For ESPN's annual "Body Issue," several athletes including Michael Phelps, Venus Williams and Marshawn Lynch posed nude for six different covers. But one in particular is getting most of the attention.

Weighing in at 275 pounds, Texas Rangers' first baseman Prince Fielder has stirred up lots of commentary online over his physique, which some claim isn't at its peak.

In the issue, Fielder defends his physique, explaining that he works out, ensuring that he's in proper shape to perform at his position.

"You don't have to look like an Under Armour mannequin to be an athlete," Fielder said of his physique in ESPN the Magazine. "I work out to make sure I can do my job to the best of my ability."

Some of the memes bring attention to Fielder's fitness, while others Photoshop him in seemingly random situations.

Partly. Power hitters are also a threat to drive in a run when no one is on base. I guarantee that teams are okay if a LH power hitter wants to lay down a bunt and end up on 1st base with no one else on if it means there is no chance a run will be scored in that AB. That's the whole point of these shifts. Teams are willing to give that up in order to try to take away an area where the ball may be hard hit.

We don't really know that since guys rarely do that. For the most part these shifts have been all reward with very little risk.

They continue to do them because they know that "power hitters" won't give up the chance to drive the ball just to get on base. So in that regard, we do know.

lol, Kendrys Morales declines Mariners option, misses part of the season cause he wants more money, signs for less money with the Twins, then gets traded back to Seattle.

Because hitters are stupid and refuse to adjust. Even in situations like down 3 in the 9th inning, hitters usually refuse to do it because "that's not what their being paid to do." Which is BS because the ability to get on base is a huge reason even most power hitters get paid.
