Impressive bullpen meltdown by the Mets, capped off with back to back hit batters with the bases loaded to give the Phillies the lead

And in true "focus on the series, not a single game" fashion, the Angels outscored the Rockies 32-12 and out hit them 47-27, but Rockies won the series.

Re: 6/19 - 7/2 Game Discussion Thread

Yates got to close it out tonight for Atlanta, and wasn't bad at all. The jam-job single was exactly that, and a home run distance foul ball is exactly that as well.

His fastball needs more pinpoint accuracy, but if it does the splitter doesn't need to be perfect to be effective. I don't know how much I'd trot him out for one-run leads right now unless you know they're getting down to the bottom of the order, because his current problem will be getting strike three before getting ball four. I trust him more than others in that bullpen, though.

High pitch count for that one inning, and probably enough to not throw him tomorrow night. Elder and Ryan tomorrow will be fun pitching matchup to watch and a closer will absolutely be thought of to be in play.

Still lots of baseball left to be played but after tonight the Jays and Angels could be the final 2 WC spots while Yankees and Astros would be out despite being better than the ALC leader.

Can we end the season once that happens?

Re: 6/19 - 7/2 Game Discussion Thread

Keep streaking, Braves....just hope it continues in October.

Unrelated but my dad sat and watched a game with me Sunday, first time he's seen a baseball game this year. I told him of all the changes and he was like "not a fan"...

...then after an inning he said, "I kinda like this...that inning was quick."

Afterwards we both screamed about a terrible K-zone call and both agreed automated strike zone must happen immediately.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

Hell of a catch in the Pirates game by Palacios to rob a HR.
