Re: NHL Off-Topic thread

Seattle still can't until they have an arena built. QC obviously would be a top candidate if they move, and by 2019 I wonder if KC(who has an arena built already despite no pro team) might be interested.

KC,QC, Seattle could get the Islanders,Canes and expansion team.

The deal was a disaster from the start and everyone knew it would be. SMH

Exactly.

Ever since they announced the move, people talked about how Barclay's was not set up for Hockey. Yet they just kept trying to force it.

Now they are really screwed and in danger of the Islanders moving out forever. It's already bad enough that the Islanders are not on Long Island anymore, but to move them somewhere else? No thanks.

Re: NHL Off-Topic thread

Supposedly there is the possibility of expanding the Barn to get it to an NHL level.

As much as I hate the Islanders, they should not be the team to leave town. If anyone has to go, it's the team across the river in Jersey.

I went to a game there last year in Brooklyn. It was an awful experience.

Re: NHL Off-Topic thread

On the Wild broadcast last night, Michael Russo seemed to think the most likely thing to happen would be moving back to the Nassau Coliseum, which has been renovated since the move. That would be awesome actually.

But the report that they were being 'evicted' wasn't exactly accurate either. They are in talks to renegotiate the lease, which is mandatory and both sides have opt-outs at various times. Nothing is final yet. The Isles would be dumb to stay there though.

Re: NHL Off-Topic thread

I hope the Islanders move back to the Nassau Coliseum because I want to hear the announcers say "Welcome to the Nassau Veterans Coliseum presented by New York Community Bank".

Re: NHL Off-Topic thread

Hartford's governor has invited the Islanders to Hartford on an "interim basis". They still have the same arena as when the Whalers played, but have obviously made changes over time, and it does play host to the AHL Wolfpack team. Just note,it was their old governor who was one of reasons they moved in past since he didn't want them building a new arena.

If Hartford could ever get a new arena, I wonder if they could have another team. Someone should try getting a certain Connecticut based multimillion company to consider investing in getting a new arena and possibly being part owners.

Probably just the 30 for 30 special last night that made me think of it, but as much of a failure as the xfl ended up being, I think if they owned a sports team instead of a league, things could end up working out.
