Re: WWE Releases

Sounds like Robert Stone is taken off TV for the time being and being moved into a producer role on NXT.

Probably going the Robert Roode route. A guy 40+ they have no plans for on TV so just try him out producing and see how he does.

If you don't watch NXT, you'll have no idea who he is or know any part of his backstory like being poor, coming into money via the whole Gamestop stock incident, the LA Knight million dollar title feud. Even the "to the moon" part you'll have no idea what that is.
Same thing Bayley had when they first called her up. So much of the character is dependent on being invested in them to follow their backstory that when you pop them on the main roster where a bunch of people haven't seen them? A meh reaction. So you're stuck with them in a weird spot where you can't rely much on that progression because people haven't seen it, and you can't really do it over because in theory their character should be beyond it.

Another example would be Johnny Gargano but getting DIY on TV more helps establish him on the main roster.

That being said, they could've obviously tried something with Grimes. Seemed like they called him up without any plan whatsoever, which screws him over beyond any NXT-to-main roster character concerns.

That's something they really need to fix about NXT talent going to the main roster.

Before, during early days of NXT, during FCW days, OVW days, MCW days, the average fan didn't know who they were in developmental, so you debut them on the main roster as an unknown and have to give fans reasons to care about them.

Now, these talents do have backstories and history in NXT, and the hardcore fans will know about their NXT time, but for the average fan when they go to the main roster you don't bother bringing that up, but also don't try giving fans reasons to care about them, so why would fans care about them?

Does the regular main roster fan know about Gargano and Ciampas friendship turned into enemies turned back into friends turned back into enemies stuff? They just know them as guys from NXT.

Tiffany surprisingly had a following as soon as she came up, but she has an actual character where a backstory isn't as needed.

Bron doesn't have a big character, but his backstory isn't as needed too other than "he's Rick's son and Scotts nephew" and he'd be fine.

Melo they will need to bring his backstory in too because even though he has a character, they need to bring up the barber shop, how he was a breakout star in NXT who became "him", all the things he did in NXT, and give him mic time too.

Re: WWE Releases

Not so much a release, but Scrypts/Reggie seems to be done in WWE. His contract is up at the end of May and doesn't sound like WWE is renewing it. This could just be a 30 days notice type of thing where he's just off TV from now until his deals up.

This is like I was saying before. This isn't a non compete clause. His deal is up in a month so even if they took him off TV now and told him he's done once his deal is up, he can literally show up in AEW or wherever on June 2nd and that's fine because it's a contract ending, not one being terminated in 90 days.

Re: WWE Releases

More releases, all NXT ones. Gulak is only notable name there. Wonder if they found enough evidence to get rid of him or just decided the reports are enough to just be done with him even if it could've just been an innocent accident. But this also means the D'Angelo family kayfabe "took care of" ANOTHER person (two dimes was the first as Pretty Deadly faked their accident)

Names all just seem to be PC names or some from that Next Gen show. I imagine it's just the typical "they've been here since ___ and haven't progressed enough".

Only names I even recognize from the list are Trey Bearhill and Valentina Feroz. Valentina I don't remember anything notable about her, and Bearhill seemed pointless to even have when Eddy Thorpe had basically the exact same gimmick while doing it better and for longer.

Re: WWE Releases

Gable Steveson released too.

Shame he could never do anything. Obviously the hype was so huge with everyone thinking he could be the next Angle or Lesnar, but didn't seem like he took it as seriously as he should and never really progressed much.

I don't get how they have Jade Cargill go out there and pretty much do nothing, but Gable Steveson somehow isn't good enough.

Presence and charisma can get you a long way in pro wrestling.
