I hear you. It's hard to combat that, to be honest.

One thing that can help is what Fresh Tendrils mentioned prior in this thread, which is motivation doesn't even come into play any more at some point in your life (if you're normal LOL). It's something on the "to do" list that, like most of our jobs, you don't want to do but you have to do so you can go on with your day. Once you change your thinking on it to something like that, it can help (although it's not a cure-all by any means).

Like you guys, I hate going and 100% of the time would rather do just about anything else. I had the COVID excuse for the past year but now I'm back to putting it on my list of things to do before I can go home for the day. Still hate it, but I know if I wait until I'm inspired to go, it'll be the year 2092.

Re: 2021 Fitness Adventures

Today's workout is going to be another doozy.
Athlean X
11-11-11
11 exercises -11 reps each in under 11 minutes.

Box jumps
Burpees
Bench bottom pistol squats
Burpees
Split squat jumps
Burpees
Clapping plyo pushups
Burpees
Handstand pushups (which I'll improvise with feet on a bench)
Burpees
Plank walkouts
"Gasp for air"

I imagine I'll be somewhere around 20 min.

Re: 2021 Fitness Adventures

PV, I think figuring out what activities you enjoy and focusing on them is a good way to go. I know for me, I grew very tired of going to a gym and lifting weights, so I shifted my focus and found that I really enjoyed running and cycling. With that shift, these activities become "want to" instead of "need or have to" and I believe that has helped solidify better habits in me.

Any strength training I do now is with bodyweight or kettlebell exercises at home.

Did a little better than I thought I would.

Finished in 13:08

Got a little mountain bike ride in before work this morning. It's been mid 60's the last few mornings so it was nearly perfect riding weather. Had to take advantage, don't normally have days like that in Louisiana in August.

Re: 2021 Fitness Adventures

I am about 30 lbs over what I should be. I don't lose weight easily and also I had been dealing with stress/depression/anxiety for like 9 years. The stress was making me crave sugar like all the time to. Sense I was able to finally get away from some of that like a month ago I have been trying to get back to exercising ever day other than Friday when I get home late from doing laundry, and getting back to getting sleep has I had also been living on no sleep for a long time. Hopefully I can get back to sleep pattern soon. Some times I have to skip exercising because of back pain I get from having to stand all day at work. So far I have lost about 3 lbs in the last month.

Re: 2021 Fitness Adventures

there's also a "routine" element, and I have OCD so I'm not the best example, and my routine only means getting 20k steps a day while playing word games on my phone lol, but if your exercise, whatever level it is (and mine is low), becomes regular, it's just something you do as part of your daily routine

(run on sentence mcgee here)
