I'm not looking forward to tomorrow. Nor is Casey DeSmith, I imagine.

Better the Wings than the Flyers! Someone’s gotta fall out, and I don’t think the Lightning or Islanders are going to relinquish their spots so it’s Philly or Detroit on the chopping block. Caps have a shot too.

Wings have it tougher since it's WC or bust for them, and I imagine the Lightning are a near-lock for one of those spots. Based on semi-realistic possibilities, these are the 1st round pairings I'd prefer:

FLA vs TBL
BOS vs TOR
NYR vs NYI
CAR vs PHI (they can't all be pretty; at least it's a 1st time meeting)

VAN vs NSH (obviously biased; not exactly a dream matchup for neutrals)
EDM vs VGK
WPG vs LAK
DAL vs COL

Who needs rebuilds when the Bruins are good no matter what, Lightning know what LTIR is, Panthers have benefit of less taxes (along with Lightning), Leafs will always try to win even when they should rebuild, and then you have the Habs, Sens, Sabres who we can laugh at. Wings are there too somewhere.

Well, that's the point. It should be far easier to compete for a playoff spot in the East than in the West. Tampa's getting old and got LTIR'd themselves by Vegas, the Leafs are weaker than they've been the last few seasons, and the Metro only has 2 good teams (until the Devils get a goalie). The Wings, Sabres, and Senators should have something to show for their rebuilds by now; there's no way they should be worse than Philly at this point. I'll give Montreal a break since they're still mid-rebuild (and had a recent inexplicable SCF run).
