he would strikeout Rafaela with a man in scoring position to end the inning sending us to the 7th inning with Boston up 3-0. Bello pitched a 1-2-3 top of the 7th and Jackson pitched a scoreless bottom of the 7th to send the game to the 8th inning with the Red Sox leading 3-0. Bello was at 95 pitches as he returned to the mound to begin the top of the 8th and he would retire Soler and Wade both on ground balls to Short at second base for two quick outs and Bello would get Chapman to fly out to Duran in CF to finish off 8 shutout innings on the mound for Bello. Ryan Walker retired the side in order in the bottom of the 8th and we would head to the 9th inning with the Giants coming up to bat trailing 3-0. Bello came back out to begin the 9th inning as Alex Cora is going to give him a chance at the complete game shutout but the leash will be very short as Bello is at 104 pitches. Michael Conforto led off the top of the 9th with a hard hit ground ball but he was retired on a nice play at SS by Rafaela for the 1st out. Patrick Bailey followed with a soft liner to Rafaela at SS who made the catch and the Giants were down to their final out with Bello 1 out away from the complete game shutout at 111 pitches on the night. Thairo Estrada swung at the first pitch and hit a chopper to the left side where Devers would field it and fire a strong throw across the diamond for the final out as the Red Sox win 3-0

Going forward I will continue posting box scores and highlights, but the recaps will be brief in an effort to save time

GAME NOTES

* The Red Sox improve to 20-11 while the Giants drop to 11-20 on the season

* Tyler O'Neill had the big blow for Boston with a 2-run HR in the bottom of the 4th and O'Neill would finish the game 2 for 4 with a HR & 2 RBI. O'Neill is having a good start to his first season in Boston as he is hitting .306 with 7 HR & 22 RBI on the season

* The Red Sox have placed OF Masataka Yoshida on the injured list with a bruised hand and called up 1B Dominic Smith
