I wouldn't mind us bringing back Kimbrel at all either. The original issue with us bringing him back was his demands. He was looking for a 4 year contract worth $17-$19 million per. He did come down from that in recent weeks to around demands for a contract in the $15-$17 million range.

I don't think we're going to pay Kimbrel a multi-year contract for that much money. I can see us giving him a 1-2 year contract in that range but not a longer term deal.

Re: 2019 Atlanta Braves

Why are the Braves some announcers & radio host down on Julio Teheran? Smoltz, Glavine, Maddux & Hudson days are gone! Julio has been good pitcher for us. I personally would take him over Folty, Newcomb & Gausman. Track record is there! There's no 15 or over winner's rarely. Its all quality starts, giving your team the opportunity to win. It pissed me off in the postseason last year not giving Julio a start. We still got swept by the Dodgers.

I do think Julio has gotten a raw deal as he's been very durable and a solid pitcher, but I don't think he's lived up to his potential and has regressed the last few years (since the move to Sun Trust). If he could cut down on the walks I'd be a lot happier. Did you know that last year Julio set the Braves record by a starting pitcher for lowest BAA, breaking Maddux's record? I wouldn't have guessed that...of course, he walked nearly 5 per 9 IP, so he still had baserunners everywhere.

Yeah I knew about the low BAA. It was alot to live up to coming up behind those four. You think! Although maybe 2-3 yrs removed from the glory years of our dominant pitching staff.

Latest chat/rumors now are that Braves management & Kimbrel are pretty close on numbers(average salary per year) but it's the amount of years that seems to be the problem holding a deal back as of right now.

Kimbrel is said to be wanting a 4-5 year deal but the Braves are only willing to go up to a 3-year deal. We will see but I think Kimbrel wants to be a Brave again. I think he will be the one that caves into a 3-year deal myself.
