If this team had a bullpen they might be able to do something this year.

Not ideal, but it's possible. The Nats won a World Series with an even worse bullpen.

I just don’t see the Rangers beating Houston

I think yall can. The offense is good enough to match Houston. And Houston's pitching isn't as deep as it once was. But it is better then Texas pitching imo because of Verlander. He often sets the tone.

Javier and Valdez and the rest are vulnerable. If you can knockout Verlander. You can put the pressure on Houston. Granted the Astros have some absolute dogs in that lineup. But Texas is smoldering hot. It will be a clash of titans for sure.

They probably won't. But the 2019 Nats and 2021 Braves shouldn't have beaten them either.

Re: 2023 ALDS: Texas Rangers vs. Baltimore Orioles

I believe winning the division should count more than a wild card spot...and should be rewarded so that there is some incentive...

But I don't think this is it.

The layoff is, to some degree, proving a disadvantage...

How long until the thought process turns to "2nd place might actually be preferable, depending on the matchup...maybe we should tank this last reg season series so we don't have a 5-day layoff?"

That may be a bit absurd, but it seems the data is pointing that way.

I thought the 3 division winners plus one wildcard format was perfect but they’ll never go back to that. I hate the idea of grinding through a 162 game season only to have a 5 or 6 seed get hot and make a run
