Springer with an inside the park 3 run home run!

Even crazier part, he thought he had a HR, so he lightly jogged to 1B before realizing the ball didn't make it over the wall so he had to sprint.

Jays hold on to the lead!

Magic number down to 4, but it's a weird magic number since for the time being its more dependent on their wins since Astros/Mariners/Rangers play each other, so teams swapping wins doesn't help Jays case much.

91 is the most wins needed to clinch a WC spot (in a very specific scenario where those 3 ALW teams trade enough wins with each other where all 3 finish with 90+ wins).

Re: 9/11 - 10/1 Game Discussion Thread

The Yankees and Red Sox are both eliminated from the playoffs.

Only the 2nd time in the WC era thats happened. And we haven't had a season where neither team even finished in the top 3 of the division since 1992!

Feels like just yesterday where the AL East standings were
1. Yankees
2. Red Sox
3. Jays
4. O's
5. Rays

When that happened for 6 straight years (and 7 of 8 total)

Nothing will top the 2021 AL East (where 4th place had 91 wins) but there's a chance based on how the Red Sox/Yankees finish that this could be the best 5th place finish in the WC era in this division.

No words in the English language for how awful the Mariners hitting was tonight.

Giants/Padres game tonight was a real throwback game...Logan Webb threw a complete game. Leading 2-1 in the 9th he gave up back to back singles to start the inning, but Kapler left him out there and he got out of it. Fun to watch...

Re: 9/11 - 10/1 Game Discussion Thread

This year’s NL Cy Young race is going to be an interesting case of old vs new. On the one hand, Blake Snell has the lowest ERA and has been so hard to hit. On the other, he “only” has 14 wins and leads the world in walks. His xFIP is also 3.62.

Spencer Strider has all the K’s, the wins (could end up being only 20 game winner this year), but his ERA is 3.81 and would be highest ever to win it. On the other hand, Strider has had an xFIP of 2.90.

I have no problem with Snell winning it…if he played for the Braves he might have 20-25 wins. I’m more interested to see how voters view this one since there is such a mix of new/old going on with both of them.
