Unit, Pedro, Smoltz with Biggio just whiffing again.

There's too much campaigning for Smoltz for him not to get in this year. I also expect to see Raines' numbers to go up significantly but again not enough to make it.

Biggio was 2 votes short last year. He's in.

Smoltz might get in, I suppose, but it'd be bizarre (even by BBWAA standards) for Smoltz to pick up 75% of the vote while Schilling lingers around 30%.

I'm really hoping that McGriff really picks up steam. Crime Dog would already be in, IMO, without the 1994 strike. He'd be over 500 HR's and being clean would have sailed in…

I also would love to see Tim Raines get there…in fact, I'd prefer him over Biggio.

McGriff got only 11.7% of the vote last year. Veterans Committee is his only hope.

Don't underestimate the power of sportswriters and grudges. Something tells me Schilling wasn't exactly the most liked man by the BBWAA writers.

True enough. Is it that difficult to consider Schilling to be both a total jerk and a worthy Hall of Famer? Sad thing is that posters on this forum put a lot more thought into this than a large chunk of the BBWAA.

Re: Hall Of Fame: Yes Or No?

Feeling old just looking at potential HOF ballot now. Johnson,Pedro,Smoltz,Biggio,Piazza.....some of the big names when I first started watching baseball, all of which retired years ago, and all could be in the HOF now!

In terms of teams each guy goes in with:
Johnson as a DBack
Pedro as a Red Sox
Smoltz as a Brave
Biggio as an Astro

Raines as an Expo(I'm guessing if he's announced into the HOF,Jays might honor him during the Montreal trip they have during ST this season?)

Piazza as a ???(I remember him for being on Mets, though that's just cause of when I first started watching,he's had better career on Dodgers though...)

I'm just wondering when the jerk clause was enacted because there are some real jerks in there already.
