Re: What's good to watch on Netflix

I finished season 3 of the Inbetweeners and the movie a couple of weeks ago. Very funny.

When Jews Were Funny.

Great documentary about understanding the Jewish culture influencing their brand of comedy... and how that comedy dominated decades.

Superheroes: A Never Ending Battle

Historical account of comic books and their place in history and society. Watched 2 of the 3 installments so far. Interesting to see photos and footage of vintage artists and writers as well as descriptions of the industry. Like any PBS documentary I have found at least one commentator pretty annoying.

Addendum: Finished episode 3. Ep. 2 I found to be the best of the lot. I love Stan Lee, but he always has this overly generic description of how he came up with the origin of a superhero he created. Leaves you wanting more, but, hey, it's Stan Lee so you can't get mad at him.

Also, got back into Copper after initially bailing on the first few episodes. Both seasons on Netflix and from what I understand the die-hards are rioting to get it back into production.

The Battered Bastards of Baseball.

This may have been one of the best documentary films I've watched in the last 20 years. I have to say that I was left with that slight bitter feeling I had with the MLB of the '94 strike. But this is an amazing story from front to back about Kurt Russell's father who re-invigorated baseball in Portland and took on the big, ugly corporate monster that professional baseball had become.

"The Four Year Plan"

A great sports documentary about the Queens Park Rangers. This is right after they were bought by new owners who had a Four Year Plan to get QPR promoted back into the Premier League (England's top football league). All the commentary/video is from following the owners and coaching staff around through the 4 years. Really good raw emotion throughout. Highly reccomend.

Also as said above, Friday Night Lights. Especially nearing football season.
