Appreciate it! I've been having a blast so I'm a bit ahead in the actual game than with these posts. Currently doing the 2003 offseason and Draft!

Re: NBA 2K23 - The Kobe Era Reimagined

Conference Semifinals Predictions

(7) Dallas Mavericks @ (6) Los Angeles Clippers
Dallas is coming off of a huge win over the Clippers’ neighbor, the Lakers. While the Clippers are young, fully of energy, and exciting, the combination of Nowitzki, Nash, and Finley will prove to be too much for them to overcome.

Prediction: Mavericks in 6

(3) Orlando Magic @ (2) New Jersey Nets
This could be the most interesting series of the second round. Orlando is much improved and has three viable stars while the Nets are extremely balanced and play lockdown defense. That defense is our pick to be the difference, leading the Nets back to the Conference Finals.

Prediction: Nets in 7

(4) Minnesota Timberwolves @ (1) San Antonio Spurs
Kevin Garnett had an incredible season that has brought Minnesota further than ever. Alas, that’s as far as we predict he’ll go. The Spurs are simply deeper, better coached, and Tim Duncan is the only guy in the league who can match him.

Prediction: Spurs in 6

(5) Indiana Pacers @ (1) Detroit Pistons
While Indiana has impressed in the season and playoffs, this feels like it’ll be a struggle for them. They are already not one of the better offensive teams in the league and Detroit is shutdown on the defensive end.

Prediction: Pistons in 4

Re: NBA 2K23 - The Kobe Era Reimagined

The battle of the power forwards went to Dirk Nowitzki (43 points, 12 rebounds) and the game and series went to the Mavericks as they closed it out with a 115-106 overtime win over the Clippers. Los Angeles sent the game into OT when Elton Brand (37 points, 15 rebounds) scored on a hook shot with 4.0 left. Michael Finley (22 points) hit a buzzer-beater but it was waved off for coming just after the clock hit 0.0.

Conference Finals Predictions

(2) New Jersey Nets @ (1) Detroit Pistons
A matchup pitting two of the league’s three best defenses against each other. Expect some low scoring affairs. The Nets have the experience as a unit but there’s something about the way this Pistons squad has powered through the Playoffs that likely gives them the edge. It’ll be a grind but this is likely Detroit’s year to return to the Finals.

Prediction: Pistons in 7

(7) Dallas Mavericks @ (1) San Antonio Spurs
The Mavericks surprised many people when they upset the Lakers but the Spurs are an entirely different animal. Unlike LA, they blend veteran greatness like Duncan and Robinson with impressive youthful talent like Parker and Ginobili. Dallas can score but that top-ranked Spurs defense is the kind that wins championships.

Predictions: Spurs in 5

Re: NBA 2K23 - The Kobe Era Reimagined

The Nets are going back to the NBA Finals for the second straight year, sweeping the Pistons with a 95-91 game 4 win. The Pistons stifled so many with their defense but ran into a buzzsaw in the Nets, who had their number. Jason Kidd (17 points, 15 assists, 7 rebounds) hit a huge late three and a rare defensive miscue by the Pistons left Richard Jefferson (15 points) open for a dunk to make it 93-89. Richard Hamilton (25 points) nailed a jumper to cut it to two before Rasheed Wallace (14 points) missed a three and Ben Wallace (8 points, 24 rebounds) missed a putback. The Nets sealed it with free throws.
