I get that the taxi squads are there to help fill in voids created by COVID positive players that need to sit out but the amount of injuries we're going to see as a result of the quick training camps, no exhibition games, nine month layoffs for some of these teams, and ridiculously condensed 58-game schedule will be mind boggling. I know these guys are in great shape but still it's going to be a challenging environment to play in.
NHL could just schedule more back to backs if needed. We don't know what the schedule looks like yet, but I'd imagine they could have a "bye week" where any postponed games could be made up.

Or use the point percentage should teams be unable to make up games.

It's a 115 day season with 56 games there. That's a game every other day. Under extreme circumstances they probably could make a team have a 3 game in 4 day stretch. Since you're playing the same 6-7 teams, theres definitely times where you probably could do the 3 games in 4 day stretch and play the same team in 2 of those dates, maybe all 3 dates depending how many MLB styled series the NHL schedules.

At NHL.com:
The West already has been hailed as extraordinarily difficult by Vegas Golden Knights coach Peter DeBoer

Am I missing something? Anaheim, Kings and San Jose hasn't exactly been fantastic the last seasons. Minnesota didn't impress me too much during the playoffs.

If I was Vegas and got to wish for a division to be put in, that one would definitely be it. The one with most sail through potential.

Or as I said, am I missing something?

^Everyone praises everyone in hockey with cliches

Devils,Caps both announced their helmet ads. They replaced the team logo on the helmet with ads. It's only for this season to bring in extra money. I could see it becoming permanent in the future, but hopefully not as big as the one this season is.

Seems like many will be the teams arena sponsor getting to advertise on their helmet instead.

Key dates for this season:

If everything goes according to plan, July could be a fun month. Stanley Cup Finals, Expansion Draft, Entry Draft AND Free Agency.

Lots, especially if the UK variant is already in North America.
The NBA couldn't even make it 24 hours without having to postpone a game.

The good news is that we should know inside the first 4-6 weeks of the season how this is going to go, so it should be easier to make schedule adjustments. Also hope for an early Canadian spring.

Schedule is out!

Many times we see teams play each other two or even 3 games straight.

I cant wait for the season to start. Playing the same few teams all the time will be fun.

I wouldn't get too excited yet. Still seems like there is a lot to work through.

Re: The Official 2020-2021 Season Talk Thread

Hopefully it all gets resolved. Non playoff teams are reporting to camp next week. Players are already starting to head back to their teams city for training camp.

Hopefully it doesn't end up like a Jays situation for an entire division where you go through camp, do everything you do, only to find out at the end that you can't play at your home.
