Here is the video of the Hail Mary that beat me last year. The quality isn’t good, but you can still see what happened.

Re: The Alaska Warriors Reboot
Year 2 - Week 1 At #5 Oregon
We have our first ever ranked win this week. Alaska opened up their second season with a monumental win over #5 Oregon. It was a hard-fought game, but the momentum really shifted with just under two minutes left in the first half. Alaska had just gone up 14-13 when Demetrius Heinz picked off a pass and took it for a touchdown. Alaska would pull a gutsy move and go for two to make it a two-score game, and they'd never really look back. Oregon would score to open the second half, but that would be the last time they'd score. Alaska picked up another 13 points and eventually won the game 35-20. Jeremy Riggs had an efficient day with no touchdowns but no turnovers. It was a very clean game from both a turnover and penalty standpoint. Other news Kent State also had a huge upset over #7 Ohio State 51-35 Ball State beat #12 Iowa 31-28 and #6 USC lost to Fresno State 31-24

Re: The Alaska Warriors Reboot
Year 2 - Weeks 2 & 3 Vs. Akron If there's one thing you need to know about college football, it's that there are no guarantees. You can never assume you know a team after one week of football, and I myself fell in to that black hole. I was riding high after that week 1 victory over the country's number 5 team, but reality hit very hard against Akron. It was a wild game, extremely high scoring. The talk coming in was about Akron's running game, but their passing game was the story here. Alaska simply couldn't stop anything. Jared Martinez became the first person in Alaska history to return a kick for a touchdown, and Gerren Davis had a 98 yard pick six. But Akron was throwing it all over the field. Andy Jenkins at half was 23/37 for 324 yards, while receiver Cliff Bryant had 9 receptions for 162 yards and 2 touchdowns in the first half. Alaska struggled to get Akron off the field on third downs. Akron won the time of possession battle, which is crazy considering they were a no-huddle tempo team. Also, RB Darrin Pierre tore a pectoral muscle and will be out possibly for the rest of the year.
At #25 Iowa In what Alaska hoped would be a bounce-back game, this game was all but that. It started off with a 100 yard kickoff return for Iowa and they never really looked back. OC Jamie Montgomery was made available to the media following the game and he had some choice words for his unit: "Our jobs are to put the players in the best position to succeed. I felt like we had a good shot today. I felt like our gameplan was solid and the play calls were solid. It's just hard, man. Like, you look at the game and you see that we moved the ball well, but every time we started to gain momentum, we turned the ball over or committed a penalty. Jeremy has to be better. He's been our best option because we haven't seen the accuracy out of our other guys. But when he's in there, it's hard to trust or know which Jeremy we're going to get." Coach Hardaway was visibly annoyed when he learned of his OC's comments: "We're working hard every day out there. Our kids are putting in the same time and the same effort as every other school out there. It's a hard pill to swallow when you lose like this, but those kinds of comments aren't something I want to hear coming from our coaches. He and I will have a discussion and that will be that." When asked about the quarterback play, he had this to say: "We're going to work on some things this week and start making some decisions. If any are made, you'll see it on the field. That's all I'm going to say." It's been a rough go for Jeremy Riggs in his career. He threw more than 20 interceptions last year, and has thrown 8 in the last two games, including a team record of 5 in the game today. He also set a record for attempts and completions in this game. Is there some dissension beginning to build in the Alaska locker room? Runningback Josh Roberson was injured in this game and will miss the next 4 weeks. Third-string RB Quincy Outlaw will get the start in his place.

Re: The Alaska Warriors Reboot
Year 2 - Weeks 4 & 5 At Georgia Alaska looked strong against Georgia, but ultimately fell 31-27. The run game did fairly well, and QB Jeremy Riggs took care of the football. He threw one interception at the end of the game, but it came off of a wide open receiver's hands and a DB was able to choral it just before it touched the ground.
Vs. UNLV Today was probably the best day on the ground for Alaska in their history. They rushed 40 times for 290 yards and 3 touchdowns. Quincy Outlaw rushed 22 times for 125 yards. While Jeremy Riggs had 2 first half interceptions, he ultimately rebounded and led the team to a great outcome. Alaska was a perfect 6-6 in the red zone and 12-14 on third down. They were able to keep the ball moving and were able to get stops.
Team News: Alaska has secured a home-and-home with Vanderbilt. They will play them at home in 2015 and will travel to Nashville in 2016. They also picked up 4 commits. They got a center, tackle, safety, and middle linebacker. More will be discussed about recruits later in the year. This week Alaska will travel to #14 Tennessee, who is coming off a loss.

Re: The Alaska Warriors Reboot
Year 2 - Weeks 6 & 7 @ #14 Tennessee Turnovers, turnovers, and more turnovers. Quarterback Jeremy Riggs threw three more interceptions and was benched. Two were bad passes and the third was a bad decision (well, the DB ran the route and had his back turned when the ball got there but yall know how that goes), and Alaska's defense had no real chance. Tennessee ran all over the Warriors and won 66-34. One piece of HUGE news that came out of this is that Raymond Breedlove will start the next game against Minnesota. He is a 69 overall versus Riggs' 74 overall, but he has a more accurate arm and less speed. However, as we saw with his 71 yard rush at the end of the game, he has enough speed to make some things happen.
vs. Minnesota This game started all Alaska, and the Warriors were able to hang on at the end to secure a victory! The action started with Alaska getting the ball and returning the kick 58 yards. That set up an opening-drive touchdown. Runningback Josh Roberson returned today from his injury as well and played well. At half, Alaska was up 35-17. To open the third, Minnesota was driving. Their quarterback stepped back to pass to the end zone, but Raishaun Leierer picked off the pass to slow Minnesota's momentum. They would also muff a punt later in the game that would set up an Alaska touchdown. The final score was 44-38, but that included a last minute touchdown by Minnesota to make the game look closer than it was.
"Breedlove played well today. He will start next week against A&M and we'll go from there," Coach Hardaway said after the game. He also indicated that he wants to do a better job of running the ball and not relying so much on the pass. "Our issue is we just don't move the ball consistently enough on the ground. Some is scheme, some is execution, and some of it honestly is just us getting away from it. We can't expect our quarterbacks to go out and throw the ball 40 times every single game. We aren't putting them in the best position to be successful and that often leads to picks. There's a lot to work on but I'm encouraged by what we saw this week." Other news Stanford beat Arizona State 63-56 in overtime #1 Notre Dame lost to Virginia 35-20, then lost to Stanford Michigan State beat #9 Syracuse |

Re: The Alaska Warriors Reboot
Mid-Year Poll and Housekeeping
The current top 25 is the weirdest I've ever seen. Look at all the G5 schools in there, and the top 3 is WILD. lol. I'm currently debating the style I want to present things to you. If you'd prefer more in depth weekly stuff let me know. My issue is when I play I like to play a couple games at a time, and the way I'm set up, it's uncomfortable and inconvenient to do reporting style posts. If I get more interaction I'll definitely be glad to do this, but I need to know what you enjoy. |

Re: The Alaska Warriors Reboot
Year 2 - Week 8 At Texas A&M Texas A&M came in to the year ranked 22 and had high hopes. While they haven't lived up to expectations this year, they still have a very talented team and it showed today. Raymond Breedlove was plagued with a bad situation. Early in the game he had two throws where defenders made great plays on the ball, jumping routes that I haven't personally seen much of in the game. Later in the game, down and looking to make it closer, a receiver tipped a would-be touchdown right in to the hands of a defender. And finally, with time clocking down and Alaska down by 17, a desperation throw was also picked off. So yes, Raymond Breedlove's second start had four picks. But until the last quarter where he had to just start slinging it, he had a decent line. He was productive, the team incorporated more option and they really tried to stick to the run game. Unfortunately, the Aggies had too much firepower at the quarterback position. Robertson had 317 yards on 75% passing, while adding 137 yards and 3 scores on the ground. His five total touchdowns lead the way. Other than a boneheaded (and, frankly, stupid) pick six with under 2 minutes remaining, he was virtually flawless. The Aggies won 45-35. "It's tough. I knew when we started the program that it would be hard. We'll continue to work on the gameplan, and hopefully we'll have a game soon where we can play actual football and not this backyard nonsense we've been playing. I don't like throwing the ball like we do," said Coach Hardaway. This is the second straight week he's mentioned the amount of passes. "Coach, how do you plan on accomplishing that?" "It's going to be on the quarterbacks. Our scheme is going to change and we're going to start using their feet more. Jeremy is the most athletic quarterback we have, and we didn't utilize that strength early on. So we're going to work with both- Raymond will start and Jeremy will play as well. We'll ride the hot hand."
