Guys you wish your team had never signed/traded for

If we have a thread about players we wish our teams hadn't let go, then we might as well have a thread about players we wish our team didn't sign or trade for.

Three words: Chan Ho Park!

People believe that A-rod's contract was the main reason why the Rangers could never go out and get pitching help, but not true. Chan Ho Park never amounted to anything while he was in a Rangers uniform, and he got paid hefty to do it.

This season I would say Julian Tavarez, and Rudy Seanez. And Matt Clement is on my list right next to Jeff Suppan.

Andy Ashby , Lance Parrish , Danny Tartabull, Eric Milton, Mike Williams (back in 2002), Mark Lewis, Mark Portigual , probably too many others to mention. Basically 80-90% of our signings from 86 - 02.

Braves: Dan Kolb and the entire 2006 bullpen minus Ken Ray, Danys Baez, and Bob Wickman.

Re: Guys you wish your team had never signed/traded for

Oh God....there's a lot!

I will go with relatively recent guys ('95 to today)

1996

Ottis Nixon: the ugliest player in Jays history and he was supposed to be a leader and great leadoff hitter for the Jays. He was a bust.

Erik Hanson: One of Gord Ashe's bonehead moves. Erik Hanson was an ok pitcher for most of his career but after a "breakout" season in '95 where he was 15-5 for the BoSox he was immediately signed to a big money contract by the Jays. His first season in a Blue Jays uniform was disappointing with a 13-17 record and the next two years he was struck with the injury bug.

1997: The three Amigos of Doom!

Benito Santiago: What a waste of a contract! The Jays had signed the veteran to a big money deal to provide offensive punch behind the plate. Instead he gave the Jays one subpar season and a second season that was basically wiped out due to his braindead speeding incident with his ferrari which nearly KILLED him!

Carlos Garcia & Orlando Merced: These two guys were pretty good hands in the NL but they stunk it up for the Jays. Garcia was hailed as the successor to Roberto Alomar but only gave the Jays a .220 AVG, .253 OBP, 3 HRs and 23 RBI

Orlando Merced at RF didn't prove to be much better with a .266 AVG, .352 OBP, 9 HRs and 40 RBI

These two were part of a trade and the only good thing from said trade was Dan Plesac who was a good vet who was a leader and was a good citizen in Toronto. Unfortunately, Craig Wilson was one of the prospects sent to the Pirates!

1998

Randy Myers: Yeesh, this guy was such a spoiled sport and cancer in the clubhouse that he was traded midseason. His ERA was in the mid 4s and every time he was on the mound it was adventure.

1999

Joey Hamilton: The less said, the better. Really this guy was given a huge contract and what did he give us? an injury plagued stay in Toronto and a whole lotta disappointment.

John Frascatore: He wasn't really all that bad but he was involved in a highly publicized "fight" with then pitching coach Dave Stewart. It was just dreadful all the way around.

2000

Raul Mondesi: His numbers weren't too bad but he carried a ton of baggage, was surly and many felt he didn't live up to his end of the bargain

Pedro Borbon: I always called him "Pedro Borblown". He was an innefective reliever who just never clicked.

These aren't the worst acquisitions in the world but when you consider that Shawn Green was traded mainly because of a personality clash with then hitting coach Cito Gaston then it really comes off as petty and stupid.

2001

Esteban Loazia: One word: FRUSTRATION! At times he'd look like a Cy Young award winner and other times he was Mr. Mediocrity. his records of 11-11 and 9-10 bore that out. Oh and we traded Michael Young for this bum.

2002

Luke Prokopec: Ugh, injuries derailed this guy from the start. He was touted as one of those great Dodger prospects but he just never panned out. Sadly we gave away Paul Qauntrill and Cesar Izturis for him.
