Read/write times aren't in the same ball park for ssds vs hdds. It's night and day really. You would see a pretty big difference in application/OS load times. That said, a good GPU will play a larger role in performance of PC games vs a ssd.

120GB seems to be the most competitively priced ssd right now. That would allow for your OS, some applications and a few games. You could raid 0 two 120s and you'd probably have enough room to do whatever you'd like (though you'd still want a storage drive). I currently have a raid 0 of 10k rpm drives as my primary for games/os/apps. Then I have a 1tb drive for data and steam games that I'm not currently playing.

I plan on doing a rebuild at the end of 2013 and finally making the switch to ssds..so long as the price keeps coming down.

Gonna roll the dice on a 240GB SSD. Will come out to $166 after discounts and rebates, seems like a good deal to me.

It's this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820227727.

On top of the $20 mail in rebate, I got a promo code from newegg for 15% off all OCZ internal SSDs, but it says it's non-transferrable and only useable by the email it was sent to. You can try though: BTENFGN45

Re: Official "I want to build a New PC!" Thread

You can get the same PSU combined with the i5-2500 for just $20 more. If you don't go i7, at least go with the 2500.

It's list the 5th one down.
