Nashville Stars Logo Revealed

After revealing their minor league affiliate logos nearly one month ago, the Nashville Stars franchise finally release the big league club's logo:

The primary logo features the teams main colors, which also happen to be the colors of the Tennessee state flag. The three stars in the middle of the logo are placed just like they are in the state flag. Alternate logos feature a guitar pick with an "N" in the center of it which pays homage to the cities' rich country music history.

Nashville's new home uniform features a white jersey with navy blue "NASH" across the chest. Additionally, the sleeves feature a stylized "NASH" pick in front of six guitar strings.

Three other uniform combinations were introduced in addition to the traditional home white. The navy blue alternate jersey establishes the team's newest color which proudly pulls from the state flag as well as the original uniform colors from 1978. The alternate red jersey top is the only one of the four to feature "Stars" across the chest. The road gray uniforms feature the player number and "N" icon paired together in red across the chest.

Nashville Introduces Carmichael As First GM

After a thorough search by Nashville ownership, they decided to tab former top flight scout/assistant GM, Danny Carmichael, as the organization's first General Manager.

Carmichael spent the past two seasons as a scout with the Los Angeles Dodgers after serving as a scout for the San Diego Padres for the previous three seasons.

Carmichael was one of three shortlisted candidates to interview multiple times for the position with the Stars.

"We are excited to add Danny to our organization as our new general manager," Stars majority owner Andy Shumpert said in a statement. "Our vision for building this organization closely aligned. We wanted to put an emphasis on our scouting and development. So Danny's background will certainly help us in those areas."

During his introductory press conference that was held on Tuesday morning, Carmichael thanked the Stars' ownership group for the opportunity and then gave a brief statement about his vision for the organization. He stated the following:

We need to be one of the best in the league at developing our players. We will put a huge emphasis on the First Year Player Draft and International Free Agency. We will also put a huge emphasis on putting coaches in place that will maximize our players' potential. We need coaches who will develop them as players and as men. So that will be our focus moving forward as we build our staff and build up our farm system in preparation for 2025.

Other notable comments from Carmichael was the emphasis they plan to place on the analytics program and also on the importance of re-signing players. It's clear that homegrown players are going to be the focus of Nashville's vision for future success.

It was a solid opening press conference from Carmichael as he eventually stressed patience due to the difficulty building an expansion organization. But, expressed optimism that the organization will give Nashville fans a competitive team that they will cheer for.

From here, the organization will look to fill up their lower 4 teams with the best available minor league players.

2023 MLB First-Year Player Draft Recap

This is where the true farm system building begins. Our first crack at the MLB First-Year Player Draft.

The one change the MLB made is instead of drafting at the end of the first round like the Rays and Diamondbacks did in the 90's. We are drafting 5th with Portland drafting 6th. Next year it will flip and Portland will draft before us. This change was made to help give both organizations better opportunities to get impact players early.

The Pirates were on the clock to begin the draft and made a surprising selection when they chose Tennessee SP Chase Dollander over LSU SP Paul Skenes and LSU OF Dylan Crews. We thought there was a chance that Dollander fell to us with the 5th pick, so seeing him go #1 overall was definitely surprising. Throughout his 2023 season, Dollander went 9-1 with a 2.00 ERA. He pitched 94.2 innings and had a K:BB ratio of 126:20.

The Nationals went with LSU OF Dylan Crews with the 2nd pick. Their future outfield has the chance to be James Wood, Robert Hassell, and now Dylan Crews. Which is one scary trio for the rest of the league. During his 44 games in the 2023 season, Crews hit .316 with 15 HR's, 51 RBI's and stole 35 bases.

With the third pick, Detroit went with Ole Miss SS Jacob Gonzalez. Gonzalez improved quite a bit from his Sophomore to Junior season. During 2023 he solidified himself as a top 10 pick by hitting .302 with 12 HR's, 33 RBI's, while stealing 35 bases.

I personally cannot believe he fell to #4, but the Rangers snagged Paul Skenes from LSU. The potential rotation that they have with Jack Leiter, Kumar Rocker, and Paul Skenes, is just absurd. During his absolutely dominant 2023 season, Skenes went 10-4 with a 2.61 ERA in 20 starts. He pitched 134.2 innings and had a K:BB ratio of 148:37.

Now, we were on the clock with the 5th pick and decided to take a bit of a risk with our pick. We went with Franklin, IN prep OF, Max Clark. He had a phenomenal senior season where some scouts were discussing him with Dylan Crews as one of the top bats in the 2023 class. However, sign-ability issues dropped him down to us at #5. Our thought process was, we don't have a payroll at the moment. If spending over slot gets us arguably the best player in the draft to be a cornerstone for our organization moving forward, we need to do it. During his 2023 Senior season, Clark batted .506 with 3 HR's, 30 RBI's, while stealing 17 bases. He has a great hit tool, is fast, and is a good defender. He isn't known as a power hitter, but the hit tool paired with his exceptional speed have us convinced we found our future leadoff hitter. We eventually signed him by offering a $10,000,000 signing bonus.

Now, we'll focus on the picks that we made:

Round 2, Pick 5: LHP, Josh Hartle, Wake Forest: Hartle is a 6'4", 205 lbs. pitcher from Wake Forest. He wasn't a big strikeout guy during his 2023 season, but showed good stuff and solid command. In 14 starts during his 2023 season, Hartle went 6-4 with a 3.11 ERA in 92.2 IP. He had a total K:BB ratio of 90:25. There's a lot of upside with this pick.

Round 3, Pick 5: 3B, Brayden Taylor, TCU: Taylor was a projected first round pick. For some reason, he began falling down other teams boards. Pair that with a high signing bonus demand, and he fell right in our laps in the early 3rd round. In 62 games last year, Taylor hit .312, with 12 HR's and 64 RBI's. He has the flexibility to play either 3B or 2B at a high level. So the added positional flexibility was a plus for us as well.

Round 4, Pick 5: RF, TayShaun Walton, Emporia, VA: Walton is a 6'3", 215 lbs. corner outfielder prospect whose offensive profile we fell in love with. Walton has the potential for big time power paired with a plus hit tool. He also has a phenomenal eye for the ball for a player his age. We legitimately think that Walton could be a starting corner outfielder/DH for us in a few years. In 24 games during his Senior season, he hit .447 with 9 HR's, and 33 RBI's.

Round 5, Pick 5: LF, Evan Haeger, Novi, MI: Haeger is another speedy, left handed hitting outfielder we really liked. He has a great hit tool but doesn't hit for power. He's a solid defender that can play all 3 outfield positions as well as 1B. During his 2023 Senior season Haeger hit .432 with 2 HR's, 29 RBI's, and stole 22 bases in 22 games.

Round 6, Pick 5: 3B, George Wolkow, Downers Grove, IL: This is a pick I'm personally very excited about. There is BIG time potential with this pick. Wolkow is 6'7", 220 lbs. 17 year old prospect. His power is legit and his eye for the ball is great. His contact skills leave little to be desired and he strikes out a bit more than you'd want. But, if he is developed properly, this kid has superstar potential based on his power alone. During his Senior season, he hit .427 with 9 HR's, and 37 RBI's in 26 games.

Round 7, Pick 5: RHP, Chance Mako, Salisbury, NC: Prep arms are a lottery tickets in the drat. But in the 7th round, we felt like we would invest in one. Mako has great potential. He stands 6'5" and throws a great three pitch mix of a Fastball, Curveball, and Changeup. The one thing that Mako has to improve on his is command. Other than that, he has the makings of a MLB starter.

Round 8, Pick 5: LHP, Dylan Lonergan, Snellville, GA: Lonergan is a 6'2" left handed pitching prospect who has an absurd three pitch mix. He throws a devastating slider, a plus sinker, and a plus changeup. The reason he fell to the 8th round is his (currently) dreadful command. At worst, we think he could be a lights out, left-handed reliever for us.

Round 9, Pick 5: C, Hayden Gilliland, Tennessee Tech: Catcher wasn't necessarily a need for us as we were able to sign quite a few catchers when initially filling our minor league teams. But we love Gilliland's game. He has a plus hit tool and is solid in all other offensive categories. He's a great backstop with a solid arm. He has the tools to develop into a MLB caliber catcher.

Round 10, Pick 5: 1B, Alan Choo, Bradenton, FL: Choo attended one of the top prep academies in the United States, IMG Academy. Choo is 6'1", 230 lbs. and is another left-handed bat. There isn't one specific offensive category that sticks out in his game. He is just good at everything offensively and even has some deceptive speed for a 230 lbs. prep prospect.


One note that I did want to mention; our 12th Round Pick, RHP James Raidt, elected to not sign with us.

It's a shame most of the international leagues have been taken out of this year's version, but the big selling point (to me, at least) of OOTP is the customization. I have some ideas for league expansion in the dynasty I'm thinking of as well.

If I get the itch to do any international league stuff, I kept 23 on my PC in case.

I couldn't believe how many international leagues were scrapped from OOTP 24. But, glad the customization wasn't negatively affected as that is one of the biggest factors that keeps me buying the game each year.

Also, just wanted to throw this out there, but I will definitely be following along with your Kansas City Franchise. I appreciate the comment though!
