So, it's one vote that kept Biggio out.

Also, 16 people didn't vote for Greg Maddux.

Baseball Hall of Fame is full of the most elites sons of bitches I've ever seen. I also think ITT has a real vote, because somehow, someway, Jacque Jones did get a vote. As did JT Snow.
They don't round up…they talked about that. You have to get over 75% cleanly, no rounding.

Sure, I watched him as a Giant for quite a while. Great year in 2000 and compared to other second basemen he had excellent power and overall offensive contributions, but on the whole he was only a very good player, not "supreme" or "legendary." I think the player's position should only be like a 20% factor in your decision on your vote.

What was Kent like defensively? I can't remember clearly as the bulk of the time I saw him was when he was young with the Blue Jays and Mets. I did watch him a bit in San Fran but not enough to really get a great read on him. I remember him being a pretty sturdy 2B but not an elite level defender.

What position a player plays has to be a major factor…it really determines a lot of a guy's value. If Jeff Kent spent his career playing RF he's really not that special…but being a 2B made him extremely valuable. He wasn't a Sandberg/Alomar type with the glove, but he was good enough to play most of his career at 2B. He leads all 2B in HR and RBI…I don't see how he's not a HOF'r, but I don't think he's the biggest slam dunk ever.

Re: 2014 OS HOF Voting

Read the article over on Deadspin. Anyone that complains about the Deadspin vote needs to realize that Deadspin voted for the top 10 vote getters this year and didn't keep anyone with a chance of making the HOF from not making it.

The guys I voted for on here were:

Maddux
Glavine
Mussina
Schilling
Clemens
Bonds
Biggio
Thomas
Piazza

I made a mistake and didn't realize that I only voted 9, otherwise it would've been Bagwell or Raines 10th.

Not a fan of "selling the vote." I don't care that Deadspin "got it right."

It's just wrong. It's as wrong as the population of moron writers. Not a fan of it at all.

Yeah, it's not like Pedro, Big Unit, and Smoltz are all eligible next year!

...

Biggio is never going to get in at this point.

Sheffield is also available next year, but let's be honest, there is no chance he makes the HoF.

Re: 2014 OS HOF Voting

I'm furious right now, this is just injustice, the definition of it. You don't want to put Bonds, Clemens etc.. in because they are the posterboys for the steroid era, ok I can level with that. But you can't leave guy's off that were innocent, or suspected because they played in that era, that's not right.
