Transfer Update
  • Betis makes a $1.3M offer to Las Palmas for Alvaro Cejudo, but Rodriguez and the board declines.
  • Betis also signs our transfer target Andreu Fontas, Fontas took less money from Betis. A tough loss for us.
  • Interesting enough our next match is against Betis in 2 days.

League Match vs Betis (9-7-2, 34 pts, 4th)

Starting Eleven:
GK - F. Assmann
DR - S. Pignol
DL - G. Beranger
DC - A. Lamas
DC - D. Garcia
DMC - D. Nagore
MR - S. Darino
ML - A. Cejudo
MC - Jorge
ST - M. Marquez
ST - Guayre

Subs - Pindado, D. Lopez, Juanpa, S. Suarez, M. Garcia, Josico, S. Rondon

Inactive - Samuel, D. Leon, F. Suarez, D. Gonzalez, J. Guerrerro

First Half

2' - A long goal kick by Assmann a head to Marcos Marquez and he plays it through to Guayre who is free! Guayre from the right side of the area shoots left and scores!!!
11' - Off an interception Darino places a nice pass to Marquez in their area but before he can get the shot off they take possession.
12 - Betis' Cristaldo makes a great play and knifes through our defense and scores with a well placed shot!
13' - Unbelievable another quick goal by Betis and now we trail 2-1!
14' - A hectic pace right now, another long goal kick by Assmann. Again Marquez is able to control it and play it to Guayre who gets free for the goal!!! We are all tied at 2.
19' - Marquez gets possession at the top of the area, he uses his skill to get past the defender and fires on the goal and he scores!!!
27' - Absurd! Another long goal kick and Marquez heads it forward to Guayre and guess who is all alone? Guayre scores again for the hat trick!!!
37' - They play a deep ball into our zone and Assmann miss times his jump but Lamas saves the day coming in to head it clear!
40' - Betis' Emana receives a yellow card for a hard tackle on Marquez.

Half Time
Las Palmas 4 : 2 Betis

An exciting first half finds us on top 4-2 and looking to really bog things down on the defensive end. We bring on Miguel Garcia and Josico for Darino and Jorge, then switch to a 4-3-1-2 formation. In the first half Betis had 11 shots with 3 on target while we had 7 shots with 4 on target. Our passing has been poor but we are doing enough to get it done.

Second Half

53' - Betis gets on the board again! This time off of a corner kick we get beat on a header.
67' - Betis seems power less to stop the long goal kick that leads to a goal For the 4th time today Assmann kicks it deep, Marquez heads it on and Guayre controls it and scores!!
70' - Juanpa comes on for Cejudo and we go to a 5-3-2.
77' - Off another corner Betis gets a header goal but wait a foul is called and the goal will not stand!
90+5' - Guayre gets an interception near midfield and has a breakaway! This time he gets denied though!

Final
Las Palmas 5 : 3 Betis

An unbelievable game with six goals in the first 26 minutes! Betis ended the game with 22 shots and 6 on target, while we had 11 shots and 7 on target. They controlled most of the match but were never able to stop the deep goal kick and Guayre gets 4 somewhat simple goals. While Guayre received the Man of the Match, Marquez was mostly responsible with 4 assists and a goal of his own.

Man of the Match - Guayre (9.8 f/t rating, 4 goals)

With the win we improve to 10-5-4 with 35 points, which is good enough for 4th place.

Transfer Update
  • Javi Guerrerro signs with Catania (Italy), we will receive $150K for the transfer.
  • A lot of teams are showing interest in Cejudo and we let it be known we have no interest in letting him leave.
  • Rumors are that Sporting (LIGA BBV) are offering a contract to Guayre. We quickly offer Guayre a contract to remain with the team after this season.
